2011 Music

The only thing I really know about in 2011 is the new Strokes album, but after seeing what Interpol came out with I'm a little apprehensive.

Digitalism is supposed to have something (I think?) so possibly that too.

Zoro recommended The Rural Alberta Advantage to me on another thread and I can't thank him enough, Departing is now one of my most anticipated releases of 2011.

I mentioned this in the last thread, but I'm highly anticipating Lupe Fiasco's Lasers
(if it ever comes out, that is).

OOMPH!
Within Temptation
Sirenia
Foo Fighters
Queens of the Stone Age
Delain (apparently)
Paramore (maybe, shit's gone down)
Radiohead
Nightwish

I may be forgetting a couple, but 2011 is looking fucking amazing so far.

EDIT: Also it seems that Kyuss are releasing a new album without Josh Homme under Kyuss Lives!, which should be interesting.

I didn't even know Cynic was working on another album, it seems weird that there's like a 10 year gap between Focus and Traced in Air and yet there'll only be like a 3 year gap between it and the next if it comes out 2011.

Anyone else excited for a new Say Anything album? Blink 182 as well, should be a good year for pop-punk/"emo"/whatever

BIG loven

Not so little anymore
Yeah I'm really stoked for a new blink album. atm its the one of the only albums in 2011 I'm looking forward too.

Only things I'm looking forward to are Clockwork Angels and the new RHCP album, along with the possibility of a new Metallica album.

was wondering when this would be posted, heh.
Only 2011 releases i'm interested in so far are new dredg ("early 2011") and new Cake in January.
New Decemberists is looking cool as well, will download when a more legit copy is leaked/released.
Outside of confirmed releases, maybe this'll be the year for new Radiohead!!! I've heard rumors of new Why? material (which would make sense because they seem to release a new album every two years) and I believe Incubus is doing something too.
Anticipating a new Mars Volta album as well, it's been 18 months, so they'll probably be releasing something any minute now. More stuff from Omar will be released without a doubt, maybe he'll break his personal record for "most albums released in a year" again.

im looking forward to things ive never heard of from artists i know nothing about. making lists of all the bands who could potentially release an album that will more than likely not be half as good as their best next year just seems redundant after 2010, where people like m.i.a, national, of montreal, interpol, broken social scene, new pornos etc all put out albums i was completely meh on.

so instead ill list things i know will be good and will be severely dissapointed if they arent:

kanye/jay-z's watch the throne. after kanyes year it goes without saying this should be great, and his christmas track has me convinced that his creativity still hasnt gone anywhere.

james blake's debut album. again, this man had an amazing 2010, making some of the best electronic music around, and i have big hopes for his self titled debut. i do hope he doesnt completely stray from his more electronic material though.

tyler the creator's goblin mixtape. after everything hes said about it on twitter im hella excited to hear new stuff from him.

potential radiohead album, yeah i know. they are really one of the few bands where a new album really feels like an event that you know is gonna be amazing. the fact that their speculated release date keeps being pushed back is also great news, because you know they care about it. not holding my breath though, we were speculating about new radiohead album at this point of last years thread :x

Steven Wilson is going to release his second solo album, and also a collaboration album with Mikael Akerfeldt from Opeth, and even the 3rd Blackfield album, so those are what I'm looking forward to the most.

And also Radiohead.

Pain Of Salvation is releasing Road Salt Two, but since it will be in the same veins as the disappointing Road Salt One, I'm not getting my hopes up for that.

edit: new Opeth too (although Watershed was disappointing - after multiple listens, despite sounding great on first listen)

I didn't even know Cynic was working on another album, it seems weird that there's like a 10 year gap between Focus and Traced in Air and yet there'll only be like a 3 year gap between it and the next if it comes out 2011.
From their official site:

Dear Cynic Fans,

We're announcing a change in the band's lineup this winter. After much soul-searching and discussion, Cynic will say goodbye to bassist Robin Zielhorst and guitarist Tymon Kruidenier. This decision was reached mutually, with great respect for each other as people and the work that we've done over the past 2-3 years. The logistical challenges of maintaining a band that is half based in The Netherlands and the other half in the United States (drummer Sean Reinert and guitarist Paul Masvidal live in California), has become unworkable. The pre-production stages for Cynic's next release have just begun and it seemed like an appropriate time to define the next chapter of the band. The new Cynic release is coming in summer 2011 on the Season of Mist label.
So yeah. Apparently they're thinking about rereleasing Focus. again.

Anyway:

Alestorm
Amon Amarth
Autopsy
Cynic
Insomnium

That's all that I know of right now.

new Opeth in the fall.

hopefully the last (first) installment in Virgin Black's Requiem trilogy.

new Meshuggah and maybe even a new Special Defects.

Tesseract is purportedly releasing their full-length. finally.

Vashti Bunyan has been working on an album for like, 5 years, so hopefully 2011 will see it's face.

and...you know...other stuff...

Didn't know they were coming out with a new one, though I guess it's been about time. Will have to add that to my list.
"8 new songs for next Opeth-album, Metronom Studio in the end of January

I just read an interview with Mikael Åkerfeldt in Scream Magazine #151 (Norway's biggest metal/hard rock-magazine). It featured very interesting news regarding the next album! According to Mikael Opeth have written 8 songs so far. They won't enter the studio before they have 15-20 songs ready. Opeth will enter the studio in the end of January. The studio they will use is Abba's old studio Metronom in Stockholm. Mikael wants to have a 70s-sound on the album, more precisely like the album had been released in 1978. Mikael mentioned that there are some very dark tones on the new material. One song is a tribute to Ronnie James Dio. This song might be on the album, but maybe not on the regular edition. "
i think there's been another update since then, but i'm not going to dig for it.

Cult of luna
Iron & Wine
Meshuggah hopefully, besically everything deschain said.
Megadeth, hopefully it wont suck like the last 3. A man can hope right?
And Bright Fucking Eyes...
