To me its a clear yellow but a red was a terrible call, and one that completely changed the game...

let me guess, youre a man u fan? because on Earth and on Jupiter a red for that isnt a "terrible call" at all.

Im not a man u fan at all lol, but he was making a play on the ball. It was a dangerous play, and so should have been a yellow, but since when is a high foot to play the ball a red card...?

Ever since "A violent foul" is a red cardable offense by the rulebook. Let me guess, like Nos said, De Jong didnt deserve a red for his kick on Alonso? Because these are pretty damn similar scenarios.

it wasn't only a high foot. he kicked him in the side and he had a lot of momentum. you can see how he plants his studs right onto Arbeloa (<3) and follows through. violent conduct is a valid reason to be sent off btw.

nani also starts rolling around pretending to be injured when he was absolutely fine. he knew it was a terrible tackle

both running into open space with their eyes on the ball. straight red? youre as biased as a hater as those english commentators. arbeloa is slow as shit so a collision is inevitable with nani making up the ground. if arbeloa was already standing where the ball is about to land, then in the champions league you can expect something daft like an immediate red. but for that? naaaa

if this tie was at madrid and di maria did that to evra with the same ref, would thatve been a red? lol would it fuck.

guy got some balls though, ruining the tie with a decision which was a yellow due to the outcome of the clash, but a straight red considering the positions and where their eyes are supposed to be focused (on the ball)?nope. think otherwise and youre one jealous mofo

Damn and I thought your idiocy was only limited to Pokemon. Please link me where it says "eyes on the ball" is an excuse for kicking someone with the studs on the chest, because I cant find it.

I don't personally think it was a straight red but I can easily see why the referee gave it. By the letter of the law yes it probably was a red but at least both players were going for the ball, its not like nani intentionally took him out

That was clearly a red.You can't jump into a collision with your leg raised high, jab the other guy on the chest and get away with it.It's his fault that he didn't notice Arbeloa. It was just careless of him.

tbh I wasn't really worried until Nani got sent off.I mean even if they did knock Madrid out they would eventually be knocked out by Bayern,Milan/Barca,PSG or Dortmund anyway. But yeah a Madrid victory is a victory for all. After all Manchester United defeats never cease to be entertaining.

clearly your reading skills only pick what you want to respond to.

im better than youll ever be at pokemon. deal with it

personally it was a yellow and nothing more, but the decision did show the true nature of a couple of players. rio ferdinand's detestable clapping in the face of the referee post-game being one such example. i cannot wait for the manager interviews after this...

i think this is down to the way british and continental referees differ, as i could never see this being given a red in the english game. however i am sure the ref has given red for incidents that were not as 'bad' as this before and i am sure in some countries no one would balk if that decision was made

regardless you gotta feel for man u fans except phalanx although it serves them right for talking about the treble so early on

edit: oh yea, man u got a number of breaks in that game as well. the own goal and raphaels clearance off the line were both quite lucky and the latter could've easily been a red and a penalty

real were the better team across the tie and these games have highlighted how cleverly / carrick midfield cannot perform at the top

youve still yet to link me where it says eyes on the ball is an excuse

cmon at least do something productive, it seems all you do nowadays is be a moron, you make me laugh

Eye on the ball is saying his intent was to play the ball, not to hit the man.

On another note, when did diego lopez turn into Casillas.

as oppose to you still hanging around crying bout hax in pokemon. not even bothering to use google yourself? and to think youre trying to make it in football. you make me laugh

Thats my point, intent matters for fuck all. The rules say VIOLENT FOUL is grounds for a straight red. Most of the time when players slide with 2 feet theyre going for and looking at the ball, they still get red carded because its damn violence. Kicking someone in the chest and then claiming "I didnt see him so its ok" is just plain moronic.

And Lopez has been great ever since he was playing for Sevilla, much better goalkeeper than overrated Valdez and Reina, glad to see hes finally getting the recognition he deserves.

Ill stop replying to your Pokemon stuff because everyone knows how stupid you are regarding your own ego and youre a laughing stock for most people nowadays. Btw, Ive googled it already, if I asked for a source its because I cant find it, and if youre the one arguing that its an excuse (rofl so retarded) then youre the one who should be posting shit to back it up. Cant say im not surprised at your inability to back up your claims, as you have the brain of a 4 year old kid.

I actually forget i'm on a pokemon forum

Phalanx just needs to know that the refs in the CL aren't affraid of giving correct decisions at old trafford because fergie can't exert his pressure (pokemon pun intended)

yep everyone else is inferior to me especially you just accept it jajaja. take it serious like you always do, and if we are to talk about egos (ones with nothing to show for it@you) yours is as big as anyones. maybe one day ill see you in semi pro football like me?

keep crying

refs in the champions league are shite, and that proves it.
he went for the ball clearly, was a yellow, nothing more.
Retired referee Dermot Gallagher on BBC Radio 5 live: "[The decision was] harsh to say the least but in fairness the Real player did Nani no favours whatsoever. At worst Nani catches the underside of his arm, certainly not the ribs as the guy has gone down and shown.
the correct descisons? i have no problem with the refs giving those, I have problems when the ref makes such a joke of a descision as that.

If a player plays in a dangerous manner in a “normal” challenge, the referee should not take any disciplinary action. If the action is made with obvious risk of injury, the referee should caution the player

and on that rediculous basis of Nanis being a red, what about thier keeper accedently punching Vidic in the head?

I think red was ok, but I was watching this game in a sports bar in Madrid and I even talked to Real fans, who said that it wasnt a straight red.

But whatever Fergie is a moron, so I'm glad he is out. And Bayern is better then both of them so nevermind
