2019-20 NBA Season

This is for everyone: Thoughts on the Demarcus Cousins alleged murder threat?
:bulbasaur:
In response to the DeMarcus Cousins situation, what he said was majorly fucked up and he deserves whatever consequences he gets for the words he chose however can we acknowledge that his baby mama refused to let his son attend his wedding? This could have been avoided if she actually thought about how much it would have meant to have his son at his wedding. Yay for selfish human nature fucking over other humans

Us doing well this year doesn't really matter towards my general sentiment behind the post. Lakers fans asking the Clippers to move does show the insecurity currently present where the Clippers are in their minds a real threat to "their" town. I personally love the fact that Lakers fans can't stop talking about the Clippers and taking jabs at us because it just means we're for real, regardless of how far we do go this year. We're a proper professional organisation with a serious goal, different to what we were in the not so distant past. And yes, we're not going away any time soon, regardless of who wins, we're building on that momentum, getting our new arena in LA soon and putting down our roots in that city for generations to come. The fact that we could potentially win a championship in the next few years would be the crowning achievement to that but it's not something that impacts my general sentiment of the Clippers having "arrived" in LA and that noise bothering the neighbour.
Oh were not bothered by the fact that the clippers were moved here by a shithead owner just to make a buck, just that you're undeservedly living in the house that shaq and kobe built. The fact that the majority of clips fans are located outside of LA should tell you everything you need to know about the teams popularity. Sterling was too cheap to move them but Ballmer has all the money in the world. Instead of trying to establish a culture for a loser team that will never be popular here, he should do the right thing and rebrand/relocate in Seattle. The fans there would be beside themselves with joy and the team could take over some respectable history.
Hell the entire motivation for the clippers to trade shai, gallinari + all the picks was to make sure the lakers didn't get Kawhi instead. That and Jerry West's continued revenge arc against jeanie buss for choosing that idiot phil jackson over him.

tl;dr shit team with no history or fanbase in la is better off rebranding and leaving

A big reason Ice cube is making statements like that is he knows the clippers don't rate any respect. It's that simple. Just because PG and Kawhi showed up doesn't doesnt mean you will be on any path closer to getting out from the lakers shadow. The fact that kawhi matched the 2 year deal timeline with Paul George shows that they are ready to bail if things don't go right. Whatever momentum is being built imo is a waste that would be much better received in a city like seattle than under the lakers shadows. Lakers will never feel threatened by the clippers and everyone knows that. Y'all have not even made it to the conference finals and are already getting your expectations up for a chip? like the celtics fan said so, maybe wait until the season starts or even when PG is healthy to play a game.

Love that a Lakers fan is complaining about people outside a city being fans of that city’s team.

You misconstrued that point. I know other, hell, all other teams have fans outside of their home city. But those other teams also easily have majority of the fans in their own city. Shouldn't the fact that the clippers have been here for FORTY years and have almost nothing to show for it tell you something?
At least with a team like the Nets they chose the Brooklyn borough to differentiate themselves rather than try and be the New York Nets. In all honesty this argument is a waste of my time because the clipper nephews out there will continue to rail against the heavens and shout their minuscule claim to fame until things go to shit as usual.

See thats where you and all the Laker fans that make this point are wrong. No one is trying to usurp LA or "rail against the heavens" (LMFAO), we're just trying to do our own thing, win our own way and enjoy our team. Lakers fans are the ones always making it about "us vs them" when you guys should be focused on your own team and your own dysfunctional organisation. If we're so "minuscule" and there's "no threat", just leave us to root for our team and worry about yours. We've been doing our own thing and really only paying attention to our own strides, but of course that'd be tough for Laker fans to swallow since the past few years haven't really been anything to cheer about so you've gotta move your attention elsewhere.

Houston Rockets guard Eric Gordon has agreed to a four-year, $76M maximum contract extension, league sources tell @TheAthleticNBA @Stadium.

Hahahahaha Morey hahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahaha
To be fair they couldn’t just let him leave. He’s been one of the best 6th men in the league the past few years and a big part of the Rockets success. But if this isn’t an overpay...

Assuming Westbrook and Harden opt in to the final year of their contracts, the Rockets will be paying the two of them $47M each, Capela $18M, and Gordon $20M. That’s $132M total to those four players, equal to this year’s luxury tax threshold. Oh, and PJ Tucker reportedly has asked for an extension too.

Yeah EG and Tucker definitely don’t deserve that much lol. But it’s worth paying the luxury tax to keep your team together. Part of me is thinking the Westbrook trade is gonna blow up in their faces lol

Gordon is nowhere near as good as Lou Williams and gets paid 3x as much LOL. Also Houston has literally zero bench so these deals bite them in the ass because they can't get a decent bench now.

Incredible stupidity by Morey to tweet about Hong Kong. Did he think it was all the same anyway since they were in Japan? Did his analytics not show how much money his team gets from China every year?

Maybe it's not about money but sending a message. Fuck China.
Sending a message that he's ignorant about the issue..?

But to keep this post on topic with NBA, Dwight actually looked... decent? Looks like he understands he's no longer the player he used to be and what his role on the team is. That said, Warriors lacking size helped. Bron and AD clicking early is key, and I think that's the only thing we can really take from preseason, because throwback to the first Dwight stint and those guys never meshed even in preseason.
