Unofficial Metagames Unwritten [A Pikachu Anti-Meta ZU Squad]

I COULD BE BANNED!
Hi everyone! Before, I show you guys the team, I first want to put off a disclaimer.

Disclaimer:
Some have speculated that I am quitting right after my ZU Seasonal game and rumors have arised that I am quitting out of spite and salt from losing to hax. First off, I want to address this as honest as I can. I am mainly a stall player, and I expect to lose from hax time to time. I will not say I’m not mad from losing that series because I honestly should’ve won it, but what I can say is that game is absolutely not the reason why I am quitting mons altogether. There is something going on in my real life that I have ignored and pushed aside for too long, and I have come to a conclusion with myself if I do not start finding a solution to this problem, it may negatively break a hole in my life. I had the intention to quit mons around three month ago because of this personal problem, but knowing who I am, I couldn’t because I was in the middle of writing my Abomasnow analysis. I wanted to finished what I started before closing this chapter of my life. But after a month of waiting and still have not received a check(I do not blame the ZU QC Team as I understand they have their own lives), I feel like I have put enough of my effort into this situation and have decided that I will not make myself feel miserable for something that I cannot control. Thus, the same situation was with my ssnl game. I finished what I already started, and I am ready to move on. I hope you all can understand and respect my actions. This is only the beginning chapter of my life. The rest is still unwritten.

Now off to the team!

Pikachu Anti-Meta Squad

Team Building Process:

I wanted to build a fun, but great team revolving around a wall-breaker Pikachu. I was inspired to make this team after losing to it from one of my ZU Seasonals Games as shown here. As you can see, Pikachu absolutely destroys stall and should not be an underrated threat, as its item Light Ball doubles its attack stat. This Pikachu set not only includes a power STAB option of Volt Tackle, but it includes coverage such as Knock Off(for bulky Evolite users such as Bronzor and for Psychic types such as Beheeyem), a high base power priority move(Extreme Speed), and even a special coverage move, Grass Knot to hit bulky ground types(e.g. Golem and Sandslash). The EV spread shown allows it to hit as hard as it can on the physical side with max attack EVs and even a +attack nature. The speed EVs given allows Pikachu to outspeed base 80 speed with 252 speed EVs without a speed boosting nature. A notable threat that it can outspeed includes Shiftry. The rest of the EVs are put into Special Attack for Grass Knot to hit as hard as possible.

The next member of the squad is Swanna. I originally had Z-Fly on this set, but you will see why I changed it later. I replaced it with Sky Plate, as I think it is the next best item option for Swanna, since Life Orb Recoil after Brave Bird recoil makes Swanna way too easy to wear down and is thus something that I don’t want to happen. Sky Plate essentially gives Swanna a Life Orb or Choice Band on Brave Bird, but the damage is increased just slightly less. Plus, Sky Plate being very uncommon will make your opponent think that you are Choice Band(if they are a try hard and see the damage does not match up when they calc), causing them utter confusing and rage. This physical Swanna set is extremely hard to switch into, as it includes both of its STAB(Flying and Water) and has Aqua Jet as a form of priority and Roost for longevity. I dropped Defog for Aqua Jet because I feel that it is important for Swanna to have some form of revenge killing options to take down weakened foes. Defog is an option, but Aqua Jet does work much better with my experience. It pairs very well as an offensive option with Pikachu, since it breaks [bulkier] Grass types and Ground types with a good secondary ability such as Bellossom & Shiftry and Camerupt, respectively.

I then selected a rocker that would pair well with Pikachu, and I came to a decision that it would be Mawile. The reason being is its access to Super Fang+Seismic Toss which helps Pikachu wear down its foes, so it can clean up late game with Extreme Speed, since it does nearly/ over half to almost all mons unresisted. Not only do these moves support Pikachu, but they break stall comfortably easy, as shown in this replay of me losing to hax. Lastly, its excellent defensive typing and ability Intimidate allows it to be extremely bulky and take a lot of hits and recover almost all of it up with Leftovers.

After these three selected teammates, I decided that I needed a member that can resist and/ or take Electric and Ground types well, as Pikachu does not have access to Lightning Rod, since it is not compatible with Extreme Speed. Thus, I came to a conclusion of Silvally-Ground. Now, you all are probably thinking that this is the most basic Defogger, but nope, Silvally does not have defog! Its moveslot is Multi-Attack, U-Turn, RestTalk, making it a great defensive pivot with max HP and Defense. The reason for not putting defog on this is because I wanted to make this RestTalk Vally and it needs Multi-Attack for STAB and U-Turn to pivot threats such as Pikachu and Swanna in safely.

The next member of the team, as you guess it, is a defogger- Shiftry! Shiftry is extremely dominant in the current meta with its dual STAB of Grass and Dark being unresisted towards most types. However, I am not running this cliche and boring set. Because the only types that can resist this combo & are viable mons are Fighting+Fire and the typing itself, I decided to make this Shiftry a Z-Hurricane Defog Support Shiftry. Its moves are Defog, Synthesis, Hurricane, and Knock Off. The EV spread allows it to outspeed opposing Shiftry without a Speed boosting nature and max speed base 70s, most notably Butterfree. The rest of its EVs are poured into its defense stats to make it as bulky as possible to tank shots better as a support. This is an excellent lure set for not only opposing Shiftry, but towards the likes of Monferno and Combusken as well, making it a great surprise factor to this team.

The last member of the team is CroLicki also known as ThicciLicki with a Curse + RestTalk set shown here. This is the team’s special wall, as well as another RestTalker with Silvally-Ground. This is a great set for surprising opponents, since most expect a Wish Support Licki. This can also clean late game if its checks are eliminated(Fighting types, strong special/ physical hitters). Komala is another option for this slot with BU+WishTect Knock, although it’s extremely boring to play.

Explanations of the Nicknames:
(Quagsgone) Pikachu- Quags has this similar power energy that Pikachu possesses and I thought it only would be fair to put him as the star of the team.
(CrazyStevy) Swanna- This crazy powerful Swanna set accurately depicts how strong Stevy is as an individual from teambuilding & playing skills to willpower, Stevy has it all.
(PhantomHurious) Mawile- How could I not give my favorite sister the fairy type and resist on this team? You are an actual angel, nobody compares to you, and remember to always shine bright.
(Rav3ndan) Silvally-Ground- Rav is probably the most underrated ZU player there is. He is super good from his teambuilding to playing, which is why he has this defensive monster that drops to nothing.
(Tsareentje) Shiftry- Tsar probably already knows why he is the Shiftry of this team. Besides its crazy attack power, Tsar actually inspired me to put Synthesis on Shiftry, as I cracked up when I saw him use it once. Great set Tsar!
(Sketchy Ecchi) Lickilicky- Sketchy, the probably #1 most nasty and skilled stall player of ZU. You taught me so much from stall, which is you are the PseudoStallLicki.

Of course, even after all of this, I cannot express my thanks and love towards the ZU Community. I had so much fun this past year and have grown exponentially as a person and a player. If I forgot to mention you, just know that you are really special too and be yourself. I wish you all the best, farwell ZU! The Rest Is Still Unwritten ~Natasha Bedingfield
