Well, the situations where Freeze is debilitating certainly depends on the context. In a match-up like, say, a 1v1 between specially Defensive Dragonite and Corviknight, a Freeze could actually be considered beneficial since it makes it easier for Corviknight to PP stall out Dragonite. That...

Yeah, I do think the EV spread could be optimized a bit more. That being said, against Landorus-T and Garchomp specifically, it is possible to significantly lower their damage output with Grassy Terrain support. It also pairs well with Leftovers, giving Blaziken more longevity.

Not sure if I'm in the minority, but I feel that Heavy Duty Boots has become a weaker item in the current metagame (specifically on non-Rocks weak Pokemon). On Pokemon like Zeraora, Scizor, etc, it normally feels like you'd want the effects of a more useful item like Leftovers or a power...

Little things you like about Pokémon

Assuming you are referring to me, my b. I got the two threads confused since both of them were discussing hindering abilities lol. I'm not sure. If I remember correctly, in the Japanese version of Diamond and Pearl, Regigigas would still have its Attack and Speed halved for 5 turns, even if...

Uh, this isn't exactly a replay. Just an empty room that timed out.

Little things you like about Pokémon

Out of all the intentionally bad abilities, Slow Start is the one that angers me the most. 6v6 matches requires a ton of switching to keep up momentum, pivot into the correct moves, etc. Requiring Regigigas to stay in on other mons for 5 freaking turns is a massive asking price that is almost...

Honestly, I wouldn't call those defensive checks too reliable, espically since they don't have reliable recovery. SpDef Lando and Heatran get blown back by Hydro Pump, while Tapu Fini gets worn down by Thunderbolt, putting all of them in Shadow Ball range. 252 SpA Choice Specs Dragapult Hydro...

What are Pokémon that failed as single-staged and why?

Can't really speak about its performance in-game, but from my experience using it in Random battles, Eiscue is actually insane with Dynamax. You basically set-up the Belly Drum for free thanks to Ice Face, and you can immediately recover Ice Face with a fast Max Hailstorm. If they break Ice Face...

Project SS OU Teambuilding Competition: Blissey

:Dracozolt::Tyranitar::Garchomp::Skarmory::Slowking-Galar::Rillaboom: Dracozolt is pretty strong, but struggles against Ground-types and doesn't like it when Sand isn't active since it becomes pretty damn slow. Physically Defensive Slowking-G (credit to Ctann for this set) is a pretty pog...

I'd also like to add that Galarian Slowking's Poison typing is really nice. The immunity to Poison damage is huge, giving it a much better match-up against defensive mons like Chansey / Blissey. It also lets G-Slowking do some cool stuff like Trick + Black Sludge, which is really handy to wear...

    Pokemon Legends - Arceus - 28th Jan 2022

Well, the thing about Dracovish is that it is remarkably unremarkable outside of Fishious Rend. I remember back when Sw/Sh just came out, people called it garbage since its stats (specifically Speed and Attack) were rather poor. If Dracovish didn't have Fishious Rend, its almost certain it would...

:Volcarona: -> A-Rank I disagree with this mon dropping. Its still one of the strongest win conditions in the tier. Most of its best checks and counters (Tapu Fini, Heatran) are heavily worn down through entry hazards or needing to check other threats like Dragapult. Admittingly its early game...

Take what I say with a grain of salt since I don't use Melmetal. Most Melm teams I see on the ladder bring it in via U-Turn or double switches. I've also seen it be ran on terrain teams since they can mitigate some of its weaknesses (Misty Terrain makes it immune to status, Electric Terrain...

:SS/Dragapult::SS/Volcarona: Very simple, yet effective core. Most teams I've run across on the ladder typically run the same Pokemon to check both Volcarona and Dragapult (think Heatran, Tapu Fini, Tyrnaitar, Toxapex, etc.). Dragapult is really nice since it baits in and softens up these...

Metagame SS OU Metagame Discussion Thread v7 (Usage Stats in post #3539)

I think it largely depends on the structure / playstyle (i.e. Rain will largely prefer stuff like Water-types), but personally, I think the 5 most important types are: Steel Ground Electric Flying Fairy Steel is just a pretty solid type in general. Gives you a decent buffer against a lot of...

What's the difference between this set and Leftovers NP Hydreigon with some bulk investment? You still check the same stuff like Slowbro, Slowking, Blacephalon, etc. but still have the offensive presence and speed tier to threaten stuff like Tapu Lele and Landorus-T.

Yeah, Toxapex alone isn't too big of a threat to the team, though the common stall cores its ran on with with stuff like Corviknight, Blissey, Heatran, etc. can be annoying. Then again, these teams are pretty annoying to face in general & I believe I can optimize the matchup by reading the...
