  1. USUM UU Viability Ranking Thread V2

Oh my goodness gracious, I remember why I wanted to stop posting here. One of those classics you really can't ignore. Given the sheer flexibility in its sets and overall its potential to kill unprepared teams, it's pretty much S rank. Beyond that? It's a mon that has been more consistent than...

Hello, out of boredom i've been thinking of ways to step up security. Couldn't automatically unregistering newly made alts that haven't been used in a week (not sure how many times it would need to be used, or the timeframe) solve the problem of spammers making new batches of alts, as well as...
  3. np: USUM UU Stage 6.1 - Échame La Culpa (Breloom unbanned, Buzzwole remains BL)

The meta in general is how i predicted. Gengar is where I said it would be, stakataka is falling out of usage, etc. I was wrong about marowak it's actually not that good. I've really enjoyed mega abomasnow, because a user of ice shard that also sets up is quite valuable and if you want you can...
  4. np: USUM UU Stage 6 - Chanel (Ninetales-Alola banned, see post 19)

How a meta feels has nothing to do with how an opinion is voiced, and many of the top players have voiced garbage opinions before anyway. Most of the top players feed off opinions by regular players in this thread too. The way the meta feels on the ladder gives you a good indication of how...
  5. np: USUM UU Stage 6 - Chanel (Ninetales-Alola banned, see post 19)

What Hikari doesn't get is that a strong argument doesn't correlate with how the meta feels when something is broken. A guy could say "yes xurkitree was broken because it was strong." and you would call him an idiot even though he is correct and then disenfranchise him. At the end of the day...
  6. np: USUM UU Stage 6 - Chanel (Ninetales-Alola banned, see post 19)

It's not even like ninetales sets up veil and dies, it sticks around long enough to be hard to kill on its own. If you dont get at least one kill with ninetales, youre going to set up veil 2 or 3 times minimum. Standard 2 mon veil can only do this once, maybe twice at best. EDIT: @ below - you...

Sage of the 6 inspired me to do a rank prediction. B- People wrongfully tend to assume that this will be used on rain teams. Rain really has nothing going for it, nothing at all. Instead, this will be much better running rain dance and then a z move. Even a crit set doesn't sound awful. It...
  8. Superstar Pearl's UU Secret Santa!

Got Ditto offense with no rocks, 10/10 would be santa again.
  9. Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon UU Viability Ranking

Knock off isn't supposed to do damage, it removes an item which is far more useful in longer games which are inevitable if using fat teams. Umbreon for example has no hope against a fat team or any team with recovery because foul play is a free switch for some mons, knock off isn't. The idea is...
  10. Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon UU Viability Ranking

Mega manectric will never be S rank material, it's way too one dimensional and has no lonevity in the longer games, making it incredibly hard to beat any team that knows how to punish free volt turn switches. It literally has one set, and without any form of recovery it is nothing like any of...

In the short term, maybe, In the grand scheme of things, no. This just forces kids to go out and play more which will drop the suicide rate in the long term. But again thats under the assumption that ISPs will increase their prices that much.
  12. Crypto Currency

I've discussed Cryptocurrency philosophy before, here are some thoughts, mostly around BTC: 1) BTC was intended to be mainstream. It is ideal for online trade. It never expected to run into other problems though. 2) One such problem is companies reject it. Amazon will probably never allow BTC...

There might not be evidence of a libertarian majority, but you certainly can't use internet message boards as an indicator of political opinions either. America does not have to care about what the rest of the world is doing in response, which is true for almost everything anyway. They really...

You're missing the key point, Orch. Net Neutrality was coming closer to being a law and actually enforceable, but with its removal we now have these vague "rules" which will attempt to stop ISPs from doing what they want, but wont. Here's a juicy line from the same place you quoted from...

The american health care system is a free market and look how well that's going. Sometimes you need government regulation.

Again, before you kill me, I realise that a draw button does not solve the problem that endless games still exist. But, to reiterate, it deals with the bulk of the issue until a concrete solution is found, which i think is better than letting it sit.

Sorry if I'm annoying I just want to find a solution. This is why I don't like the point about finding better solutions for a more consistently enforced rule, because essentially it's the Sunk Cost Fallacy - we've gone this far without a solution but instead of testing various things we want to...

That's why I pointed out the fact that all the ladder needs is some option for a draw, even if, like you said, the other player can simply not agree to it. In the large amount of cases both players *do* want a draw after 1000 turns, they just have no way to do so. Your point about the draw...

Since most endless battles happen on the ladder anyway just by the law of large numbers, we reduce the bulk of the problem this way. Much like tours have a platform for people to ask for draws, this gives the ladder one too where there previously was none.
