Contrary to popular belief, medieval scholars never believed that the Earth was flat. In fact, scholars since Anciety knew that it was round (in fact, they even knew almost precisely its size). The reason the myth was popularized is because, during the Reformation, Protestants spread the whole myth as a way to disfranchise Catholic teachings.

Not a really useful fact, but if you think about it, flat earthers believe a theory that no one has ever believed seriously.
