2012/2013 Soccer/Football thread

i remember it was a choice between juan mata and downing. we needed a left winger and both were available for around 20 million.

i originally wanted mata but i was brainwashed by other liverpool fans into thinking that we needed a "traditional" winger so carroll could score with his head.

if only we stuck with a more modern playing philosophy last season. bellammy, maxi, suarez, *mata* and sterling. all pass and move players, would've been brilliant.
 
right for one 20 million on downing was always pretty lol, and for two im sorry nos but 'brainwashed by other fans' is a pretty weak excuse, either admit you were wrong about the thing or stand by yourself!
 
Happy New Year everyone! And happy January transfer window opening!!!

Things I'd like to see for Arsenal:

- Theo signing new contract.
- Giroud finding form or signing a new good striker.
- Santos stop being fat and useless or signing a good left back.
- Maybe sign Zaha, but then we'd have too many wingers!

Honestly I don't think there needs to be too many drastic changes. The squad is more or less strong enough for achieving top 4 I reckon. Unless you're talking about challenging for the PL and signing Falcao, Ronaldo, Bale, Fabregas or whatever.

As for other clubs, good luck to them! Except Man Utd, no one likes Man Utd. God I hate Man Utd so much...

about Zaha.. i've heard Wenger wants him, and Adrian or Turan.. just speculation imo (about adrian/turan, not about zaha)

we need a cb.. Mertersacker is too slow and Konscielny SUCKS HARD.

anyway yay for transfer window.
I hope we sign 2 above the average strikers and get out Piazon on loan and since Sturridge is leaving. Signing Higuain or Dzeko and Lukaku call up would be perfect in my opinion.
 
Really not sure why Chelsea are signing Ba. Why not bank the 7m and recall Lukaku from West Brom?? He has been a beast leading the line for West Brom. And what happened to the whole Falcao thing?
 
I'm going to watch Chelsea vs QPR today, a thrashing is on the cards :)

Also, I'm dissapointed with Chelsea signing Demba Ba, he doesn't really fit in to our playing style very well at all.

what does that even mean lol, he's a gifted and versatile striker with a provem track record in this country - there is no system he doesn't fit. i think what you're trying to say is you're upset that you haven't threw £30-50 million at some overpriced big name with a 90 ranking on FIFA.

don't know if it's going through or not but cheers Demba - no hard feelings, it really was our own fault for not offering you a better contract when we had the chance, god knows you deserved it.

watching the match with my scouser friend (red side) and we're flicking between newcastle/everton and sunderland/liverpool and needless to say we're both happy so far

anyway yeah, both happy! we're winning and our respective rivals are losing, happy days.
 
marin played poorly despite being lucky to even stay on the field. benitez can officially RIP.... what a poor lineup selection
 
Horrible,absolutely horrible.Wtf was Benitez thinking when he picked this lineup.Sure,it's just QPR but we couldn't afford to drop any points if we were to stand even the tiniest chance of catching up to City leave alone United plus the fact that we've found goals hard to come by lately;he should've started Hazard and Mata but noooooo he decides to suddenly give Marin a start like this is some league cup game against a championship side......

Regardless,I must say I'm excited about Ba's imminent arrival.He's the perfect signing both from a financial and a tactical point of view.Torres has had enough time and more and while his goal return is an improvement from that of last season it's just not enough for all that Chelsea aim to achieve.Maybe he's just not capable of performing at the highest level anymore.
