The voting phase is over! By its results, the winner of the Cycle 1 is DD + Sucker Punch by guilt trips . Congratulations! Your submission will be added to the Hall of Fame soon. Now, let's move on to the next Cycle!

Cycle Two - Grimmsnarl
:ss/grimmsnarl:

Being the wielder of the Prankster ability backed up with decent bulk and offensive presence, Grimmsnarl can use various utility moves to make itself a valuable teamslot! Grimmsnarl is most commonly seen as a Dual Screens setter on hyper offensive teams and some Bulk Up sets also appear sometimes, but its movepool actually allows it to pull off many more cool sets. Show them here guys!

Assault Vest Grimmsnarl
:grimmsnarl:@ :assault vest:

Grimmsnarl (M) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Frisk
EVs: 248 HP / 240 Atk / 20 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Sucker Punch
- Darkest Lariat
- Fire Punch
- Spirit Break

This is the Grimmsnarl set I have been running since post Dmax-ban. In addition to its base 120 high Atk stat and natural bulky HP and SpDef stats, assault vest takes it to a higher level as a hard-hitting tank, makes it withstand Life Orb Flash Cannon from Hydreigon effectively, tho it might be better to run 60 spdef to tank a +2 variant better.
It can hard switch into Dragapult, Hydreigon, Rotoms, notably most special attackers. Darkest Lariat + Spirit Break are both its STAB moves that hit ghosts, dragons, fightings and chip a huge chunk on anything that isn't resisted by them, such as Excadrill(as Darkest Lariat into Sucker Punch always kill Excadrill).
Sucker Punch ensures you can kill Dragapult, Gengar, Dugtrio after rocks, and worn down mons such as Aegislash, without taking chip damage from them. Fire Punch 2hko Ferrothorn, forcing roost on Corviknight and overall a good coverage move against steels.

Bonus: unlike other Grimmsnarl, this set runs Frisk, to let you get an upper hand on enemy mons info (scarfed or not scarfed)

Calc:
252 SpA Life Orb Hydreigon Flash Cannon vs. 248 HP / 20 SpD Assault Vest Grimmsnarl: 185-218 (47 - 55.4%) -- 73.4% chance to 2HKO
240+ Atk Grimmsnarl Darkest Lariat vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Excadrill: 214-253 (59.2 - 70%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
240+ Atk Grimmsnarl Sucker Punch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Dugtrio: 204-241 (96.6 - 114.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

Choice Band Trick

:ss/Grimmsnarl:

Grimmsnarl (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 192 HP / 252 Atk / 64 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Darkest Lariat
- Spirit Break
- Thunder Punch / Drain Punch
- Trick

CB + Trick Grimmsnarl is a cool option to cripple down the many walls running around currently on ladder and in the tour-usage of the SS OU Metagame like Clefable, Corviknight, Ferrothorn and Seismitoad.

It can also cripple offensive mons with its option in Trick to make them unable to set-up infront of it because they are locked into on of their attacks.

It has the Adamant Nature to have the maximum amount of damage output and its strong Dual-STAB-Options in Darkest Lariat and Spirit Break.
Thunder Punch can hit the likes of Corviknight by surprise and Drain Punch is there to gain some health back during the game to have some kind of recovery.

Grimmsnarl (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 32 Def / 148 SpD / 76 Spe
Careful Nature
- Darkest Lariat
- Bulk Up
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

BU rest talk allows you to set up on stronger mons than the usual sub BU, due to having recovery. The EV spread is designed to be able to abuse BU corvik, avoiding the 2hko from brave bird (even after rocks) at the same level of boost, while the speed creeps it, meaning you don't have to rely on getting the right moves with sleep talk to 1v1 it. The rest is dumped in SpD to better deal with threats like Dragapult and in general have more bulk on the side you're not boosting. Darkest lariat is the attack of choice as it ignores defense boosts, which is why it beats BU corv. Unfortunately this set doesn't have room for fairy STAB, so doesn't deal with hydra or conk as well as the standard BU set.

EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Bulk Up
- Sucker Punch
- Darkest Lariat
- Play Rough

Cool breaker that can really abuse those teams with Clef/Mandi as their main dark resist, with Lum it can set up without much fear vs stuff like Seismitoad and Pex but also working as a check for wisp pult. EVs can be customized (mainly speed evs), usually with Adamant max speed so you can at least tie with Modest max speed LO Clefable or with 136 EVs in speed to outspeed Conk.

Mr. Steal Your Boosts

Grimmsnarl (M) @ Babiri Berry / Focus Sash
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 68 Atk / 128 Def / 60 SpD
Impish Nature
- Power Swap
- Sucker Punch
- Spirit Break
- Drain Punch / Thunder Wave

Overview: Grimmsnarl is the only Pokemon with access to the combination of Power Swap and Prankster, meaning it can priority steal Attack and Special Attack boosts (through Substitute and Phantom Force even) from non-Dark type Pokemon (since it's Prankster-boosted, Dark-types are immune to the move altogether). This lets Grimmsnarl work as a pretty good emergency check to several sweepers, although ideally your team has another more reliable answer as well since this Grimmsnarl set doesn't negate defensive or speed boosts. There aren't too many setup sweepers nowadays, but this Grimmsnarl set can ruin sweeps of stuff like Kommo-o (Belly Drum and Clangorous), Nasty Plot Hydreigon, Swords Dance Bisharp and Excadrill, and Throat Spray/Shift Gear Toxtricity.

Item(s): Babiri Berry is the item of choice for most teams, since this lets Grimmsnarl have a much better chance of checking Nasty Plot Hydreigon, Aegislash, Bisharp, and Excadrill. Focus Sash is an alternative if you REALLY need to make sure that Grimmsnarl can take away the Attack/Special Attack boosts of a certain threat, but is probably worse in general.

EV spread: The given EVs can be tweaked, but I'll list some of the benchmarks this spread hits. 68 Attack means Sucker Punch OHKOs 252 HP Aegislash in Blade Form, while also OHKOing 0/0 Bisharp with Drain Punch. It also lets Drain Punch into Sucker Punch take out Excadrill. The 60 SpDef means that Timid non-Specs Toxtricity can't OHKO Gainz Goblin with Sludge Wave at base, while also letting Grimmsnarl more comfortably take Flash Cannons from boosted Hydreigon and Kommo-o. The remaining EVs are dumped into Defense to let Grimmsnarl check physical setup sweepers like Excadrill, Bisharp, Tyranitar, and Hawlucha more easily. Feel free to reallocate EVs to handle certain threats as needed!

Moveset:
Power Swap is mandatory, since that's what this set is built around. Sucker Punch is great since Grimmsnarl is slow even with max investment, and even with little Attack investment, a boosted STAB Sucker Punch can really hurt coming from base 120 Attack. Sucker Punch also lets Grimmsnarl get off damage before going down to an opposing setup sweeper, making it easier for whatever you send in next to threaten the opposing Pokemon. Spirit Break is necessary to take on Hydreigon and Kommo-o, which this set can do fairly effectively. The guaranteed Special Attack drop it causes is quite useful too, hindering common switch ins like Clefable and Hatterene and giving an easier switch in for Grimmsnarl's own teammates. The last move slot is pretty flexible. Drain Punch is likely the all-around best option, as it lets Grimmsnarl do something against Dark-types immune to Power Swap and potentially surprise them with the OHKO, while also giving at least some form of recovery. Thunder Wave is to really dumpster setup sweepers even harder-steal their boosts, then paralyze them and likely neuter them for the rest of the game.

Choice Specs Trick

Grimmsnarl (M) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Focus Blast
- Trick
- Nasty Plot
- Dark Pulse

Dark Pulse is for neutral coverage on most mons. Most teams expect you to be running Spirit Break for Hydrei, but let’s be honest, they probably won’t be sending in Hydrei against your Fairy type. Focus Blast is for Ferrothorn and Tyranitar.

Jollly Grimsnarl with LO for the added power. You outspeed and succ your health back on bisharp, you outspeed clefs and conks and aegis (idk how much aegis matters when you have sucker but still), and yeah this is straight forward lol. Bulk up and click attacks. An alternate is taunt > drain so rotom heat cant will-o you.

Black Glasses BU.
44 spe outruns relaxed Toad and corv.
The given EV's allow it to take a Flash Cannon from Aegis and the rest is dumped into Attack.
Dark-Fairy is amazing good, as only Weezing-Galar resists it(I think) and once it gets 2 bulk ups off, it's hard to stop it.
I also saw Lord Emvee use this so ;-;

Bulk Up + Taunt

Grimmsnarl @ Leftovers
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
-Taunt
-Bulk Up
-Sucker Punch
-Spirit Break

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Moveset
Grimm’s movepool and ability have incredible synergy for offensive sets. Unlike Substitute variants, this version stops opponents from recovering and other status moves, enabling Grimm to accomplish something even if it can’t stay in long; it can simply Taunt as needed and switch out. Prankster Taunt is icing on the cake of course. Bulk Up nabs boosts obviously.
Onto the attacking moves.
Sucker Punch is preferred over Darkest Lariat because of two reasons. First, it enables Grimm to check Aegislash, Dragapult, and other fast mons, and can clean up offense after a Bulk Up or two. Second, it works well in tandem with Taunt. There’s no mind games with Sucker Punch when the opponent is forced to attack. This helps break past fat fairy resists such as Toxapex, provided you aren’t burned by Scald. Spirit Break is a reliable Fairy STAB that pseudo-buffs Grimm’s special bulk. Standard stuff.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Set Details

EV spread maximizes power and speed, but some speed can easily be shifted to HP if that better suits the team. To best take advantage of passive pokemon, Leftovers are used.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Usage Tips
This set fits best on bulky offense teams looking for a way to reliably pressure slower teams while maintaining usefulness against offense with Sucker Punch. It can also serve as a breaker and Dragapult check for Hyper Offense.
Good partners for this set are Pokémon able to wear down Ferrothorn, Toxapex, Sylveon, and Clefable, as the first two can prove annoying to fight at full HP and the latter two can threaten it with Hyper Voice and Moonblast, respectively. Some examples include Dugtrio, Rotom-Mow, and Hydreigon. In return, Grimmsnarl can check Rotom variants, Corviknight lacking Iron Head, and revenge killers such as Dragapult.
If this is too similar to other submissions or whatever don’t hesitate to let me know, I have other spicy ideas to use :pimp:
SleepRest Grimmsnarl
Grimmsnarl (M) @ Chesto Berry
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 148 Atk / 32 Def / 76 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- Spirit Break
- Darkest Lariat
General idea
I'd like the idea to use a Prankster-boosted SleepRest strategy in order to stall the opponent while dishing out some damage from an EVs-invested Adamant Grimmsnarl.
Rest is also a good option in order to get rid of annoying status (mainly burn and poison) asap.
The ability preferred is Prankster because it gets access to two things:
(1) Priority recovery;
(2) Prankster Sleep Talk (with a 66% chance to fish out an attack) in order to attack with a priority attack.
EVs spread and item
252 HP EVs + 32 Def Evs is here to avoid being 2HKOed by 56 Atk-EVs Corviknight's Brave Bird while 76 Spe allows Grimmsnarl to outspeed 16 Spe-EVs Corviknight: this is important if you want to use Rest without the berry.
Chesto Berry is here in order to recharge the HP bar in one turn.
Team(mates) support
This Grimmsnarl is designed to be a bulky tank that dishes out some damage (that is nicely high considering the Adamant nature) and recharges its own hp throughout the match. One big issue is 4MSS, so you can't really sweep with this thing but "only" spread (a lot of) damage.
Grimmsnarl (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 36 HP / 252 Atk / 220 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Spirit Break/Fake Out
- Thunder Wave
- Flatter
- Bite
Access to priority Parafusion Tactics makes Grimmsnarl a prime annoyance and an unreliable status abuser. Should you be fortunate enough to land your Twave, flatter is an accurate alternative to swagger that prevents physical breakers from potentially benefiting from it. Twave + Confusion + Bite = roughly 12%( or 35% lol math) chance to move per turn. Sure to trigger some profanity filters somewhere. Fake Out can further enchance the frustrating experience by guaranteeing one turn of no movement. Spirit break prevents you from being hard walled by Hydreigon and other dark types, while doing more damage than bite. 220 Speed allows you to outspeed paralyzed max speed dragapult, and ohko with spirit break.
That's not how percentages work. I'm assuming you're adding up the odds (30% flinch + 33% confusion + 25% paralysis), but you should be multiplying the odds of getting to act. If you do that, you'll get a much less impressive result of 0.7*0.67*0.75 = 35% chance to act, or a 65% chance to skip your turn. That's significantly less payoff for two turns of setup, especially when one of them gets negated as soon as the opponent switches out.
