firmed as QPR boss and Kompany's red card appeal turned down - out for 4 games.

Ah yes I remember Vermaelen's late equaliser against Fulham, a classic if I ever saw one! That DVD is hogging all the best moments, better leave some for edition no2!

Sorry, I've got no love for either team but I'm in the 'that was definitely a red card for Kompany' camp. The only reason it looked harsh is because Nani dodged it - had he took the brunt of it he'd have done a somersault or two, maybe roll around a bit etc and we'd all be calling it the worst tackle ever. But Nani shouldn't have to do that - the challenge was reckless, dangerous and meets the very clear criteria for a straight red. It's akin to throwing a punch at another player, only for him to dodge it - you still tried to take his head off and you would have done but for his reactions so why should you get away scot-free?

Also fuck yeah Henry.

so apparently eric cantona wants to go for french president?

also does anyone else think sparky sounds like he could not give a fuck about QPR already

So according to Talksport Liverpool have joined Arsenal and PSG in the race to sign Kalou.I doubt he'd want to stay since his favorite position on the left wing is occupied by Mata and he can't do better than Torres as a CF so he knows he's not gonna get to play except maybe in the FA cup.I,ofcourse, hope he goes to PSG for obvoius reasons as is likely to happen.

AVB seems to be preparing a bid for Di Maria in addition to Hulk and Cavani.I doubt Mourinho'll sell him it's not like he's not needed and he has a regular spot in the first XI.Won't be dissapointed if we fail to sign him as is likely to happen;Sturridge is all we need in that position. We desperately need a CF though and I really hope we can sign either Hulk or Cavani the former being the one that is more likely to happen.

EDIT:Yay 500th post etc. etc.

What happened to Lukaku? Torres was the big CF signing to replace Drogba, and when he wasn't performing wasn't Lukaku signed to be the next big thing? I haven't even seen the kid yet!

lol

you can only play badly for so long before you go from being 'off-form' to being 'not a good player anymore' and Torres passed that mark about 2 months ago. I'd much rather have Kalou, at least he's an actual goal threat.

united and spurs are interested in Ba, it came from a represenative of the player apparantly
why united want to buy Ba.... we should get rhodes instead or cavani :P

please dear god noone take our ba. if he goes, we're fucked. lovenkrands, best, shola and sammy ameobi are not going to keep us in the league :L ben arfa is at least showing good stuff again.

are chelsea still in the running for tiote does anyone know?

You didn't read the whole thing.I said "as a CF".He's only good as a winger and Mata plays on the left now and he's not even old so he'll be playing 90 mins. regularly.

And NLI,Lukaku started against Norwich and played vs Arsenal in the 5-3 loss.Dind't score or even come close to(in the Arsenal game) and thus hasn't played any other games so far apart from those with the reserves.I heard he scored a lot with the reserves though. However he has failed justify the hype that surrounded him before he got transferred from Anderlecht and hence AVB is still hesitant to use him Over Torres. Not to mention he's just 18;Romeu only got to play despite being young coz Mikel was underperforming(the Liverpool loss at home)and we have no other Defensive midfielders with Essien injured(who has now begun to train with the reserves to my great delight).Bottom line:He's still an inferior choice for CF coz Torres is older and is coming closer to scoring than Lukaku did in the two PL games he played;not much to judge him by but Torres looks like he's going to score in every game nowadays so AVB feels he should give him a chance and let Lukaku gain some more experience with the reserves.

QPR have put in a bid for Alex at Chelsea... Samba + Alex is a pretty damn strong pairing. Hughes has got ~£30m to spend this transfer window, I'd imagine him to go see if he can cherry pick a couple of players from Man City, like Bridge or Onuoha.

City v Liverpool Carling/League Cup 1st leg is live on the BBC from 1930 GMT.

Will probably be here http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/9675834.stm

No Yaya Toure or David Silva for City tonight. Ballotelli + Aguero strikers. Stefan Savic replaces Kompany.

Gerrard, Bellamy and Carroll start for Liverpool.

Man City: Hart, Richards, Lescott, Savic, Clichy, Milner, Barry, De Jong, Johnson, Aguero, Balotelli.

Liverpool: Reina, Kelly, Skrtel, Agger, Johnson, Downing, Spearing, Henderson, Bellamy, Gerrard, Carroll.
Subs: Doni, Jose Enrique, Coates, Carragher, Adam, Shelvey, Kuyt.

Penalty to Liverpool

Foul on Agger by Savic, Gerrard scores

Lol, Balotelli subbed for Nasri in 39th minute.
