DPP Player Rankings cos Im way too unqualified to do any other gens and I wanna see how mad my opinion can make people
S: Synon: Synon's pretty good I think
A: Yami: Closer to S than B but I wanted to separate from Synon. Good player, even better builder (especially now that hes realised that more mons than toxic stall zapdos/yache dnite/band bronzong exist)
B: James155: Won classic so thats cool. I find it hard to rate him, without knowing how good his teambuilding is. Bit of a wildcard slot for mine.
Joelituh: Played well in wc, experienced player in tours/dpp if not dpp 1v1 in particular, personally rate them as a player and would be surprised if they went majorly negative.
togli: Played a lot of dpp, like check James post, its kinda crazy. Solid player all up, don't really expect willd results either way.
Tony: Good builder historically, will be interesting to see how much he builds for this PL and how well it deals with some of the random ass new shit. Could be nuts, could also get 3-0d by Ambipom every game.
C: GL Volkner: Jury's still out on how much he'll try compared to some of the other entrants. If he does invest the time could be solid but even then I wouldn't expect anything crazy
Inkreativ: Bit of a toss up on where to put him but when it comes down to it, hes probably not the building equal of those above him and hasn't proven himself hugely in past tours. That being said, this could definitely be the tour to change that as he has shown potential. I would love to see the team that picks him up try and grab either the likes of Spitfire Arcanine or his brother just to give that little bit of extra support that could really allow him to shine.
Neomon: Honestly similar to GL Volkner, I would be shocked if neomon built a large number of new teams for this PL or prepped extensively for his opponents. He could prove me wrong and being a manager will likely result in him being more motivated but only time will tell.
Honorable Mentions:
Spitfire Arcanine: IMO A if he hadn't signed up as a sub, solid builder and solid player. Definitely worth grabbing as support if your starting dpp isn't a huge builder. Also worth grabbing just cos hes a lad.
alive: I don't expect alive to be as active as much as the other signups and probably wouldn't provide as much team support from the bench as Spitfire would, but as a sub that can cover a few slots decently could be worth grabbing as a value pick there.
Myself: I honestly have no idea how to rank myself and I don't particularly want to. I'd probably end up being super-biased and putting myself in a.
Disclaimer: If I haven't ranked you, its mostly likely because I haven't seen you play dpp in a smogon tournament, I think its pretty unlikely that you'll actually play dpp, or because I didn't see your PL signup post. If you feel like you should be ranked but aren't, feel free to complain to someone.
Note to managers: Despite these rankings, and whilst some players are decidedly better than others, there is a large pool of players who play dpp well and who could all realistically do pretty well in this tour and so in my personal opinion, unless they provide more value to your team than just a dpp slot (which realistically probably means the first two names on this list) you probably shouldn't be spending a large amount on them.
TL;DR: Anything beyond like 7k for a dpp player not named Synonimous or Yami is a fat overpay.
