All the arguments on either side have been said and done, and frankly, both of them make sense to a degree and there's no right or wrong here. But let's please move on before the thread gets locked again. I done these calculations myself a few days ago and I'm still not over how surprising...

Think it's about time Game Freak told us what exactly Home is. Because ever since its announcement we've heard various miscellaneous details about it which do sound interesting, but also confuses on what exactly it is and what direction it'll take. As Zowayix said, we also have no idea exactly...

I would definitely suspect Free Space in that case, then. Though that might just be my hope talking...

I imagine that the palette one is general customisation stuff; while Shiny Orb is Dynamax/Gigantamax related items. Gen 6 and 7 each had a separate pocket for their new big gimmick items, so it would make sense Gen 8 would do the same. That said, there's also a good possibility it could be 'Free...

The cup of that kid's trophy immediately falling off was. Painful to watch. Either way, the announcement seems to have been, uh... London?

Just wait for Zacian and Zamamamamamenta to have clones of Pressure and Snow Cloak

I feel like the new Trick Room item would be a lot more interesting if, say, it also increases defences or offences. As is it seems difficult to justify over giving any other item; even Dynamax.

Yeah, my first thought about rental teams is that it can become a workaround to the ridiculous entry barriers to competitive by just being able to use a team up front. I can definitely also see people making rental teams on request; this could be really fun.

    Orange Islands SQSA Thread

To add a possible third theory; I think it's simply to do with Gen 1's tendency to equate psychic powers to intelligence. Psychic = intelligence = medical knowhow = ability to beat poisons and toxins. You got a snake bite? Get medical attention soon enough and it should be fine.

    Worst Pokemon Sprites?

One day I'm gonna make a list of "New Smogon posts that are scary to read when you've forgotten the context". Not sure where this one goes, but it's at least shortlisted for the Top 5.

I wouldn't go as far as to say that Pokémon is one of the better looking examples on the switch. Many of my other games like Smash, Pokken and the like all manage to look very, very good. I'll also argue that it's not how high quality the polygons are; there's also other aspects that weigh...

To be completely honest, as someone who does still see problems with the graphics? I feel like most of the people going on about them wouldn't have started going on about them if it wasn't for Dexit. It was more or less just finding another reason to dislike the game -- and admittedly, it's not...

Pokémon also has precedent for it; making areas in games for Magneton/Nosepass, Glaceon and Leafeon to evolve. Of course their requirements are a lot less specific than "Alola", but it's enough precedent that I can imagine that's what they'd do. Good call. Recently I've been thinking about the...

Is this unpopular? Because I completely agree; if you look at any other big game franchise, even ones that have frequent releases have very big breaks between their bigger projects. Mario 3D World and Odyssey were a fair few years apart, for instance.

(Little) Things that annoy you in Pokémon

Oh there's certain Pokémon it makes sense for, yes. I was referring to the Starters, Fossils, Snorlax and Eevee.

I think I would actually be okay with a RSE-styled reboot in Gen 8 where nothing from the previous games are transferable. I've been thinking about this, and I feel one of the biggest things to me is that they're doing transfers in half-measures. Only some of your team can be transferred over...

(Little) Things that annoy you in Pokémon

12.5% female gender ratios is one of those things that made sense at the time - preventing the player from easily getting more of a rare Pokémon - but over time has just become more and more pointless, especially as they specifically make other breeding things easier including how easy it is to...

On the other hand, they have shown a commitment to continuity in... very odd, specific areas; such as evolution levels and stats. When they put, say, Rufflet in the earlygame in Alola; they did not bother to lower the evolution level for Braviary and/or adjust Rufflet's stats so it wouldn't be a...

In fact, that's exactly what LGPE did. I was worried it'd be broken going into it but yeah, it was fine.
