AG DLC and the Future of SWSH AG

We can use the deleted moves in NatDex. Anything not in the newest game retains the form it was in in its most recent appearance (gen 7 in this case). If gen 9 brings back megas and change how they work, then we now use gen 9 megas. If they stay out again, we keep using gen 7.

AG DLC and the Future of SWSH AG

I play Magic, and you’re clearly misinterpreting what I said to fit your own opinion. New errata is obviously applied. Tapu Koko’s terrain only boosts by 1.3 because terrain was nerfed, even though Tapu Koko isn’t in gen 8. Older formats keep all the old things that aren’t in the new format...

AG DLC and the Future of SWSH AG

I saw that thread go up yesterday, and since I’m not badged this seems like the best place to share my thoughts. I personally care more about NatDex OU than AG, but this discussion applies to both. Initially, I always tried to define the identity of NatDex through the lens of tranfer mechanics...

Regigigas did not have Protect and Rest in the past. However, the data from Home indicates that it does get them now. While I doubt it makes Regigigas an OU contender by any means, this means he does actually have tools now to be able to maaaybe survive the five turns of Slow Start in lower...

Metagame SS OU Metagame Discussion v3

Greetings! NatDex player here, but I’ve still been following the regional OU meta. I just want to comment on a few of the Pokémon returning with Home’s release that I have experienced in the other format: Melmetal hits like an absolute truck. Very few things take Banded Melmetal’s Double Iron...

252+ SpA Blastoise-Mega Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Clefable: 157-186 (39.8 - 47.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery SpDef Unaware Clef can wall Blastoise even with modest pump. Especially considering Unaware Clef usually runs Wish+Protect, allowing it to stall an extra turn of...

A reminder on these mons is that they’re no longer able to break their choice locks without dmax, which Volcanion especially can exploit to all hell. Vish locking into anything other than Rend is basically a free switch, as Vish without Rend is pretty weak. Volc can revenge GDarm even if it goes...

OU National Dex OU Metagame Discussion

The way I see it is that NatDex is built on the premise of SwSh gaining full transfer capabilities in the same way all prior games have had transfers, allowing all Pokémon and all moves to be brought forward as in prior generations. The Pokémon with NYPC moves were never transferrable to newer...

    Actually didn’t know that, neat.

National Dex General Information and Simple Questions Thread

On the subject of distribution of moves like Knock Off, this is how transfer moves have always worked in the past: Pokémon that could learn the move in a previous game could be transferred in with that move, even if there is no other way for them to learn it in the current game. Sword and Shield...

I see some people mentioning Clefable and Unaware. Seems people haven’t noticed that it’s legal now! Specifically, it’s been legal since about a day after the ladder switched out of beta, when they worked out the bugs in the teambuilder that came with that change. I was going to talk about it...

I disagree on Mega Venusaur being unviable. I’ve been using it and have found it quite effective. It may not be the best mega around (looking at you, Metagross), but it’s still quite strong, and can be hard to break for a lot of teams without the right counters. Good bulk, not being weak to fire...

One other to add: Dracovish Suspect We all know what Mr. Fish does. He comes in. He clicks the same move every time. He 2HKO’s even his bulkiest resists. Dracovish’s very existence pretty much mandates a Water Absorb user on any slower team or you’re basically guaranteed to lose a mon each time...

National Dex General Information and Simple Questions Thread

Speaking of bugs, I see that some progress has been made with the teambuilder (NatDex Pokémon are now visible without having to search for their names), but there are still some issues: Since the teambuilder update, NatDex Pokémon no longer show any of the moves they can learn in the editor...

I agree that Dynamax should go, but I also agree with Sereg that, as much as it is pretty much a foregone conclusion, it should be given a suspect test, and that test should start ASAP. The sooner it happens, the sooner we can get it out and move on. Unfortunately, we haven’t necessarily seen...

OU National Dex OU Metagame Discussion

I think a Dynamax suspect is definitely a good idea, and I would likely support a ban in that case. NatDex is a more powerful format than regional OU overall, which means it has both better Dynamax abusers and better options for counterplay, so I do believe we should suspect it for ourselves...

Good to know, zen mode is off-meta so I hadn't seen enough of it to be sure of what it runs.

I think Volcanion can also check the standard build of the fringe Zen Mode G-Darm, as they usually only run ice and fire attacks alongside sub and belly drum. I haven’t done calcs on this yet though, and it would obviously get obliterated by one running quake.

OU National Dex OU Metagame Discussion

Dude, by "returning" I meant "not new" (as in "returning for another generation", although you could also argue that Aegislash is "returning" to OU from Ubers), which should be obvious by the structure of my post and that fact, and I'm not sure why you felt the need to say this in response to an...

It does, and it runs it on Specs variants. I’m specifically talking about the set Substitute, Disable, Will-o-Wisp, Hex, which is popular in regular OU. It’s an interesting set to use, and is quite effective against a wide variety of Pokemon that only have one move capable of breaking...
