Welcome to the Other Metagames' Ghosting Tournament! In this tournament we ask - hey what if we just cheat. Like just bring the lads and play together. It'll be fun. Similar to other ghosting tours, the rules are as follows:

Battle Rules:
  • The metas to be in this tournament are: Almost Any Ability, Mix and Mega, and STABmons. Each week will feature a different metagame, starting with MnM and ending with AAA. More Metagames will be added, depending on interest.
  • Best of 1. If you tie, you'll need to repeat
  • If a change is made to the tier (a mon is banned/unbanned), the change doesn't go into effect until the next round.
  • If you're playing on the main server, please make the room public. You're going to have to post a replay anyway so there's no point in hiderooming. If your room is hidden, type /modjoin off and /publicroom.
  • Timer: Do NOT turn on the timer in your battle until after 30 minutes have passed since it started. Use the servertime command to keep track of this (see below). This is to allow enough time to properly ghost.
    • In order to keep track of 30 minutes, type !servertime in the chat when the battle begins. Type !servertime in the chat again when you want to turn the timer on. Agreement from both sides is not required.
    • If you're on SmogTours, ask anyone that has a %, @, or ~ next to their name to turn off the timer in your battle. Try to make sure that a staff member is online before you start playing. If there isn't one, play on Main.
  • Replays: you must post a replay of your win. You can hide it or unlist it, but you have to post it.
Ghosting Rules:
  • You can ghost (clue's in the name).
  • Teams are to be made up of 3 players.
  • Your entire team should be present at a battle, so it's probably a good idea to form a team with similar timezones and availabilities. Depending upon certain situitations, you may be allowed to play with a player missing from your team. [ This will be reviewed on case by case basis ]
  • You must post logs of your ghosting along with your replay in your winpost (losers are also encouraged to post logs as it always fun to read them but are not required).
    • If you're playing on Main and have a trusted user on your team , make a groupchat (/makegroupchat) to do your ghosting. It makes it easy to just copy and paste the logs into a pastebin.
    • If you're playing on SmogTours or on Main but without a trusted user, use Discord, but make sure to copy and paste your logs while in compact mode.
    • If you're in a voice call, you'll need to record a video and audio of your call and, if possible, the battle. Upload it to YouTube.
Other than that, all tournament rules and guidelines apply (minus the ones about ghosting, obviously). Failure to comply with these rules will result in a loss or a coinflip.

  • Only the captain of a team needs to post. Captains: make sure to tag every member on your team.
  • Don't post to confirm; that just clutters up the thread (PM me if you're on a team you didn't agree to).
  • Captains can decide a teamname and an image to be associated with - don't be stupid with this.
  • People not on a team can post to be a free agent. Depending on signup numbers I may or may not form free agent teams. Priority will obviously go to complete teams.
Signups will be open for about a week, depending on the signup numbers.

pannuracotta cancered ndpl II (lph, pannuracotta, DerpyBoi ) Vs (Winner of FC is lucky and bad Vs Kerchoo)

This is an extremely anticipated matchup between two very hot teams with red-hot players. Lph is hot off a BH fall seasonal win -- and while this week stabmons is being played, having played both tiers myself I do think there are considerable parallels between the two tiers and I think lph's playing ability should translate here. I don't know too much about pannuracotta aside from the fact that they are a pretty prominent natdex and national dex anything goes player and have taken sets off of players like bacon and chazm, two top tier players who without a doubt validate his playing ability. Anyway, any gaps in meta knowledge should be taken up by the other two, who come in with much stronger grasps of the metagame. DerpyBoi is another solid mnm player who VERY quietly put up a strong 4-1 showing in OMPL and 3-2 showing in WCOM, in highly competitive pools with wins over players like Chazm and Fardin. Of course that was mnm! But the same thing I said about lph applies here about teambuilding and execution and game time performance. They will probably matchup whoever wins the other set.

French people and getting matched up early in team tours, name a better combo! From Dragonillis getting matched with PandaDoux round 1 of OM Championships, to a grand total of 9 French-French pairings in the first round of the most recent AAA open (yes, you read that correctly), setbacks for the incoming french dominance of OMs just seem to be neverending as of late. Anyway, this matchup should be much closer than the one above, especially given that all of these player frequently test with each other in OM teamtours and know each other's playstyles in-and-out, meaning that traditional record-based successes won't really tell the story of who's more or less likely to win. Palapapop's a rather aggressive player, and PandaDoux has pivoted recently from someone who exclusively uses fat teams to someone who only uses offensive teams, whereas Beka is the more passive builder who can cool the others of these two from pulling the trigger on every double switch. Meanwhile, Atha and Siamato especially are more fundamentally-based players who try to "play correctly" and often take a rather defensive approach to the game. I don't think I've seen Altthiel's name before; they may be a non-OM player who Atha and Siamato just pulled out of retirement to fit the theme of their team name. Anyway, if you look at recent tour successes, it's pretty clear that the retired rascals have done significantly better. But you can't go solely off records. I think the gap between both sides here exists but it's not like a 60-40 matchup it's more like a 55-45 or maybe a 57-43 skill matchup. This will come down to the wire and I think it will probably just come down to who gets matchup'd.

Kerchoo vs FC is lucky and bad - DuckeryDoodle contacted omi soon as round 1 went up but got no response. They also contacted Fc at some point of the week but the game could not get done. Both captains agreed to an extension although DuckeryDoodle did imply that their team may not be able to play in the extended time period provided. Extension deadline is now over and given that no game has been played , im giving team Kerchoo the activity win as they were proactive to get the game done during the original week.
