Mission accomplished, but Rooney's out of the first game and possibly two more of the games in the Euro's next year.....

more pleased with this result than i would've been with an england win, montenegro have had a fantastic campaign and really deserve the play-off spot imo

lol that was dumb anyway Manchester will win the league again.
Sir Alex says he is retirung in 10 when it was 2001, yeah right he mights aswell stay there until he gets to 100 yrs of age. Man some people just love money.
The scottish way of singing price tag by jessie jay to Sir Alex

It's not about the money money money
Alex: Um Aye it is

We dont want your money money money
Alex: Aye we do

It's not about the pricetag
Alex: Aye right

Aint about the cha-ching cha-ching
Alex: Aye it is lace

Aye means yes and yeah in scottish

With or without Rooney, England are not winning Euro 2012. Though it does give the media yet another great excuse when yet again England fail to make any impact in an international tournament.

Sorry, but have you seen them play recently? You would be an idiot to write them off.

Germany/spain/holland should be up there, not really sure who else though, its gonna be pretty interesting to see how teams like france/italy fare after their terrible world cup campaigns.

for now, germany, spain and holland. but in a few years, Belgium are going to be up there. Currently producing quality players.

Future Belgium XI (supposedly the golden generation):

Mignolet
Boyata Kompany Vermaleen Vertonghen
Fellaini
Hazard Defour Witsel Bruyne
Lukaku

Also, Thibaut Courtois and Moussa Dembele that I left out :P

Thibaut and Lukaku are our future replacements for Cech and Drogba :D Nos.,you're right about Germany's team spirit,in fact that's what differentiates them from Spain this year.Netherlands are the most likely to win IMO coz they're on fire and cooperate well as a team. That being said i'm still rooting for Spain coz I want Blues to bring the medals home. Not to mention it'll boost Torres' confidence.

Spain are serious contenders and has one many cups.

assuming you mean won, you're wrong. Spain has won only three major tournaments in their history (2 Euros and 1 World Cup).

Compare that to Germany (6), Italy (5), Brazil (13), Argentinia (16)...

not that history counts for much here but don't just make shit up ^_~

I'd take Germany if i had to bet on anyone. Spain's defence isn't that great and Puyol is only getting older.

Portugal should do well, for all the great players they have France and England don't have the right attitude and Italy's best days are behind them. Turkey could be a dark horse some decent players and a very good manager in Hiddink.

France will probably end up doing ok since they seem to zigzag between doing terribly and doing brilliantly with their tournaments (won 1998 and 2000, out early in 2002 and 2004, into the final in the world cup 2006, bottom of their group in Euro 2008 and SA 2010)

Italy have had a good qualifying campaign but they have one of the easiest groups so that doesn't really say much about them.

I'd put that down as much to having Zidane around to carry them. Won the World Cup and Euros when Zidane was fit, only managed to play one game whilst injured at the World Cup 2002 which saw them out in the groups, they did pretty well at Euro 2004 still got to the quarter finals and were only beaten by the champions. He was pretty much written off in 2006 then went and carried France to the world cup finals, they have done nothing since despite on paper having a squad that rivals England.

was that a serious post? because it was one of the most retarded i've read lately. fergie is an unmitigated cunt but to suggest he's sticking around for the financial benefit is absolutely fucking ludicrous. his job iss his life and his life is his job, pretty much. look what happened to fergie's dad - a year after he retired he was dead. ferguson has spoken about that before and what it means to him, so..

thank FUCK international week is over, anyway!

no he is staying for the club, he said when he started he wanted to knock liverpool off thier perch, that means winning the champions league 3 more times

We won't do that in Fergie's time, but his plan is to leave a young squad that will still challenge on all fronts, for whoever his successor is. To say Fergie is in it for the money is a ridiculous statement though. He'll be here for another 3-4 years dependant on his health. But he still looks in fine condition for a man of such an age, so I'm hopeful he'll be here a while yet.

Also, agree with akuchi! International breaks do my head in sometimes, and while I'm glad to see this one over, I wasn't as disappointed as I usually am. Some of the United players needed a rest and players like Vidic, Cleverley, and Smalling will have had time to recover from injury. I hope they're all ready for Liverpool, though I only see Vidic actually starting.

I heard that Evra got crocked though, and Young even had to come off. I hope they're both fit since our left side has been brilliant when those two have played together. If they both miss Liverpool, I'll be quite worried. It'll likely mean Evans at left back - but at least we'd have a few options on the left side of the attack. Also, Fletcher is ill again so it's possible he won't make it (I was hoping he'd start at Anfield, but he always seems to get injured / ill just before we face them there)... A lot of United fans seem to be gunning for Welbeck to start at Anfield on Saturday, but the last three times we started 442 there we got beat (3-1, 2-0, 2-1). Might be different this time, but I'd rather see a 433:

de Gea
Jones Ferdinand Vidic Evra
Fletcher Carrick Anderson
Nani Rooney Young

I think I'd go with that if everyone is fit. But we could end up seeing Smalling, Evans, Giggs, Park, Valencia, Welbeck, or Hernández having to start instead if our injury problems are at their worst still (not a bad set of back-up players, though)!

Go Liverpool! Hopefully,we'll win instead of getting a draw for the hundredth time.
