Metagame SS OU Metagame Discussion v4 (check out posts #483 and 484 for DLC1 info!)

Actually, looks like they gave it just enough SpA to threaten BU Corviknight. 64 SpA Magnezone Thunderbolt vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Corviknight: 204-242 (51 - 60.5%) -- 89.1% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

np: SS UU Stage 3: As the World Falls Down (Venusaur banned, see post 110)

Also: Smogon doesn't check broken threats with other broken threats, until the question of sun is settled (though there is talk that Venusaur was in fact The Problem) bringing Durant back is a mistake.

Resource SS OU Viability Ranking Thread [Pre-DLC]

Does Conk run either Drain Punch or Poison Jab? Facade is just barely weaker than Poison Jab against Fairies with way better neutral coverage and power, and Conk relies on Close Combat's damage output to reliably threaten walls.

Announcement np: SS OU Suspect Process, Round 2 - The Three of Us

Shed Shell gets nuked by random Knock Offs (now a problem again with Home) and less-random Trick/Switcheroo, which means your one counter to an opponent's problem Pokemon is now vulnerable to Dugtrio. And as has been said earlier, if Terrakion/Jirachi/Kink's mother becomes a problem it will be...

    Metagame Partners in Crime

The Gale Wings check happens before Aerilate (or still doesn't read it for some reason), and the two do not work together.

    OM Mashup Megathread

Is that Mewtwo-Y supposed to be using Light of Ruin instead?

    Metagame Mergemons

Xurkitree is quite slow; even after a boost it's very revengable by most Scarfers, especially given that it's still not boosting its Defense. I would be more worried about what Tail Glow can do to defensive builds now that it has Ice Beam and Focus Blast (Z-FB with Tail Glow and BoltBeam is...

    Metagame Megamons

Metagross has excellent bulk, a much better defensive typing (though if you start with Dusk Mane you get that typing), and a pretty huge speed advantage compared to Dusk Mane, Alakazam has actual bulk on the special side so it doesn't go down to someone flailing in its general direction and can...

    Metagame Mergemons

Where are we on the case of prevos accessing and passing moves? Them passing moves is kind of inconsistent right now. Yanmega can't access Earth Power from Yanma-Sunflora, while Steelix does get Trick Room from Onix but not U-turn from Gligar. EDIT: Steelix does not actually get Trick Room from...

    Metagame Linked

Dropping the team I've been using for a few weeks now. Sharpedo @ Sharpedonite Ability: Speed Boost EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe Jolly Nature - Crunch - Assurance - Earthquake - Protect The ostensible star of the show. Imagine Sharpedo got Swords Dance in standard; that's almost what you...

    AAA Almost Any Ability

The general offensive and defensive power of AAA are high enough that Mega Metagross is no longer head-and-shoulders above the competition. It can use a pre-Mega ability for something like Download or Drizzle to supplement it offensively or defensively, but it's still locked into Tough Claws...

    Metagame Camomons

The nature of Camomon's offense means that Latias-Mega was only barely just squeaking by with its best typings. Latias and Latios-Mega can still work as options against fatter teams (where Latias-M shined), but they won't be able to set up against offense like Latias-M could.

    Metagame Linked

Zeraora can link any Normal-type move after Plasma Fists for big damage. It's also not so frail that it fears Water Shuriken most of the time. Zeraora @ Expert Belt/Life Orb/Zap Plate Ability: Volt Absorb EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe Hasty Nature - Plasma Fists - Return/Frustration - Close...

    Metagame Workshop

You've got it, but rather than spam high power Pokemon with high power moves I'm looking for synergy between teammates (not that there won't be synergy with high BP/BST). Dragonite can give Tapu Koko Ice Beam for BoltBeam while Koko gives Wild Charge to Pinsir, freeing Close Combat for Dragonite.

    Metagame Workshop

This might be a little too kooky. Idea ripped from someone long ago but it's stuck with me ever since. Melting Pot Metagame premise: All six Pokemon on a team combine their movepools so that any Pokemon can use any move learned by another Pokemon on that team, but each move can still only be...

    Metagame Nature Swap

Wishiwashi's ability to soft check Hasty Kartana* when Kartana is one of the best Pokemon in the metagame feels pretty significant to me. Wishiwashi is also one of the few Pokemon that can outrun the base 230s with just a Scarf. Araquanid deserves its spot in A-, but I think Wishiwashi belongs...

    Metagame Nature Swap

We did it. Quick PSA, currently the teambuilder is a little funky, and to invest in swapped stat you need to invest in the original stat that is being swapped. Landorus-Therian @ Choice Scarf Ability: Intimidate EVs: 252 Atk / 252 SpA / 4 SpD Jolly Nature - Earthquake - Stone Edge...

    Metagame Workshop

Just wanted to point out that Flame Orb is strictly better than Toxic Orb on Guts sets since the burn nerf to 6.25% damage. EDIT: I totally missed Toxic Boost.
