[OVERVIEW]

Gastrodon is an incredible mixed wall for balance teams due to its incredible typing and access to Recover. Its ability in Storm Drain gives it an important Water immunity that allows it to switch into threats such as Rotom-W and scout Keldeo with a Choice item, while Gastrodon's stellar typing lets it reliably switch into most Fire- and Electric-type Pokemon not running specific coverage for it such as Rotom-H, Thundurus-T, and Chandelure. It additionally serves as a consistent answer to Nidoqueen. Gastrodon, however, carries a quadruple weakness to Grass, leaving it taken advantage of by Grass-type Pokemon such as Tangrowth and Amoonguss. Gastrodon is also vulnerable to coverage from threats such as Nihilego with Grass Knot and Gyarados with Power Whip. Gastrodon is also rather passive due to its mediocre attacking stats, it relies heavily on status to make progress in games, and struggles to stop setup sweepers such as Kommo-o and Gyarados. Zarude being very problematic as Jungle Healing prevents it from being crippled by Toxic or a Scald burn. Gastrodon is also crippled by status, as it bleeds into its longevity, with Toxic specifically forcing it to leave the field often to avoid being taken out by chip.

[SET COMMENTS]

Gastrodon's main STAB options in Scald and Earthquake allow it to generate offensive presence while on the field, with the former having potential to spread burns onto the opponent. Ice Beam pressures Salamence while catching Grass-types off guard, but due to Gastrodon's relatively weak attacking power, it is unable to 3HKO Amoonguss or Zarude. Dropping Scald also gives Gastrodon no way to punish Scizor. Toxic allows Gastrodon to passively chip bulkier targets such as Rotom-W and Salamence which otherwise don't care too much for Gastrodon's STAB attacks. Clear Smog is useful for stopping setup sweepers such as Calm Mind Galarian Slowbro, but it makes Gastrodon painfully passive. Heavy-Duty Boots allows Gastrodon to repeatedly switch in without being worn down by hazards, as they remove a large part of Gastrodon's functionality as a defensive Pokemon. Leftovers is an optional item to give Gastrodon passive recovery, but Heavy-Duty Boots is preferred due to how great ignoring hazard chip is. The spread allows Gastrodon to avoid being 3HKOed by Salamence's Hurricane and Nidoqueen's Earth Power while having enough defense investment to take on physical attackers such as Rhyperior and Barraskewda reliably. Gastrodon can also run a physically defensive spread, allowing it to better check Lycanroc-D, but powerful wallbreakers like Mamoswine and Diggersby can still overwhelm it easily.

Gastrodon belongs on balance and bulky offense teams, where its defensive capabilities shine the most. Grass-types such as Amoonguss are incredible for covering Gastrodon's one weakness, while Gastrodon checks the Fire-types like Moltres that would otherwise threaten them. Buzzwole and Celesteela can stomach physical attacks for Gastrodon while being solid Grass-resistant Pokemon. Fire-types such as Chandelure and Rotom-H appreciate Gastrodon's immunity to Water-type moves, as it can switch into those attacks for them. Lastly, Scizor in particular enjoys the presence of Gastrodon, as its access to U-turn helps bring it in to annoy Scizor's checks such as Moltres and Rotom-H. In return, Scizor can check Gastrodon's answers, such as Zarude and Tangrowth. Keldeo and Primarina are problematic Pokemon for Gastrodon to face, as their Choice Specs and Calm Mind sets can quickly overwhelm it, making Pokemon such as Amoonguss and Assault Vest Tangrowth valuable.

=============

Gastrodon can utilize a Curse set to attempt to be on the more offensive end, but it's highly niche due to how hard it is to set up, as well as threats such as Amoonguss, Tapu Bulu, and Tangrowth being able to easily make work of it.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Grass-types**: Grass-type Pokemon such as Tangrowth and Amoonguss take advantage of Gastrodon's 4x weakness to make quick work of it, as it has little to no way to answer them offensively and it folds to their STAB attacks.

**Strong Physical Breakers**: Wallbreakers such as Choice Band Scizor, Tapu Bulu, and Mamoswine can cut through Gastrodon.

**Setup Sweepers**: Galarian Moltres, Gyarados, and Swords Dance Scizor can threaten to break through Gastrodon's defenses after setup but must be wary to not get hit by status in their attempt to set up.

-Despite being tiered in NU, Gastrodon still holds a notable niche as a defensive Pokemon in the UU metagame.
-Gastrodon is an incredible mixed wall for balance teams due to its incredible typing and access to Recover
-Its ability in Storm Drain gives it an all too important water immunity that allows it to switch into threats such as Keldeo and Rotom-Wash not rly the best keld switch in unless it's max defense, which this one isn't
-Gastrodon can also reliably switch into most Fire- and Electric-type pokemon such as the aforementioned Rotom-Wash i'd mention heat here instead since you've already mentioned wash, Zeraora, and Victini mention that it needs to be wary of energy ball.
-Steel-Types types such as Jirachi and Celesteela also struggle to break through Gastrodon, while it can use STAB moves to put damage back onto them.
-Special Attackers such as Alakazam, Nihilego, and Nidoqueen these mentiones are a little iffy because zam is super strong and can break you with plot or psyshock and nihi carries grass knot pretty often, better mentions would be like thundurus, chandelure struggle to handle Gastrodon, as it's massive special bulk makes it an incredible defensive check to them.
-Gastrodon's quadruple weakness to Grass means it relies on Grass resists such as Tangrowth and Rotom-Heat to support it would add amoonguss as a mention since the two pair very well, maybe skarmory too.
-Gastrodon however, is rather passive due to its mediocre attacking stats, and relies heavily on status to make progress in games.
-Gastrodon also struggles to stop setup sweepers such as Conkeldurr bulk up conk isn't rlly a thing, clangorous soul kommo-o would be better if you want to keep this point. gonna have you add a clear smog mention later too so it'd be good to include that here, Tapu Bulu, and Gyarados from setup, as it's damage output isn't enough to directly threaten them, however Toxic is a good method of cutting their sweeps short.
-Gastrodon is also crippled by status, as it bleeds into its longevity, with Toxic specifically forcing it to leave the field often, to avoid being taken out by chip.

-Gastrodon's Main STAB options in Scald and Earth Power allow it to generate offensive presence while on the field, the former of the two having potential to spread burn onto the opposing team.
-Recover is Gastrodon's main only (unless you want to add a leftovers mention) form of recovery, letting it stay healthy over the course of matches.
-Toxic allows Gastrodon to passively chip at bulkier targets such as Rotom-Wash, Salamence, and Quagsire, who otherwise don't care too much for Gastrodon's STAB attacks.
-A Clear Smog mention would go well here over Earth Power or Toxic, it helps with not letting stuff like CM Latias/Keldeo boost in your face for free.
-Heavy-Duty Boots allow Gastrodon to repeatedly switch in without being worn down by hazards, an absolute necessity when placed against teams carrying Spikes or Toxic Spikes, as it removes a large part of Gastrodon's functionality as a defensive Pokemon. maybe include a leftovers mention instead
-The spread allows Gastrodon to avoid being 2HKO'd by Life Orb Latias, while having enough defense investment to take on physical attackers such as Zeraora and Victini reliably.
-However, Specs Keldeo is still able to break Gastrodon with Secret Sword, although non specs sets are outright countered. not true, calm mind can beat it

-Gastrodon belongs on balance or bulky offense teams, where it's defensive capabilities shine the most, allowing it's teammates to capitalize off its unique toolkit while it chips into the enemy team with its STAB moves and Toxic.
-Grass-types such as Tangrowth and Tapu Bulu are incredible for covering Gastrodon's one weakness, while Gastrodon also stuffs out the Fire-types that would otherwise threaten them.
-Skarmory and Celesteela both appreciate the defensive ability of Gastrodon as well, being able to stomach physical breakers for the slug while taking advantage of Gastrodon's Electric immunity. they're also great grass resists in general especially if something else has already gone to sleep
-Fire-types such as Victini and Rotom-Heat appreciate Gastrodon's immunity to Water-type moves, as Gastrodon can gain a boost from switching into the attacks otherwise meant for them.
-Scizor in particular enjoys the presence of Gastrodon, as it's access to U-Turn helps bring Gastrodon in when opposing Fire-types switch in to handle it, as well as Gastrodon's Toxic creating holes in the enemies' defenses for Scizor to punch through. i get what you mean but this needs to be reworded bc it makes it sound like gastrodon is some wallbreaker, which it obviously isn't. it should talk about how gastro can threaten or annoy scizor's checks like rotoms, zeraora, victini etc. rather than how sciz's uturn brings it in on them

-Ice Beam is an option for Gastrodon to help it pressure Flying-types such as Salamence and Moltres-Galar Galarian Moltres, while catching Grass-types off guard, but is unrecommended due to Gastrodon's relatively weak attacking power specifically it doesnt even always 3hko amoonguss and very rarely 2hkos bulu, i would mention that's why it's bad. also give a mention to sludge bomb which ohkos bulkless bulu after rocks
-Clear Smog allows Gastrodon to stop setup, but it's kit typically struggles to fit this in, so it only serves as a niche choice.
-Gastrodon can utilize a Curse set to attempt to be on the more offensive end, but it's highly unrecommended due to how hard it is to set up, as well as threats such as Amoonguss, Tapu Bulu, and Tangrowth being able to easily make work of it.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Grass-types**: Abusing Gastrodon's one typing weakness in Grass allows Pokemon of the typing such as Tangrowth and Amoonguss to make quick work of the slug, as it has little to no way to answer them offensively, and defensively folds to their STAB attacks.

**Taunt Users**: Gastrodon heavily relies on it's access to Recover and Toxic to perform its role, and Taunt strips those options away, making it vulnerable to being used as setup fodder. these barely even exist and the only one that actually takes advantage of gastro is mew which usually does other things anyway

**Choice Breakers Strong Physical Wallbreakers**: Choice Item Wallbreakers such as Banded Choice Band Scizor, Specs Latias, Banded Tapu Bulu, and Banded Mamoswine can cut through Gastrodon with some minor prediction, and Gastrodon simply is not bulky enough to take the massive damage output of these monstrous threats.

**Setup Sweepers**: Setup breakers such as Moltres-Galar Galarian Moltres, Bisharp, Gyarados, and Swords Dance Scizor can threaten to outright blast through Gastrodon's defenses after their respective setup moves, and Gastrodon has to status them with burn from Scald or Toxic to threaten their sweep, then leave to avoid being KOd if it can't finish the job in the next turn. would just reword this to say that they need to be wary of setting up in its face, bish can't take earth power and sciz/gyara hate burns while molt hates toxic

[OVERVIEW]

-Despite being tiered in NU, Gastrodon still holds a notable niche as a defensive Pokemon in the UU metagame. You don't need to mention where it is tiered. This causes a lot of issues in general due to shifts because we would have to update stuff like that way too frequently if stuff rose or dropped.
-Gastrodon is an incredible mixed wall for balance teams due to its incredible typing and access to Recover Just combine this with your first point
-Its ability in Storm Drain gives it an all too important water immunity that allows it to switch into threats such as Rotom-Wash Keldeo is worth a mention here to scout choice locked sets.
-Gastrodon can also reliably switch into most Fire- and Electric-type pokemon such as the Rotom-H Fire, Zeraora, and Victini.
-Steel-types such as Jirachi and Celesteela also struggle to break through Gastrodon, while it can use STAB moves to put damage back onto them.
-Special Attackers such as Thundurus-Therian, Chandulure, and Nidoqueen struggle to handle Gastrodon, as it's massive special bulk makes it an incredible defensive check to them.

This doesn't need multiple points about what it can defensively check. Just compress them into one/two lines. Thundurus-T and Chandelure can slide under elec and fire types. The steel-type point can just be removed. Then have a separate line how it is a fairly consistent answer to Nidoqueen.

-Gastrodon's quadruple weakness to Grass means it relies on Grass resists such as Tangrowth, Amoonguss, Skarmory, and Rotom-Heat to support it. Instead, just list the Pokemon it's vulnerable to because of this. Good examples would be mons that carry grass coverage like special victini and Nihilego preventing Gastrodon from being a reliable response to them.

-Gastrodon however, is rather passive due to its mediocre attacking stats, and relies heavily on status to make progress in games.
-Gastrodon also struggles to stop setup sweepers such as Kommo-oO, Tapu Bulu, and Gyarados from setup, as it's damage output isn't enough to directly threaten them, however Toxic is a good method of cutting their sweeps short. Gyarados can just OHKO with Power Whip, which is something to note.

-Gastrodon is also crippled by status, as it bleeds into its longevity, with Toxic specifically forcing it to leave the field often, to avoid being taken out by chip.

-Recover is Gastrodon's main form of recovery, letting it stay healthy over the course of matches.
-Toxic allows Gastrodon to passively chip at bulkier targets such as Rotom-Wash, Salamence, and Quagsire, I can't see many scenarios where Quag is the Gastrodon pivot. Use something like Latias or Kyurem instead. who otherwise don't care too much for Gastrodon's STAB attacks.

-Clear Smog is useful for stopping setup sweepers such as Calm Mind Latias or Keldeo, making for a decent alternative option.
-Heavy-Duty Boots allow Gastrodon to repeatedly switch in without being worn down by hazards, an absolute necessity when placed against teams carrying Spikes or Toxic Spikes, as it removes a large part of Gastrodon's functionality as a defensive Pokemon.
-Leftovers is an optional item to give Gastrodon passive recovery, but Heavy-Duty Boots are much preferred due to how great ignoring hazard chip is.
-The spread allows Gastrodon to avoid being 2HKO'd by Life Orb Latias, Can you state the move that Latias is using while having enough defense investment to take on physical attackers such as Zeraora and Victini reliably.
-However, Specs Keldeo is still able to break Gastrodon with Secret Sword. This is something to bring up as potential team options that ease this matchup.

Mention a full phys def ev spread as an alternative to better check stuff like Keldeo, Lycanroc-D, CB Victini

-Gastrodon belongs on balance or bulky offense teams, where it's defensive capabilities shine the most, allowing it's teammates to capitalize off its unique toolkit while it chips into the enemy team with its STAB moves and Toxic.

-Fire-types such as Victini and Rotom-Heat appreciate Gastrodon's immunity to Water-type moves, as Gastrodon can gain a boost from switching into the attacks otherwise meant for them. I'd mention they can bring Gastro in safely against said foes, give examples though.

-Scizor in particular enjoys the presence of Gastrodon, as it's access to U-Turn helps bring Gastrodon in to annoy Scizor checks, while creating chip with its passive tools such as Toxic and scald induced burns for Scizor to take advantage of later in the match. What are some of these Scizor checks. You can also tie in how Scizor checks Kyurem for Gastrodon.

Add some partners that help with Keldeo. Specs and SubCM can easily overwhelm Gastrodon.

[OVERVIEW]

Gastrodon is an incredible mixed wall for balance teams due to its incredible typing and access to Recover, giving it a notable niche in the UU metagame. Its ability in Storm Drain gives it an all too important Water immunity that allows it to switch into threats such as Rotom-Wash and can scout choiced Keldeo with a Choice item some caution, (or Choice item Keldeo. keep the with some caution part if you want because this changes content) while Gastrodon'(Always use the ASCII apostrophe, not the curly one)s stellar typing lets it reliably switch into most Fire- and Electric-type Pokemon(C+) not running specific coverage for it such as Rotom-H, Zeraora lacking Grass Knot, Thunderus-Therian Thundurus-T,(AC) and Choice Band Victini. It additionally serves as a consistent answer to Nidoqueen. Gastrodon,(AC) however,(AC) carries a quadruple weakness to Grass, leaving it abused taken advantage of (Try to abstain from the use of "abuse" in analyses, because it is not a synonym for "take advantage of" or "benefit from".) by Grass-type Pokemon(C+) such as Tangrowth and Amoonguss,. while Gastrodon is also vulnerable to coverage from threats such as Victini with Energy Ball and Zeraora with Grass Knot. Gastrodon also is is also rather passive due to its mediocre attacking stats, and it relies heavily on status to make progress in games,(RC) and struggles to stop setup sweepers such as Kommo-o, Tapu Bulu, and Gyarados carrying Power Whip from setup. Gastrodon is also crippled by status, as it bleeds into its longevity, with Toxic specifically forcing it to leave the field often,(RC) to avoid being taken out by chip.

[SET COMMENTS]

Gastrodon's main(C-) STAB options in Scald and Earth Power allow it to generate offensive presence while on the field, with the former of the two having potential to spread burns onto the opposing team opponent,. while (opposing team is fine but if you want to keep this change do foes instead) Recover is Gastrodon's main form of recovery, letting lets it stay healthy over the course of a matches. (qc comment add examples of what recover helps you check or remove the point bc this point is just dex info now) Toxic allows Gastrodon to passively chip at bulkier targets such as Rotom-Wash, Salamence, and Latias, who which (don't refer to pokemon as who) otherwise don't care too much for Gastrodon's STAB attacks. Clear Smog is an useful for stopping setup sweepers such as Calm Mind Latias or and Keldeo, making for a decent alternative option, but it makes Gastrodon painfully passive. Heavy-Duty Boots allows Gastrodon to repeatedly switch in without being worn down by hazards, an absolute necessity when placed against teams carrying as Spikes or Toxic Spikes hazards, as it removes a large part of Gastrodon's functionality as a defensive Pokemon,. while Leftovers is an optional item to give Gastrodon passive recovery, but Heavy-Duty Boots are is much preferred due to how great ignoring hazard chip is. The spread allows Gastrodon to avoid being 2HKO'd 2HKOed by Life Orb Latias's Draco Meteor (RC only use a comma before while if it means whereas) while having enough defense investment to take on physical attackers such as Zeraora and Victini reliably. Gastrodon can also run a Physically Defensive physically defensive (C-) spread, allowing it to better check Lycanroc-Dusk and Choice Band Victini.

Gastrodon belongs on balance or bulky offense teams, where its defensive capabilities shine the most, allowing its teammates to capitalize off its unique toolkit while it chips into the enemy team with its STAB moves and Toxic. (Seems like filler, but I might be wrong.) Grass-types such as Amoonguss are incredible for covering Gastrodon's one weakness, while Gastrodon also stuffs out the Fire-types that would otherwise threaten them. (Did you mean snuff out?) (i think so but that's weird wording in general so just say it checks them) Skarmory and Celesteela both appreciate the defensive ability of Gastrodon as well, being able to stomach physical breakers for the slug while taking Gastrodon and take advantage of Gastrodon's Electric immunity (RC) while being solid Grass-type resists Grass-resistant Pokemon to utilize resisting Grass-type moves. Fire-types such as Victini and Rotom-Heat appreciate Gastrodon's immunity to Water-type moves, as Gastrodon can gain a boost from switching into the attacks otherwise meant for them. (qc comment but the +1 is rarely relevant enough to mention so you could remove that last part) Lastly, Scizor in particular enjoys the presence of Gastrodon, as it's its access to U-Turn U-turn helps bring Gastrodon in to annoy Scizor's checks such as Magnezone and Rotom-H, while creating chip with its passive tools such as Toxic and scald induced Scald-induced burns for Scizor to take advantage of later in the match. while In return, Scizor can check menaces to Gastrodon’s existence Gastrodon's answers, such as Kyurem. Keldeo is an incredibly problematic Pokemon for the slug Gastrodon to face, as its Choice Specs and Calm Mind sets can quickly overwhelm Gastrodon, making Pokemon such as Latias, Amoonguss, and Slowking are valuable for offering support in handling it.

Ice Beam is an option for Gastrodon to help it pressure Flying-types such as Salamence and Galarian Moltres, while catching Grass-types off guard, but it is unrecommended due to Gastrodon's relatively weak attacking power, rendering it unable to 3hko 3HKO Amoonguss, (RC) and 2hko 2HKO Tapu Bulu. Sludge Bomb can OHKO Tapu Bulu with no bulk investment after Stealth Rock, but it's an extremely niche option that causes you Gastrodon to pass up on a generally more useful move. Gastrodon can also utilize a Curse set to attempt to be on the more offensive end, but it's highly unrecommended due to how hard it is to set up, as well as threats such as Amoonguss, Tapu Bulu, and Tangrowth being able to easily make work of it.
