sorry for the ridiculous delay on this week, my memory sucks

congrats to Ramolost on winning again with his Choice Specs Galarian Weezing!

Now, who are we looking at this week? It's time to shed some light on th- wait, where'd the light go?
:ss/necrozma:
Oh, that makes sense! I guess Necrozma uses photon energy to power its massive movepool, which lets it do far more than the already impressive 3 standard sets. Show us what you can do with it! Submissions close on Monday so we can get back on schedule.
Here's the analysis

pokemonisfun

Banned deucer.
Necrozma @ Chesto Berry
Ability: Prism Armor
EVs: 252 HP / 20 Def / 236 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Iron Defense
- Stored Power
- Rest

It's very similar to Reuniclus who runs a Stored Power set with Acid Armor, Calm Mind, and Recover. But your extra speeds means you can set up vs powerful Pokemon one v one like Choice Specs Sylveon and non Leek Sir Fetched which Reuniclus can't do. Unfortunately, you have to rely on Chesto Berry + Rest which is probably initially better than Reuniclus' recovery but it's only reliable one time compared to Reuniclus' Leftovers + Recover + Magic Guard which last through the game.

Necrozma @ Choice Specs
Ability: Prism Armor
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Prismatic Laser
- Photon Geyser
- Heat Wave
- Earth Power
This thing is what happens when you think "what happens if I condense an atom bomb into a single Pokemon"

252+ SpA Choice Specs Necrozma Prismatic Laser vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Sylveon: 337-397 (85.5 - 100.7%) -- 87.5% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
252+ SpA Choice Specs Necrozma Prismatic Laser vs. 252 HP / 36+ SpD Milotic: 309-364 (78.4 - 92.3%) -- 37.5% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
252+ SpA Choice Specs Necrozma Prismatic Laser vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Rotom-Wash: 399-469 (131.2 - 154.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ SpA Choice Specs Necrozma Prismatic Laser vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Gigalith in Sand: 235-277 (62.8 - 74%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

The other moves are just there for beating resists but this is PRISMATIC LASER like unless your name is Incineroar or Umbreon you're not a resist. I guess not having to recharge is nice but that's for wimps anyway.

reserving 3 attacks moonlight

-hs
:ss/necrozma:
Necrozma @ Life Orb
Ability: Prism Armor
EVs: 32 HP / 252 Atk / 224 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Photon Geyser
- Knock Off
- Earthquake
- Moonlight

ok so i first wanted to submit the spA 3 attacks moonlight but this one was too classic (idk why its not in the analysis, so something else popped up in my mind. It's basically the same idea but physical. I feel like physical will make it easier to break through most balance, ty to the broken move knock off and that Necrozma life orb does enough to defensive walls when its more easily walled by spDef walls like Reun or Gigalith. Moonlight is here because its edgy fuck morning sun pokeisfun knows and enough speed to outspeed modest toxt and 32hps so you have rolls in your favor. Necrozma 3atk moonlight could be a cool pick in BOs.
252+ Atk Life Orb Necrozma Photon Geyser vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Sylveon: 192-227 (48.7 - 57.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

-1 252+ Atk Life Orb Necrozma Earthquake vs. 248 HP / 108 Def Incineroar: 177-211 (45 - 53.6%) -- 36.3% chance to 2HKO

-1 252+ Atk Life Orb Necrozma Earthquake vs. 200 HP / 0 Def Incineroar: 200-237 (52.4 - 62.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252+ Atk Life Orb Necrozma Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Pangoro: 168-198 (50.7 - 59.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

252+ Atk Life Orb Necrozma Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Gigalith: 218-257 (58.2 - 68.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

Welcome back to subpar sets with subpar players. on this episode we have something that even low ladder players think is garbage
1590707107919.png

Necrozma @ Light Ball
Ability: Prism Armor
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpA
Adamant Nature
- Fling
- Thief
- Moonlight
- Photon Geyser

so you fling the light ball to para something, but whats that second move? thief then allows you to yoink the item of the pokemon you just paralysed. doublade think he's nice. nah para'd then yoink his eviolite. photon geyser and moonlight also allow this mon to have some form of utility after it did its gimmick. umbreon ruining your day? para it then steal its lefties!

Poggers to Lilburr for winning with her Choice Specs Necrozma!

I noticed that there were some dual slates for similar mons in last gen's Next Best Thing, so here we have two very intimidating fire boyes.

Incineroar @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 Spe
Impish Nature
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- Flare Blitz
- Knock Off

Physically defensive Rest Talk lets you be a much better check to DD Necrozma, Scyther, and Rillaboom. While you lack Arcanine's speed and instant Recovery, you still have the usual Incineroar benefits like Psychic immunity, a strong Knock Off, plus recovery that heals status. Specially Defensive works too to beat threats like Indeedee more easily.

Entei (Arcanine) @ Life Orb
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Flare Blitz
- Wild Charge
- Extreme Speed
- Morning Sun/Teleport

It's really easy to forget Arcanine has a pretty good atk stat, along with a wide movepool that allows it to caught it's checks/counters by surprise with Wild Charge, and / or an Espeed to clean late game. It also can run teleport as a way of getting momentum on your opponent, allowing a free grass/electric to enter freely.
Here's some calcs:
252 Atk Life Orb Arcanine Wild Charge vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Vaporeon: 224-265 (48.2 - 57.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
252 Atk Life Orb Arcanine Wild Charge vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Noivern: 138-162 (44.3 - 52%) -- 16.8% chance to 2HKO
-1 252 Atk Life Orb Arcanine Close Combat vs. 248 HP / 108 Def Incineroar: 195-231 (49.6 - 58.7%) -- 99.6% chance to 2HKO

Incineroar @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Flame Charge
- Bulk Up
- Knock Off
- Close Combat

This set is pretty strong in HO with screens. It is able to hold very well the physical moves thanks to bulk up and to be placed on pokemons such as Gigalith, Rhyperior ...
It's the pokemon in HO that you put at the end once his check is weakened.

choice spex 3 attacks teleport arc

:arcanine:
Arcanine @ Choice Specs
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Flamethrower
- Dragon Pulse
- Scorching Sands
- Teleport

choice specs 3 attacks arcanine can catch many pokémon off guard with its insane power when paired up with a modest nature and the chopice specs item as it is able to OHKO multiple of its checks and/or do hefty damage output to its checks in gigalith, noivern, flygon and rhyperior. it also can catch chandelure off guard with scorching sands.
flamethrower is the powerful stab-move and dragon pulse helps against flygon and noivern as it is able to OHKO them with modest nature. scorching sands however can help vs pokémon like rhyperior and especially gigalith and has a 30% chance of burning these foes making them useless for the rest of the battle as they not even weakened but also crippled due to a possible burn. teleport maintains as a slow momentum move on this set and is able to bring in other threats of your team healthy on the battlefield against the opposition.

calcs:
252+ SpA Choice Specs Arcanine Scorching Sands vs. 252 HP / 252 SpD Solid Rock Rhyperior: 178-210 (41 - 48.3%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ SpA Choice Specs Arcanine Scorching Sands vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Gigalith in Sand: 116-138 (31 - 36.8%) -- guaranteed 4HKO after Leftovers recovery

252+ SpA Choice Specs Arcanine Dragon Pulse vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Noivern: 306-360 (98.3 - 115.7%) -- 87.5% chance to OHKO
252+ SpA Choice Specs Arcanine Dragon Pulse vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Flygon: 306-360 (101.6 - 119.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ SpA Choice Specs Arcanine Scorching Sands vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Chandelure: 228-270 (87.3 - 103.4%) -- 18.8% chance to OHKO
