Starting in 2021, RU players will once again have a chance to prove that they're the best overall RU player by earning points when competing in a series of tournaments throughout the year. At the end of the year, there will be a seeded playoffs consisting of the top 16 players with the most overall points. The winner of the playoffs will be crowned the overall best RU player of the year and have the ribbon above added to their postbit. The ribbon will last for a year until it is greyed out and permanently affixed to your postbit.
2021 RU Circuit Schedule
RU Winter Seasonal - January Type A
RU Open - March Type A
RU Classic - May Type B (playoffs only)
RU Ladder Tour - July Type B
RU Autumn Seasonal - September Type A
RU Cup - June Type C
Grand Playoffs - December
Tournaments will be broken down into three individual types: Type A tournaments are the largest and will yield full points for winning (500). Type B will yield half (250). Type C will yield 1/3 (166). Tournaments are weighted based on a combination of their significance and difficulty. The better you do in a more important tour, the more likely you are to qualify for the grand playoffs.
With the DLC finally out of the way, the circuit lineup has returned to its familiar schedule. This past year, we realized that classic gave too many points in the 2020 circuit, so we’ve decided to scale the number of points down. Only the playoffs will give points to all participants, whereas individual cups will reward 25 points to the winner only. Playoffs will have the following point distribution: 5-8: 75, 3-4: 125, 2: 187.5, 1: 250. We may consider changing the number of qualifiers, but the point distribution will remain the same. In addition, we’ve decided to keep the RU kickoff but have rebranded it as the RU Cup, which will be a single elimination, best of three tournament.
Tour dates may be subject to change, so be on the lookout in this thread where we will announce any new updates. Look forward to another exciting year of RU tournaments! Further information on the circuit including specific tour dates, other potential changes, and signups will be posted here in the near future.
