Hello, my name is Jordi (067jox) and today I made a new RMT. Today I laddered together with Fille and we made it to 30-0 first try. So grab a beer, open showdown and get some free wins.

I could not sleep 3 days ago and thought about mons. I had a gamble Shellder set that Zorodark used in lcwc but it just did not do the job well enough. Everyone likes to gamble but making the gamble a 100% is of course a lot better. Shellder could not 1hko max def Foongus, Mareanie or Mienfoo with +2 adamant Z Explosion but with rocks it could. UGH it was so irritating risking it but then I thought.... what if you lead off with Diglett, set up Stealth Rocks and click Memento afterwards. Then you can set up with Shellder and go ham. I wen't to sleep and created this team.

After the Shellder Diglett combo I wanted some more abusers. I first thought about Tirtouga, but found out that Magby is really insane in this meta with this current setup. Magby gets a free setup on both Foongus and Spritzee while Shellder sets up on the physical mons. Of course i could not leave out the Zigzagoon as Shellder and Zigzagoon both struggle against steel types but one can weaken the check for the other.

Aurora Veil is sooooo broken, right?? I don't care about Aurora Veil. Sometimes you need more than just a Momento and Stealth Rocks to get the ability to sweep. Just because of that I added both Magnemite and Abra. Magnemite can trap Ferroseed and other Magnemites and set up both Reflect and Light Screen on them. It can also remove them of course and use Explosion after setting up the screen to not lose momentum. Abra on the other hand is more as a failsafe as it can switch into other sweepers and stop them by using psychic, encore or light screen. Abra can also help getting the sweep going by abusing Encore / Light Screen.

The Team

1548199802966.png

Poseidon (Shellder) @ Normalium Z

Ability: Skill Link
Level: 5
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 36 HP / 236 Atk / 116 Def / 116 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Liquidation
- Explosion
- Icicle Spear
- Shell Smash

Shellder has 12 speed and might be better with 13 speed once people see this set. No one will switch in a 17 speed scarf to revenge shellder and outslowing lead foo is always nice as you don't recieve the damange at -1. +2 Z Explosion kills literaly everything with Stealth Rocks up and Icicle Spear is a nice move to break Abra.

1548199827174.png

Aphrodite (Diglett) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Arena Trap
Level: 5
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 36 HP / 236 Atk / 236 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Memento
- Stealth Rock
- Protect

You should lead off with Diglett 9/10 times. Stealth Rocks are really important for this team so try to get those up as soon as possible. Diglett has Protect for lead Mienfoos with Fake out and Memento to sweep with the next pokemon.

1548199814131.png

Hephaestus (Magby) @ Berry Juice
Ability: Vital Spirit
Level: 5
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 236 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
IVs: 29 HP
- Fire Punch
- Mach Punch
- Thunder Punch
- Belly Drum

Because of Vital Spirit, Magby can set up for free on Foongus. Try to abuse this fact as you can end an sweep against Foongus or Spritzee and continue it with Magby. I prefer Thunder Punch over Return on Magby as Chinchou is really not common at the moment and it can also hit pokemons like Frillish.

1548199673165.png

Artemis (Zigzagoon) @ Berry Juice
Ability: Pickup
Level: 5
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 132 HP / 196 Atk / 108 Def / 28 SpD / 36 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Extreme Speed
- Thief
- Seed Bomb
- Belly Drum

Zigzagoon does what it always does and it always will do the same. It sets up on weak or stat lowered mons and tries to sweep. I prefer Seed Bomb as a move just because I don’t think that protect is really that useful. Substitute might be fun but hitting Tirtouga and Onix is never a bad thing.
1548199848460.png

Chronos (Magnemite) @ Eviolite
Ability: Magnet Pull
Level: 5
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 240 Atk / 240 SpA
Rash Nature
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Reflect
- Light Screen
- Explosion

Trapping Ferroseed for this team is really nice just because both Zigzagoon and Shellder don't like to deal with it. once you trap it you can use Reflect and Light Screen to make the most out of your trap and continue sweeping.
1548199836284.png

Morpheus (Abra) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Magic Guard
Level: 5
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 240 SpA / 200 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 1 Atk / 30 Def / 30 SpA / 30 SpD / 30 Spe
- Psychic
- Encore
- Light Screen
- Hidden Power [Fighting]

Encore and Light Screen are here to make certain sweeps happen as you can lock a mon into a move somewhat of your choice and switch into the appropriate mon to abuse that. I chose Hidden Power Fighting as the last move as Pawniard can do a number to this team.

Threats

Snivy is a huge problem as you have limited switch-ins. You're basically always behind at this matchup so try to set up before it’s too late.
1548200999707.png
Pawniard is a doable matchup but it does counter 2 of the 3 setup sweepers. Try to take it down early.
1548201010686.png
Webs in general is a bad matchup but you can overcome this with using Z Shell Smash with Shellder. Keep in mind that most web teams have Gastly and make it so that only Shellder is your way of winning.
1548201023118.png
Frillish is a really hard matchup as it completely counter Shellder and does not give a shit about the rest of the team. Setting up with Magby before it comes in is probably the best way to handle it.

1548201036464.png
Staryu can cause some issues as you can't sweep with Magby if Staryu is alive but it also blocks shellder from setting up in front of it. Try to get a Light Screen up vs this matchup. Once you have a boosted Zigzagoon or Shellder you're good.

No one is using this thing but keep in mind that it does outspeed 12speed Shellder with scarf and counters Magby.

I feel like this team is the quintessential example of why I simply don't like SM very much. Similarly, there's not much to really do differently with this team.
  • Magnemite might be better off with a different EV spread, adding some bulk to forgo Special Attack evs (you set up Reflect and still beat everything, though potentially safer).
  • HP Fighting > HP Fire should be better on Magnemite simply due to Ferro losing/being neutered either way.
  • Zigzagoon might benefit from flipping your investment into its defenses (28 Def / 108 SpD) but that's fairly marginal and often a preference thing too.
That's literally all I can think of for this. Switching out anything doesn't really make sense, though tossing in a Vullaby or Pawniard either over Abra or Magby is certainly possible. But frankly I'm not sure that's really an efficient use of the teamslot.

30-0 is pretty impressive man.
