Data Usage-Based Tier Update for October 2020

Dang. Tyranitar not only held strong in OU but actually rose almost 20 usage ranks. The shift from wallbreaking to more support oriented movesets that check key offensive threats definitely payed off big for it. Skarmory also managed hold strong even with its fellow metal bird being top 10 in...

Data Usage-Based Tier Update for September 2020

The simultaneous Torkoal and Venusaur drops sure caught me off guard. From watching recent competitive videos over the past couple weeks, Sun Teams still looked competent and versatile in the OU tier. Not only that but the most recent VR rankings still have both Torkoal and Venusaur ranked 1...

    Pokémon Corsola - Galar

I think Scald could be worth a slash on slot 4 for that set. If you get Taunted by various mons like Gyarados, it still gives you an option to burn them which can be clutch. Also gives you a form of damage output against Normal types.

    Battle Spot Cinderace

We discussed it on Discord earlier but according to a Japanese article referencing 1000 Master Ball tier games, a lot of Cinderace are actually opting for a Sub - Liechi Berry set to exploit Blaze. With its speed tier and potential to set Sun while Dynamax'd I can see such a set's merits.

    Battle Spot Cinderace

Can Grimmsnarl work as a teammate? It can put up screens to give Cinderace a bit more freedom to Max Airstream and Max Knuckle and with both Fairy and Dark typing, it can help discourage Dragon types from trying to switch into Cinderace's Fire moves while discouraging Ghost types from trying to...

Mechanics Sword & Shield Battle Mechanics Research

Cramorant losing its Pikachu and Arrokuda catch upon switch out is bummer. Just imagine what a great sack it could be later in the match. Send out the weakened Cramorant and as it goes down, it either takes -1 Def off the foe paralyzes them while taking 1/4 health off all the while and priming...

SPOILERS! Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu & Eevee Datamine Info

Yeah i’ve heard about it and I’ve already seen preliminary usage states. Eevee on 50% of teams. Lol Can’t wait to see how what potential Smogon ladder looks like.

SPOILERS! Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu & Eevee Datamine Info

I am going with Let’s Go Pikachu personally. If I play competitive for this game it certainly won’t be on the cartridge (No Battle Spot + Friend List needed + Candy Mechanics + Barely Enough Free Time = Not a Chance) and Pikachu is the superior in game choice anyways. 120 Speed Tier in Kanto is...

    Battle Spot Greninja Revamp

I see. 20-28 Attack EVs would be more than sufficient to 2HKO most Bold Fini then and I take it Taunt would best fit on Sash Lead if 3 attacks was sufficient?

    Battle Spot Greninja Revamp

Is there going to be an Other Options section for this? I believe Rock Tomb, Rock Slide, and Low Kick all deserve mentions for dealing with certain situations. Rock Tomb and Rock Slide are great for handling the omnipresent Charizard and ever threatening Volcarona with Rock Tomb's speed drop...

Pokémon Let's Go! - Pikachu and Eevee

Oh they definitely wanted Alolan Dug to be usable. But taking Arena Trap off it was a major misstep. If they had just left Arena Trap but went ahead with making Alolan Dugtrio slower but stronger the 2 Dugs would both be usable without outclassing each other.

Pokémon Let's Go! - Pikachu and Eevee

Yeah this is why ever since the middle of last gen I have been trying to expand my investment in game facilities and official formats because many Pokémon that suffer in Smogon Tiers excel in official formats and in game. Still just sad though when they crank out that mon with no chance of...

Pokémon Let's Go! - Pikachu and Eevee

Yeah I can feel that. While you have blatant cases like Beedrill, others are likely victims of misdesign. Although it makes you wonder why they don’t buff Pokémon to function like they wanted them to more often/quickly. It took 5 Gens for Mantine to finally function like the defensive mon it...

Pokémon Let's Go! - Pikachu and Eevee

You misunderstand. I know it’s impossible to make to a game where 800+ are good at the same time. I am specifically referring to Pokémon that were just made straight up bad from the get go and serve no purpose. Yanma. Noespass. Murkrow. Aipom, Mawile etc. These NEVER had a chance of being good...

Pokémon Let's Go! - Pikachu and Eevee

I mean to be honest, there wouldn't be such a massive need to for old Pokemon to get new evolutions with better BSTs and movesets if Game Freak didn't make so many garbage Pokemon in the first place. And it's not like methods like Exclusive Z moves, Mega Evolutions, and regional variants don't...

Resource VGC 2019 Viability Rankings [Moon Series Update]

That makes sense. I was just shocked to see Lurantis of all things in Top 30 on Global Link despite never really making any headway in any metagame until now. Regardless of rank the surprise Superpower tutor seems to have helped a lot. How often does Global Link usage update anyway?

Resource VGC 2019 Viability Rankings [Moon Series Update]

I am confused. Lurantis is currently in Top 30 on the Global Link's Top 30 for VGC yet we got in D rank right now. How could someone explain the discrepancies here?

Pokémon Let's Go! - Pikachu and Eevee

209 Special Attack on a Pikachu at Lvl 51. Freaking Modest 31 IV Chandelure with max investment at level 50 only has 7 more points than that. Finally...after all these of playing these games and always having to evolve my in game Pikachu to keep them viable since I couldn't find a Light Ball...

    Battle Tree Discussion and Records

This is probably the only way to make it work in singles. I'd run Jolly/Adamant with Max Speed and Attack with Leftovers and Protect, Substitute, Dragon Dance, and Crunch for moves. Without tools like Moody to boost stats every turn, Power Trip to hit STUPID hard, Frost Breath to bypass damage...

    Battle Tree Discussion and Records

Tyrantrum in Singles, huh? If you plan to use Head Smash I suggest otherwise. Terrible PP and it's gonna miss at a bad time sooner or later. Hmm, you're gonna have Chansey so most special attacks shouldn't of an issue. Here are threats I forsee: 1. Most Fighting types. Whatever your 3rd is...
