Avalugg @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 88 Atk / 104 Def / 64 SpD
Impish Nature
- Avalanche
- Rapid Spin
- Recover
- Toxic

Avalugg serves as a check here. Avalugg can always come in on Kangaskhan's hits. Even it's best STAB (Double-Edge). Avalugg does have reliable recovery with its leftovers and Recover. Avalugg can also use Toxic to wear down Kangaskhan and use Recover to let Kang defeat itself. Avalugg's biggest problem is rocks, but it can get rid of them with Rapid Spin. Here are some calcs:

252+ Atk Silk Scarf Kangaskhan Fake Out vs. 252 HP / 104+ Def Avalugg: 36-43 (9.1 - 10.9%) -- hardly anything
252+ Atk Silk Scarf Kangaskhan Double-Edge vs. 252 HP / 104+ Def Avalugg: 105-124 (26.6 - 31.4%) -- 24.6% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery -- This shows that Avalugg can take hits!

Sucker Punch and EQ don't do any better than Double-Edge. There is the possibility that Kangaskhan will run Power-Up Punch to help itself but Avalanche can help here.

88 Atk Avalugg Avalanche vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Kangaskhan: 193-228 (54.9 - 64.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO -- This is assuming Avalugg gets hit first
Sorry, but...

Ferroseed @ Eviolite
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 248 HP / 128 Def / 132 SpD
Impish Nature
- Gyro Ball
- Leech Seed
- Stealth Rock
- Protect

Ferroseed works as a check here. Ferroseed can switch in to any of Kangaskhan's attacks. Even Double-Edge.

252+ Atk Silk Scarf Kangaskhan Double-Edge vs. 248 HP / 128 Def Eviolite Ferroseed: 66-78 (22.6 - 26.8%) -- 23.6% chance to 4HKO -- See? Not even a guaranteed 4HKO!

Rocks don't even hinder Ferroseed at all. The one thing that Ferroseed has to fear is the possibility of Power Up Punch or Fire Punch. But since Double-Edge does 26.8% maximum w/o boosts and Ferroseed has recovery with Leech Seed and has Protect to help it out and Iron Barbs is hurting Kangaskhan each time too, it makes it tough on Kangaskhan to beat it 1v1.

Gurdurr @ Eviolite
Ability: Guts
EVs: 252 HP / 192 Atk / 64 Def
Adamant Nature
- Drain Punch
- Knock Off
- Mach Punch
- Bulk Up

Gurdurr uses it’s great physical bulk to check kangaskhan by avoiding the 2HKO from any combination of moves and retailiating with a drain punch or pick it off with a mach punch.

Double Edge>Double Edge
252+ Atk Silk Scarf Kangaskhan Double-Edge vs. 252 HP / 64 Def Eviolite Gurdurr: 148-175 (39.5 - 46.7%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Double Edge>Z-Double Edge
252+ Atk Kangaskhan Double-Edge vs. 252 HP / 64 Def Eviolite Gurdurr: 123-145 (32.8 - 38.7%) -- 99.5% chance to 3HKO

252+ Atk Kangaskhan Breakneck Blitz (190 BP) vs. 252 HP / 64 Def Eviolite Gurdurr: 195-229 (52.1 - 61.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Power-Up Punch>Z-Double Edge
252+ Atk Kangaskhan Power-Up Punch vs. 252 HP / 64 Def Eviolite Gurdurr: 28-33 (7.4 - 8.8%) -- possibly the worst move ever

+1 252+ Atk Kangaskhan Breakneck Blitz (190 BP) vs. 252 HP / 64 Def Eviolite Gurdurr: 291-343 (77.8 - 91.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Power-Up Punch>Double Edge
252+ Atk Kangaskhan Power-Up Punch vs. 252 HP / 64 Def Eviolite Gurdurr: 28-33 (7.4 - 8.8%) -- possibly the worst move ever

+1 252+ Atk Silk Scarf Kangaskhan Double-Edge vs. 252 HP / 64 Def Eviolite Gurdurr: 220-261 (58.8 - 69.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Bronzor @ Eviolite
EVs: 252 HP/ 252 Def/4 Spdef
IVs: 0 Spe
Relaxed Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Gyro Ball
- Toxic
- Rest/Protect

Bronzor counters Kangaskhan pretty hard. It donks sets without PUP easily. Even with PUP, Bronzor is still winning, it just might have to rest at some point. Toxic + Gyro + Double-edge means Kanga isn't doing anything except banging its head against a metal plate then dying.

Meanwhile Bronzor gets rocks up for free every time Kanga switches in and because Bronzor is so bulky, even Pursuits from Skunktank and Spiritomb don't restrict its ability to beat Kanga.

252+ Atk Silk Scarf Kangaskhan Double-Edge vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Bronzor: 54-65 (16.9 - 20.4%) -- possible 5HKO

Still can't OHKO at +6 lol get good
+6 252+ Atk Silk Scarf Kangaskhan Double-Edge vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Bronzor: 219-258 (68.8 - 81.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

0 Atk Bronzor Gyro Ball (150 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Kangaskhan: 70-84 (19.9 - 23.9%) -- possible 5HKO

Primeape @ Choice Scarf / Choice Band
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 253 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- U-turn
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake / Gunk Shot

I'm submitting Primeape as an offensive check. While it doesn't appreciate coming in on Fake Out or any of Kangaskhan's STAB moves, Primeape will always outspeed Kangaskhan and proceed to OHKO it with a Close Combat.

Before I kick off voting, I would like to thank everyone who participated this week; there were many submissions, varying from commonplace, to under-the-radar, to niche, so there's a wide array of options for voters. That being said, I won't be submitting anything this time around, both because there's not much of a need this round and because I don't have the time. Anyways, keep it up, guys! :psyglad:

Checks:

Tonda Gossa!'s Carracosta

Darkfire47's Gourgeist-Small

curiosity's Fightinium Z Kangaskhan

Jmash324's Gurdurr

ArtistSmeargle1991's Primeape

Counters:

Taskr's Wormadam-Trash

HydraOfLight1255's Ferroseed

Dr N Gin's Bronzor

ItsxLegendz's Metang

(Gourgeist-Small is a check, not a counter, because it only switches into Double-Edge once. Ferroseed is a counter, not a check, because it takes little to nothing from any of the listed moves while chipping away at Kangaskhan with Iron Barbs, Gyro Ball and Leech Seed.)

Vote for 2 checks and 2 counters.

Checks: Carracosta, Gurdurr
Counters: Ferroseed, Bronzor

Ferroseed @ Eviolite

Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Spikes
- Leech Seed

Submissions close Tuesday!

Lurantis @ Leftovers
Ability: Contrary
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 Spe
Bold Nature
- Leaf Storm
- Synthesis
- Defog
- Superpower / Hidden Power Fire

Lurantis is probably the best answer to Ferroseed as it prevents it from recovering health from Leech Seed due to its Grass typing and it can defog away any Spikes whilst threatening it with Superpower or HP Fire.

Weezing @ Black Sludge
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 160 Def / 96 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Sludge Bomb
- Toxic Spikes / Flamethrower
- Taunt
- Will-O-Wisp

Taunt Weezing
Standard Taunt Weezing, it can counter Ferroseed from using all of it's great utility moves and forcing it into only being able to use Gyro Ball, which does negligible damage. Weezing can proceed to burn Ferroseed and stall it out or hasten the process by running Flamethrower. Nice to note it can also take on the infamous FerroClef core.

Drampa is a counter:

drampa.gif

Drampa @ Choice Specs
Ability: Sap Sipper
EVs: 136 HP / 252 SpA / 120 Spe
Modest Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Hyper Voice
- Fire Blast
- Focus Blast

Comes in for basically free and gets an incredibly strong hit off. Leech Seed does nothing thanks to Sap Sipper, and Spikes on the switch is something just about everything has to realistically suffer if they do intend on switching. Gyro Ball is also a 5HKO after Stealth Rock, so Ferroseed is not getting by or pressuring Drampa. On Drampa's side, Fire Blast also kills Ferroseed almost 2 times over, and Focus Blast is also a roll to OHKO. You can also sit there and Hyper Voice if you really wanted to...it's a 4HKO so you will win anyway, and if they try to swap Ferroseed for something else then the new mon is gonna get slapped.

Pyroar @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Unnerve
EVs: 252 Spe / 252 SpA / 4 Def
Timid Nature
- Fire Blast
- Hyper Voice
- Hidden Power Grass
- Toxic/Overheat

Pyroar is just one of those mons that just counters Ferroseed completely. Ferroseed might be able to get in a Leech Seed, but even then, it can't do much more! One Fire Blast gets rid of that pest. The damage calc probably isn't necessary but I'll post it anyway:

252 SpA Pyroar Fire Blast vs. 248 HP / 132+ SpD Eviolite Ferroseed: 376-448 (129.2 - 153.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Rocks is a threat to Pyroar which Ferroseed can send out, but if you send in Pyroar b4 hand, Ferroseed will head for the hills!

Combusken @ Fightinium Z/ Firinium Z
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Fire Blast
- Focus Blast
- Defog
- Protect

I'm submitting Raising Cane's Jr. as a counter to Ferroseed. It doesn't fear anything that Ferroseed dishes out and easily KILLS it with either Fire Blast or Focus Blast. It can even get rid of the spikes Ferroseed sets with Defog.

(Where you going gurl?)
Probopass
@ leftovers
Ability: Magnet Pull
252 HP/252 SpA
Modest Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Flash Cannon
- Hidden Power Fire
- Taunt

Genuine, bona fide, certified seed killer. The best Ferro counter/killer this side of Magnezone. Probopass can switch in on Ferro all day and if Ferro doesn't double-switch (which it will because it fears the metal mo) it shrivels and cries spiky tears as Probopass traps it and roasts it alive.

If you are feeling particularly sadistic and manage to switch in on a move other than leech seed, you can taunt and pp stall gyro and watch the weed struggle itself to death. The finest experience PU has to offer.

Victreebel @ Life Orb
Ability: Chlorophyll
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Strength Sap
- Energy Ball / Leaf Storm
- Sludge Bomb
- Hidden Power [Fire]

0 Atk Ferroseed Gyro Ball (119 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Victreebel: 105-124 (34.8 - 41.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock

252+ SpA Life Orb Victreebel Hidden Power Fire vs. 248 HP / 132+ SpD Eviolite Ferroseed: 187-224 (64.2 - 76.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Submitting Victreebel as a counter to Ferroseed. Victreebel can break Ferroseed and, if low on health or after it takes a Gyro Ball on the switch, it can Strength Sap to recover health and can stomach the next Gyro Ball comfortably. Plus with its great STABs it can take advantage of a lot of standard Pokemon on balance such as Clefairy and Gastrodon.

Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk

0 Atk Ferroseed Gyro Ball (53 BP) vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Eviolite Clefairy: 80-96 (23.2 - 27.9%) -- 68.9% chance to 4HKO

Curse ferroseed when.

EDIT: clefairy is splashable, deals with a ton of high-ranked stuff and in addition is immuned to spikes and leechseed, a nightmare for ferro. It's one of the most popular ferro counters, and is used in ferro-clef cores as a counter to opposing ferroseeds: I've seen one or two teams so far which dont carry a clefairy with ferro, and it often ended up in a ferro vs ferro ppstall war. Thanks magic guard.

Ability: Frisk
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpA
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe

- Giga Drain
- Flamethrower

Easy counter, not caring for Gyro Ball or Leech Seed, and taking out Ferroseed with a swift Flamethrower, or setup bait for Trick Room. Choice Specs is another great set that beats Ferroseed efficiently as well, but takes a bit more from Gyro Ball as well as hating Protect due to being Choice locked.

This week we just have counters, unsurprising given Ferroseed is pretty easy to switch into.
