OU Weavile (QC 1/1) (GP 1/1)

Felixx

I'm back.

Weavile @ Choice Band
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Icicle Crash
- Knock Off
- Ice Shard
- Pursuit

Although Ice is regarded as one of the worst typings for its poor defensive capabilities, Weavile has recently seen a resurgence in the OU tier because of its threatening offensive presence! Weavile is a fast and powerful option for many different types of teams, being able to force out many wallbreakers such as Zygarde, Tapu Bulu, and Gliscor, and a lot of its common switch-ins such as Clefable and Assault Vest Magearna hate having their items removed by Knock Off. However, access to Pursuit is what really makes Weavile amazing, being able to trap certain offensive pivots, namely Mega Latios and Tornadus-T, which aids teammates such as Kartana and Tangrowth. Heatran and Swords Dance Gliscor are the premier partners for Weavile due to its ability to remove Mega Latios, while both can easily handle Clefable in return.

Here in this World Cup of Pokemon replay, we see both players utilizing their Weavile to attempt to trap the opposing Mega Latios:

this statement feels kinda vague tbh, ice has always been a scary offensive typing so Id probably word this like “... regarded as one of the worst typings for its poor defensive capabilities, weavile has recently seen a resurgence in the ou tier because of its threatening offensive presence”. In the Knock bit I’d mention how some common mons that can switch into weav really hate having their item removed (clef and av gears mainly). I see what you’re going for with magnezone being featured as the premier weavile partner but I don’t think they work that well together for it to be the only mon mentioned as a teammate (see: no weav team in the replay has a zone). Other than trapping sciz it doesnt really do much for it, I would just mention mons that appreciate mlatis and torn gone which is what weavile does best, stuff like sd glisc is a big nuisance for teams that rely on mtios as their check when paired with weavile, heatran takes advantage of opposing clef and also hates mtios, even sd kart isnt that bad despite not seeing as much usage anymore cause both mtios and torn revenge kill it. Other than that this looks good, 1/1
