Monotype Winter Premier II Power Rankings
All Ratings by Azelea, Chaitanya, Eien, Havens, Omega-Xis, terrors and TheThorn
USM Ratings also by Decemm
Monothreat Ratings also by Ticken

1. Rustboro Raptors:
SM: LAX (4), Pearl (8), trash (12)
LC: Kushalos (4)
Ubers: Alpha Rabbit (3)
AAA: Sabella (2)
STABmons: Betathunder (3)
Monothreat: rnbs (5)
Subs: Freeroamer, Passion, temporaily

Positives: Azelea and Zarif perhaps have the most balanced draft of the entire tournament, as well as the most explosive. There really isn't much to say wrong about this lineup, considering that they have a patented combo of LAX and Sabella, who ranks 4th in SM and 2nd in AAA respectively (for Sabella, he'd also be among the top 10 SM players). STABmons TL ranks 3rd, Kushalos ranks 4th in LC, Grand Slam Winner Pearl ranks at a respectable 8th in SM, and trash ranks 12th after going 6-2 in MPL IV to balance this already powerful draft.

Negatives: If there's anything that can be taken away from the Raptors, it's that they lack dedicated building to support a fine group. Individually, their OM players can perform very well, but without a builder that can help refine their OMs, it may pose a slight challenge towards their success.

Wildcards: rnbs is ranked at 5th due to a lack of activity within the scene as of late. He simply just needs to re-acquaint himself with the format in order to find relative success. In Alpha Rabbit's case, he just needs assistance with building in Monotype Ubers. Granted there's hardly anyone that knows how to effectively build in the format, and even less people that are familiar with it, but we'd give him the benefit of the doubt.

2. Sootopolis Sealeos:
SM: Pak (7), Shiba (14), Star (18)
LC: obii (2)
Ubers: Jase Duken (4)
AAA: 1 True Lycan (1)
STABmons: Funbot28 (7)
Monothreat: rozes (3)
Subs: Balto, Vodoom, Bitana

Positives: Ridley and Ticken find themselves as the #2 team on the PR, and it isn't difficult to see why when you look at their lineup. Leading the charge is 1 True Lycan, perhaps the most successful player in Monotype history, boasting winning records in nearly every Monotype team tournament he's participated in, and ranks #1 in AAA, and also can be seen as a top 3 player in SM. Obii being ranked #2 at LC and rozes at #3 in Monothreat are reflected not only by their incredible playing ability, but also having their manager Ticken turning out to be one of the best builders in each of those respective formats. Jase Duken rounds out their Ubers slot ranked #4, as his combined prowess in both Monotype and Ubers formats individually should carry him towards a successful season, especially when he also has the support of Star.

Negatives: Not much could negatively be said about this lineup. If anything, their only true weakness is in STABmons, where Funbot28 was ranked 7th in a field of highly skilled competitors.

Wildcards: Their SM lineup consists of 3 solid battlers in Pak, Shiba, and Star, that shouldn't have much of a problem performing well considering their teammate in 1 True Lycan, an exceptional builder that can provide them with the necessary tools to grant them the best chances of success. From there, it's only a matter of execution. Needless to say, this will be one of the, if not the team to beat this tournament.

3. Native Natus
SM: Paleo (2), Harpp (6), Wincon (15)
LC: Kingler12345 (1)
Ubers: EviGaro (7)
AAA: smub (8)
STABmons: sed (5)
Monothreat: SirSkit (2)
Subs: Hikari, Fardin, Yaksok

Positives: StarBlim had a rather disappointing performance w/ the Pupitars. Not only was his team 2nd to last overall, but he was basically managing solo for the entirety of MPL IV. However, its safe to say that he'll have better success managing this time around, especially with a surprisingly solid team all around (and a co-manager that won't leave week 3 rip). For starters, the Natus had a number of amazing pickups, such as the highest ranked Mono LC player Kingler12345 and the second best Monothreat player in Sirskit. Additionally, their SM lineup isn't a slouch either, when considering Paleo, one of the most consistent players of his generation, and Harpp, a rising star in the Monotype community with an explosive debut in MPL IV at 6-1.

Negatives: The Natus also picked up some solid players that are giant question marks in their formats. Among them is smub, a longtime Monotype staff member that is a regular in various Mono OM formats, but to our knowledge this will be his first tie really getting a chance to shine in them, and has a lot to prepare for considering an incredibly stacked AAA field, and was thus ranked last. EviGaro on the other hand was ranked second to last in Ubers as the Natus also lack a truly dedicated Ubers builder.

Wildcards: Wincon was ranked at 15th only because of his recent inactivity, but there is not much of a question that he can still perform at a very high level. The Natus also have sed as their STABmons player, ranked at a respectable 5th. He can certainly turn some heads this tournament if he puts in all the effort (and is doing alright so far thanks to a w1 win.) Hikari and Fardin as subs can also turn out to be an instrumental part in the Natus success if needed, especially Fardin (as it's likely that he can patch up their Ubers position).

4. Good Civ Goodras
SM: Leru (1), Eien (3), Wanka (10)
LC: dhaarma (5)
Ubers: EternalSnowman (2)
AAA: Hamhamhamham (7)
STABmons: skysolo14 (8)
Monothreat: Misaka Mikoto (6)
Subs: Bouff, In The Hills, Bluxio

Positives: It's hardly a surprise to see the Goodras not have the best SM lineup, especially when the managers are among the finest players in the format today. Leru went with an undefeated, 9-0 record last MWP, as well as a solid winning record in MPL, therefore cementing his spot as the best SM player in this tournament. Eien isn't far behind either, being ranked #3 overall, and is also arguably the best builder in the current format. Joining them is Wanka, a longtime Monotype veteran that has hardly lost his touch in SM, and was ranked at #10 when also considering his phenomenal support behind him. Also joining them is newcomer EternalSnowman, a longtime Ubers veteran that has high hopes placed on him, especially when considering his manager Leru who previously won the recent iteration of Smogon Snake Draft as an Ubers player, and can pass over solid teams to compensate for it.

Negatives: Despite a seemingly successful SM lineup, the Goodras could use some assistance in their OMs. Hamhamhamham was ranked 2nd to last in AAA, not so much because that he isn't a good player, but rather the field of AAA players this time is exceptionally stacked that there really wasn't any way to rank him any higher. The same reasoning can also be applied to skysolo14 in STABmons, more or less. Misaka Mikoto, a longtime Monothreat veteran also was ranked rather low considering a lack of participation in anything monothreat, or even anything Pokemon related for quite a while.

Wildcards: dhaarma was ranked as the 5th LC player in this tournament, as he has shown promise at playing at a high level, but raised some eyebrows as he was drafted in the 4th round. Eien and Leru can also assist with their building in OM fields as well, but time will tell how their AAA and STABmons players will fare in an environment with incredible competition ahead.

5. Rascal Ralts
SM: ima (13), Croven (16), double switches (22)
LC: Finchinator (3)
Ubers: MiyoKa (1)
AAA: Tyke (4)
STABmons: Sae (4)
Monothreat: Moosical (1)
Subs: Cam, Havens, czim

Positives: Torkool is back at it again, looking for his second consecutive MWP victory, and is reflected well by his team being ranked #1 overall in Mono OMs. Not only is he one of the best builders among all Mono OM formats, but he's also amongst some of the best players in them as well, which is noted as Torkool ranks #1 in Monothreat. Fellow Mono OM player Tyke also was ranked #4 in AAA, though he had the second best record in STABmons last MWP at 5-1. Joining them again is former Torkoal MiyoKa, despite being gone for a while, performed exceptionally well and boasted the best record last MWP in Ubers at 7-2, and was thus ranked #1 in that format. Sae was ranked #4 in STABmons with a solid record at 4-2 last MWP, and can easily swap out with Tyke for potentially better results.

Negatives: While the Ralts' OM pool is arguably the strongest in the tour, their SM slots leave much to be desired. Their leading player is ima, who had a rather lackluster performance in the previous MPL, going 2-5. It's even worse for double switches, who went 0-4 in that same MPL. Croven went 4-3 in the previous MPL but exclusively played ORAS, and prevents him from being ranked higher. Needless to say, it'll be an uphill climb for this SM crew who is ranked #7 overall.

Wildcards: Luckily for the Ralts, their lineup is rather malleable, and can be adjusted to fit their weaknesses. Additionally, the Ralts have Finchinator, who was ranked rather highly at #3 in LC, perhaps primarily because of his success in multiple team tournament formats. He can swap into an SM slot to fill in that weaknesses for czim to play LC, which works as he's found success here and there. Cam and C9 NxtLvl can also assist with SM teambuilding that the Ralts effectively lack. Regardless, if their SM group can pull themselves together, this team will be on their way to the top.

6. Dauntless Dewgongs
SM: Arifeen (9), Charmflash (19), Kaori (24)
LC: Quote (7)
Ubers: MJ (8)
AAA: Megazard (3)
STABmons: Quantum Tesseract (1)
Monothreat: Xiri (8)
Subs: Chras, Gross Sweep, Kiyo

Positives: Charmflash, QT, and the Dewgongs have an interesting draft to say the least. Quantum Tesseract leads the pack in STABmons, considering he had the best record last MWP at 6-3, which came with an MWP win. Additionally, his knowledge of the Monotype OMs is very vast, and combined with Megazard can turn some heads in all of those formats. Additionally, the Dewgongs have longtime Monotype threat Arifeen, who went 7-3 in the previous MPL (albeit playing ORAS and Bo3) but hasn't lost his touch with the regular scene. Additionally, Charmflash boasted a cool 5-3 record in MPL IV, but has incredibly less team support this time around, so how he'll fare is up to people's imaginations. Chras on the other hand, is literally the star of the show when it comes to memes, being ranked top #1 lifetime for being the only person to make actual good memes (see above LMAO).

Negatives: The Dewgong's Monothreat and Ubers slots feel quite lackluster here. Xiri was ranked dead last as a result of tough competition. Additionally, his team support would be Megazard, who has dabbled little in comparison to the many others that play the format extensively. MJ also comes last in Ubers mainly from a lack of team support. Lastly, Kaori was ranked last on the premise that this would be his first time around with Monotype, and faces incredible competition ahead of him.

Wildcards: Quote being their LC player isn't necessarily a bad thing. As a standalone LC playeer, he's one of the best to ever do it, but was only ranked so low because of his assumed unfamiliarity with Monotype's LC format. We could very well be surprised by his probable success, and if he does so, then more power to him.

7. Croissant Copping Chikoritas
SM: -Tsunami- (5), Chaitanya (11), Trichotomy (20)
LC: Nailec (8)
Ubers: Mysterious M (5)
AAA: Waszap (5)
STABmons: Ransei (6)
Monothreat: Nexecutioner (7)
Subs: racool, Perish Song, peachycl0uds

Positives: Despite what their draft looks like, the Chikoritas have a very strong SM draft for themselves. -Tsunami- for instance was ranked #5 because of his exceptional performance in the previous MPL, boasting a 5-3 record, and still has a solid team support behind him, with Chaitanya who went 5-2, and Trichotomy who went even at 3-3 at the same tournament. Additionally, Waszap had a phenomenal performance in MPL IV, with a 6-2 record which included an MPL victory overall.

Negatives: Nailec was ranked last in LC, as this will be his first shot in a major tournament setting, but has big shoes to fill for a r4 pick that has never had competition of this scale. Nexecutioner was ranked 7th in Monothreat, as this will also be his first test in a highly competitive setting. However, he is relatively unknown to the community, and his playing ability leaves a giant question mark in peoples minds.

Wildcards: Waszap ranks as 6th in the AAA pool. Like other people on this list, his ranking is hardly reflective of his ability, and was only ranked so low considering the incredible competition he has to face. Mysterious M ranks 5th in Ubers, and Ransei ranks 6th in STABmons for similar reasons. If anything, Mysterious M's low ranking is representative of a lack reliable team support, despite also being a great Ubers player in his own right. The question for this teamreally comes down to preparing for these OMs effectively. If they can do so, they can be clear contenders for a playoff appearance, and perhaps an MWP win.

8. Ever Grande Eevees
SM: Feliburn (17), TJ (21), trace (23)
LC: cb aaron judge (6)
Ubers: Catalystic (6)
AAA: Sylveon. (6)
STABmons: Jrdn (2)
Monothreat: KevinELF (4)
Subs: Attribute, Ark, Gratify

Positives: The Eevees rank overall last in a tournament full of killers. The managers, KevinELF and Attribute are absolutely no slouches when it comes to Monotype however. KevinELF, a longtime Monothreat veteran, returns to the fray ranked 4th. Attribute is also one of the best players and builders in the regular format, but him not being slotted for any SM role at all in Week 1 really raises a few questions. The Eevees also have a solid pickup in Jrdn, one of the best STABmons players today that has both the experience and capability to perform at an exceptional level, and therefore is ranked the second best player in the format.

Negatives: The Eevees SM lineup ranks last in this tournament. Feliburn leads the pack from a rather neutral MPL at 3-3. TJ, while finding success in seasonal tournaments, hasn't really participated much, if at all, in Monotype's team tournament formats, so it was hard to rank him much higher. Trace went 1-3 in MPL IV, but played ORAS and BW instead, making it hard for us to accurately rank him in the current metagame.

Wildcards: cb aaron judge, Catalystic, and Sylveon. are solid players in their own right, but the real question really comes down to team support. This team just doesn't look like it has consistent builders to accurately prepare for these OMs; some of which, in fields where the playerbase is incredibly stacked. Not slotting Attribute for an SM slot week 1 is also a questionable decision, as his abilities in the current format are perhaps the best on his team. If the Eevees can prep and play well consistently, then perhaps we'll be in for quite the surprise.

Can someone tell me exactly why Chras is being punished for the manager drafting him having absolutely no intent to play him or even let him in the server at first LOL. How arrogant can you be to believe you can just grab someone and they’ll make art and play absolutely no part in the tournament whatsoever?? These are actual people you’re picking, they signed up to enjoy the fucking tour and you’re treating them like absolute shit. How to show an absolute lack of sportsmanship Jesus Christ, we’re all in the tour to win it but before that we all play this game for fun. I legitimately can’t fathom how you think this is the way to treat people and I also can’t fathom why Chras now gets to play no part in the tour whatsoever. Awful piece of management into a really poor call

This does not fall under the team cancer policy as Chras has shown a willingness to participate in the team's discord. Therefore, Chras will be released from Dauntless Dewgongs without a pick for compensation due to the circumstances surrounding the situation. Chras will not be allowed to join another team as every manager is not comfortable with one team having one more player than every other team.
So let me get this straight, Charmflash bans Chras from his discord for no reason even though he was willing to play and help, Does not get added back and the Dewgongs refuse to trade him to another team. The solution u guys thought of for this situation was to basically ban Chras from participating in mwp2? So after everything he is the one that gets punished the most after not doing anything wrong.

Shouldnt we at some point start looking at the manager who is not willing to listen to any trade offers? And maybe punish him instead? This is completely insane

"because he's willing to agree to that but not a trade" wait so lemme get this straight, the decision aside

you have the opportunity to get another player in trade of someone who you wont use

getting your lineup to 11 players

and you deny it

but youre willing to give him away for free

even though it leaves you with 10 players and an empty slot that you couldve filled

and even though it means youll have to deal with a team with 12 players later on

Sorry but what? I don't understand how anyone can justify this decision. How can anyone justify banning Chras from the tour for something Charmflash did?
Charmflash's unwillingness to trust anyone he doesn't know made it impossible to get a trade done.
This is bullshit. "Unwillingness to trust anyone" It's clear to see for everyone that this is being done out of spite so that Chras can't be traded to another team. It's even more bullshit that the hosts are allowing him to do this. Why would you take the fun out of the whole tournament for someone who contributed more to the tournament than most people by making the logos of 90% of the teams? Honestly, this should never happen to anyone, be it Chras or some random in the tournament. You can't just essentially ban a person from the tournament because his manager was being petty and didn't allow him to participate.

Just force him to trade to another team. If he does the same thing to the traded player, as he did with chras, then just remove him as a manager. It's meant to be a tournament for fun. We do these tournaments twice a year and most players like Chras come out of inactivity just to participate in these tournaments. You can't take this away from him.

This sets a really bad precedent too. What's stopping the next manager in the next MWP to do this to someone they don't like? What if a manager dislikes someone and wants to make it so that they can't play in the tournament? You're going to be forced to do the same thing to them too.

^big detterent from people who want to join the monotype community if they see all of this, "oh in the newest tour the manager wouldnt let him play because he doesnt like him so then as a result he got banned from the tour" is how this looks, who wants to join a community making decisions like that and taking away this guys chance at having fun
