Catching a level 50 poke only confirms your delay again. It cannot confirm that you landed on the right frame for your target IVs. You can only check by rare candy or by IV battle.
Well.... I have never used a pikachu in a competition before so I'm just curious. Because I just got a timid surf pikachu from zachmac's giveaway but it's iv's aren't flawless or near flawless. :(
