  1. Data Pokemon Sun/Moon Battle Mechanics Research

Completely arbitrary question on my part, but can someone spend some time testing if Hail appears to raise the chance for Ice types to freeze opponents when using freeze-possible moves? I'll be gathering data to first see if the chance increases between hail/no-hail with Ice types. If there...
  2. VGC 17 Discussion Thread

Thanks for the chain of logic! Completely forgot Drampa had access to Cloud Nine. If I may throw a question and some conjecture in: Gigalith @ Weather negation, is it negation by manual Sandstorm? Or negation by coverage as a niche in other weather teams? I haven't seen more than one on Battle...

Under pure speculation on my part, perhaps Golduck is the go-to right now for weather-negation. Lanturn I can definitely see being in a Rain team as an alternative to Gastrodon for Water Absorb, or potentially as a partner to Xurkitree for Volt Absorb. Magnezone is the truest mystery to me...
  4. Pokémon Alola Ninetales

I know a lot of the discussion here is global tiers, but for VGC 2017/Alolan Battlespot I've found Overcoat Kommo-o to be very comfortable as a teammate for Ninetales as a threat to Rock/Steel types that would want to delete Ninetales in a heartbeat. Has anyone played more with Safety Goggles...
  5. Resource VGC: Ask a Simple Question, Get a Simple Answer

I believe it's Parting Shot and Memento as well, my sources may be wrong on Memento since I haven't verified that personally. I like this question, certainly not a simple one, but I'll try to give a simple answer that will at the very least be a response: With Bulu, you may be happiest off...
  6. VGC 17 Discussion Thread

I don't see any staged changes when comparing it to your previous team post. Dropping Xurkitree might not be a bad idea, but at the same time if you opt for Thunder over Tbolt you may get more bang for your buck, especially since currently having Pelipper on your team causing rain only benefits...
  7. VGC 17 Discussion Thread

Turtonator doesn't run with my current team I'm testing, but I've been extremely curious because no site or post I've found has specified if Shell Trap works on only contact moves like I expected, or if it really is purely physical moves activate it. If it's any physical move, contact or not, I...
  8. VGC 17 Discussion Thread

The Lightningrod argument is fair, but at that point Marowak would be out of its element. @ Lele why do you care about that? Your only affected move is Fake Out and that's only if you target a ground-bound pokemon. Self-targeted moves and field moves like Tailwind wouldn't be blocked. As far as...
  9. VGC 17 Discussion Thread

@ Todegemaru - I see what you're going for with this, but Gyro Ball is getting weaker with this build. Sure you're using it primarily for the Corkscrew Crush but that's a one-use tool that's really underwhelming. In addition, Lightningrod is a useful tool, but the SpA boost goes nowhere and if...
  10. Data Pokemon Sun/Moon Battle Mechanics Research

Seconding this research request (ctrl+f and thread search turned up nothing for Embargo besides this). I'm assuming they have not changed since Z-Crystals are irremovable, but it'd be nice to see Embargo/Magic Room get a buff. I might try and test this personally if no one gets to it anytime soon.
