Curse is an interesting utility option that Gengar can sort of use well due to its high Speed: it is reliable, instant death, forcing the opponent to lose lots of HP quickly or switch out. Protect lets you scout out some extra chip damage, and the attacks chosen are obvious for the best coverage. Black Sludge gives you extra longevity to use Curse more often, while Focus Sash guarantees you will always live a hit to get off one Curse or attack in a pinch.

Used it a while back and, with a proper strategy for heatran, Weavile and Dragapult, it puts in a crazy amount of work. I will probably try it again. I used a different spread in the past, I think it was along the lines of 88 hp / 88 spatk / 80 spdef / 252 timid or something like that. Burned clef and pex never break your sub with moonblast/knock/scald. Pretty cool stuff

Week 58 - Blaziken



Blaziken is a former uber turned seldom seen HO mon, boasting solid mixed attacking stats alongside a great movepool and the ability Speed Boost to circumvent speed control such as Dragapult as counterplay. Blaziken's potential has been mostly ignored beyond SD+3 attacks variants and the occasional unviable protect ,meaning theres quite a bit of inventiveness to explore.
