2012/2013 Soccer/Football thread

Everton are looking amazing right now, they don't have much depth but their first XI ticks like clockwork and the last few games I've seen they have blown away the opposition. I'm really enjoying watching them.

City vs Arsenal was an amazing game last season, looking forward to that tomorrow!

That challenge by Shelvey was NOT a sending off coz it wasn't two footed and he got the ball.Really ruined the game for me.Hopefully,Liverpool can still salvage something from this game, they've been controlling it so far.

was a red, was over agressive with studs showing, was boarderline, was not as bad as Luiz.

evans went for the ball in a similar fashion though (two-footed, in fact, shelvey only went in with one foot). imo if you're going to give shelvey a red for that, evans should get a red as well. that being said, it was a harsh red, yellow at most for me.

the penalty decision was definitely incorrect, though.

Penalty wasn't a dive or penalty.
Rules state that the Shelvey tackle is a red.. I thought it was a yellow myself >.>
was dangerous though and by the laws of the game, its a red.

now we need some teams down there to get some points to keep them in the bottom 3 :P

i was a bit skeptical at first but then i saw this:

notice the referee on the right. he was perfectly positioned...

Wow what a completely undeserved goal..I guess our shit defending hasn't stopped yet..

i guess it's the theme this weekend

referee robs another win for man utd, whats new

chelsea's midfield is amazing, but they need a good striker badly, but i'd go with less hyped options such as Leandro Damião or maybe famous names that dont get enough playing time at their clubs, such as Balotelli.

milan is fucking up again and lost an arguably winnable match against udinese, but its because milan seriously lack a trequartista (shouldve gone for cazorla in the transfer window, but galliani never spends anything)

aaaand man city and arsenal is being a bore so far, and even though arsenal is playing better IMO, theyre losing

That is undoubtedly the theme of the day imo And as much as you'd like to deny it phalanx,Shelvey went in one footed, got the ball first and that was soooooooo not a penalty.Apparently,Valencia can waltz his way into Hollywood when he decides to hang up his boots.

kevin prince boateng is a really good trequatista. I think it's the front 2 that needs some work. robinho + pato looks really good on paper but both of them are very injury prone and I'm not sure if El Shaarawy and Pazini are good enough if needed. they also need a CB and a new LB. Doesn't look too good but I think people are overreacting.

Really happy with the performance of Arsenal in that game. Only bad points were Gervinho who is legit useless and Mannone's error but he did produce a couple of good saves.

The concerning thing is that Man City were really off the boil, their touches were poor throughout and kept giving the ball away. If we can only get a point against them like this then it doesn't look nearly as good.

Players that stood out were Mertesacker - he has been unbelievable at making interceptions and this was probably his best game, he lacks pace but his positioning has become near enough perfect; Jenkinson - I never thought he'd improve so much so fast but he has reached a different level recently and looks like a proper first choice right back now; and Cazorla doesn't need much more said about him, he is just so slick and elusive.

Defending is still suspect but I won't complain about a point at City and hope the team can move on and keep improving!

liverpool were robbed. suarez would have had a penalty if he wasn't such a drama queen when getting tackled. like seriously, was the head jerk back necessary for a clip to the heel?

None of my favorite sporting teams/athletes can do anything... Liverpool can play well, but they always find a way to screw it up. I don't get it, if the one big problem last year was putting things in the net, why did we only get one striker? Borini has sucked in every regard, and you know it's pretty sad if the team is looking to Sterling for inspiration.

Yeah, Talking about Hollywood, Hazard, Oscar can join Valencia as well.

so Match of the day 2's Mark Lawrenson and Freddie Ljungberg, said all those descisions were correct
if anything Valencia was off blance, not everything is a dive.

Please,he went down on purpose the moment he felt Johnson's foot brush his.But ofcourse, how else were United to beat them? Fairly? God no.

And @Jirabi Both the penalties Hazard has won so far were legit in that he got tripped and the one against Juve was 50-50.He got shoulder-pushed and got his heels caught from behind as against Valencia who was barely touched by Johnson before he went down. And when the fuck did Oscar dive or do anything of the sort?

My thoughts exactly. Gervinho really fucked up a lot during the match.. was really frustrating.. and I'm glad Wenger spoke out about it and singled Gervinho out specifically in not finishing chances and being sloppy.

Cazorla is just orgasmic. I love him and hope he stays with us for a long time.. and not just to play until Real Madrid or the likes come and swoop him away.
