3v3 FE Singles! Complications vs. Rainman Legends!

Gooooooooood afternoon, ASB fans! You missed me, right? No? It's a rather chilly day here at the ASB Arena, but that shouldn't get in the way of any battles, due to our stadium's climate control tech. Pretty sweet, huh? Let's get to the battle at hand, shall we? Standard rules here, folks. No weird stuff.

Dragonite (Bahamut) (Male)
Type:
Dragon: -1 BAP on incoming neutral attacks Dragon itself would resist (e.g. -1 BAP on Aqua Jet against Garchomp.) Unable to have Thrash or Outrage disrupted by oncoming damage.
Flying: Immunity to Ground attacks and the Arena Trap Ability except under the effects of Smack Down and Gravity, even for ground-based flying Pokemon. Will always hit foes with Dig (except other Flying types) and Dive. Cannot be hit by Dive unless the attacking Pokemon has a size class greater than four (4). Unaffected by Spikes or Toxic Spikes. when switching in. Able to hit Pokemon in the evasive stage of Bounce, Fly or Sky Drop with single target moves that hit Pokemon on the field regardless of position.

Abilities:
Inner Focus: When an opponent attempts to flinch this Pokemon, it stands firm and continues its attack. If it has another ability that would be activated by flinching, that ability activates.
Multiscale (H): This Pokemon has sturdy scales to protect it from an opponent's attacks. If this Pokemon is at their maximum HP when a round starts, all damage done to this Pokemon by attacks with BAP during the round will be halved.

Sigilyph (Sylph) (F)
Type:
Psychic:
Can lift and throw opponents with Psychic regardless of Special Attack Rank. Psychic-type attacks are not godlike and cannot be used as a catchall for Disabling, Binding, and redirecting opposing attacks.

Abilities:
Wonder Skin
: The Pokemon's skin has an agent that heavily resists attempts to change its composition. It changes the accuracy of all non-damaging attacks to 50% before applying any other modifiers.
Magic Guard: This Pokemon is infused with a powerful psycho-electric energy that makes it immune to damage from Spikes, Stealth Rock, Hail, Sandstorm, Leech Seed, Poisoning, Burn, and Partial Trapping moves. It can still attack itself in confusion, and will still take damage from it. Additionally, the energy protects the Pokemon from its own reckless recoil attacks. Toxic still increases in damage each round, although if Magic Guard is in effect the Pokemon will not suffer any damage. Life Orb recoil is negated.
Tinted Lens (H): When this Pokemon uses an attack that is normally not very effective, that attack is calculated at the next highest resistance modifier. (e.g. 4x resistance is calculated at 2x, 2x resistance becomes neutral).

Type:
Rock:
Adds an additional level of Priority (+0 to +1, +3 to +4 etc.) on naturally occurring level-up, egg, tutor, or TM attacks that increase only defense, special defense, or prevent damage (Full list: Acid Armor, Amnesia, Barrier, Defense Curl, Detect, Quick Guard, Harden, Iron Defense, Light Screen, Protect, Reflect, Skull Bash, Stockpile, Wide Guard, Withdraw). Reduced damage from all special attacks by two (2) Base Attack Power during Sandstorm, immune to Sandstorm damage. Ignores Arena restrictions on Rock attacks requiring an external rock source.

Abilities:
Rock Head:
This Pokemon's hard body prevents it from taking recoil damage from moves such as Double-Edge, Flare Blitz, and Head Smash.

Pressure: This Pokemon's presence fills the air with intense anxiety, and any damaging or status attack launched at this Pokemon costs the opposing Pokemon two (2) more energy to perform.

Unnerve (H): The Pokemon's presense causes immense tension in the opponent, preventing them from eating a held Berry. Natural Gift may still be used.

Looks like we've got a powerful, no-holds-barred fight coming up! Here's how we're going to get started:

Complications sends out their Pokemon and equips any items.
Rainman Legends sends out their Pokemon, equips any items, and orders first.
Complications orders second.

Then I come in and ref.

vs.
142.png

Valefor
Type: Rock/Flying
HP: 100
EN: 100
Status: N/A
Boosts: None

The two Pokemon stare each other down from across the dusty arena. Valefor takes to the skies and circles around Baal with a watchful eye. Both of these Pokemon are near-equally matched in stats alone, and while Kitsunoh may have a type advantage here, Aerodactyl's speed can be tricky to keep up with! Let's see how this round pans out.

Baal's wispy body fades away into purple smoke after only a moment of having his eyes set on Valefor. Intending to cause disruption rather than damage, Baal opts for a Fake Out, reappearing behind Valefor with a strike that catches the Aerodactyl completely off guard! It didn't do very much damage, but the unexpected impact caused Valefor to flinch and forfeit his action.

With the element of surprise gone, Valefor's speed once again reigns supreme on this battlefield. The Aerodactyl swoops down and bares its fangs--drenched in flame! The blazing attack screams towards Baal, and the Aerodactyl critically takes a fiery bite out of his competition! That sure did sting, and it even left Baal with a nasty burn, too. Baal, clearly disappointed, performs an Imprisoning ritual! Three moves from its memory--and Valefor's--sealed away from use. Looks like Earthquake, Taunt, and Roar are off limits!

But, it doesn't seem like Valefor cares what's off limits or not--he's going straight for another attack; this time, it's Assurance, a Dark-type move, that hits Baal for super-effective damage! Valefor's luck doesn't seem to be getting any better, though, but that's on account of Baal's Cursed Body, which disabled Assurance from further use! Speaking of Baal, he lands a rather heavy-looking Iron Head as a counterattack! That has got to hurt! Though, shouldn't it be something like...Iron Mask?

action 1
Kitsunoh used Fake Out, -6 energy, no crit (1 succeeds, 16/16), deals 4 (BAP) + 7.5 (Atk) - 4.5 (Def) *.67 (NVE) = 4.69 damage to Aerodactyl
Aerodactyl flinched

action 2

Kitsunoh used Imprison, -8 energy, Earthquake, Taunt, and Roar have been locked
Kitsunoh was hurt by its burn (-2 HP)

action 3
Aerodactyl used Assurance, -8 energy, no crit (14/16), deals 6 (BAP) + 6 (Atk) - 4.5 (Def) * 1.5 (SE) = 11.25 damage to Kitsunoh, Assurance was Disabled (Cursed Body, <30, 21/100)
Kitsunoh used Iron Head, -7 energy, no crit (6/16), deals 8 (BAP) + 3 (STAB) + 7.5 (Atk) - 4.5 (Def) - 3 (Burn) *1.5 (SE) = 16.5 damage to Aerodactyl

Looks like Valefor got off to a rather rocky start. But, both combatants are still well and alive for battle, and both still have many moves at their disposal. Who will emerge victorious? Find out next time!

Complications orders first next round, then Rainman Legends follows up.

(also please tell me if I missed something, I haven't reffed in a while and most likely made a mistake)

Rainman Legends sorry, I had been a bit busy over the weekend and wasn't able to post. I will within two hours. Also Iron Caliber it's usually up to the other battler to decide DQ in normal matches.

Psycho Shift-U Turn-Meteor Mash
If Aerodactyl uses Roost, use Snatch on that action and push actions down.
If Aerodactyl uses Evasive Agility successfully, use Feint Attack and push actions down.

And we're back, folks! Baal the Kitsunoh and Valefor the Aerodactyl are still staring eachother down mercilessly. Anything could happen in this tense conflict!

It seems like Valefor is trying to Roost! Yes, there's that white glow, it's totally recognizable--wait, what's this?! Baal lunges into the air at Valefor, and strikes with some dark energy! But, it didn't do any damage...wait! Baal is now the one healing! Looks like we just witnessed a bona fide Snatch attack go off without a hitch! Baal's wounds are beginning to patch up...but perhaps this may have been Rainman Legends' plan all along?! At least the burn seems to be doing some minor damage...

Once again, Valefor attempts to Roost, but once again, in a mechanical matter, Baal Snatches it! I guess the extra healing is nice, but...are either of these battlers paying attention to their Pokemon's energy levels?

As some sort of last-ditch effort, Valefor Roosts with an extreme amount of power I've never seen before! It's as if two Roosts were used at once...and then some! Baal tries Snatching this one, but it looks like it's all out of recovery moves for the match! That's what you get for using them all right away, I suppose. Unfortunately, it seems like the plan backfired, as Valefor is out of energy and is instantly KO'd! What a...surprisingly exciting round, considering what actually transpired, which was...absolutely nothing. Oh well!

This round was weird. Subs are weird. Unfortunately I couldn't find anyone on the IRC while I was reffing this, so if it turns out consecutive use penalty is accounted for in Snatch's cost, then Kitsunoh is also energy KO'd. Please let me know so I can change stuff.

Got Ruling from both Frosty and Pwnemon that Snatch can indeed snatch combos if both the moves used are snatchable.
Also, A3 Kitsunoh shouldve used alot less EN since its out of recovery moves so it only uses the 4 base EN, plus the consecutive EN penalty from the 2 rounds, meaning it shouldve expanded 12 EN a3

The recovery move wouldn't have any effect since Kitsunoh used its two, but the base energy cost of the move is still factored into Snatch's energy cost. Since the whole combo can get Snatched, Kitsunoh actually uses a lot more energy than it should have, meaning that both Pokemon get energy KO'd.

At least, I think so.

so uhh......Because Comp already used his 2 recovery moves, the third one fails, and he will just expand snatch's Base EN cost+consecutive EN penalty meaning i ENKO and he survives with 31 EN

I could have sworn that if you use a move and it fails you still pay the energy cost, but we'll go with what you're saying for now. You still send out next, though, but you don't order.

Aaaaand we're back! We had quite a bit of an intermission there, sorry for the technical difficulties and any inconvenience the ASB league may have caused you over the past few days. Regardless, Rainman Legends replaced their fainted Aerodactyl with a raring-to-go Sigilyph by the name of Slyph! Just look at the determination in her...eye...eyes? Which ones does she see out of?

Just like its companion Valefor, Sylph definitely has the speed advantage in this matchup. She goes straight into the action by flapping her wings and creating an intense Heat Wave that washes over the arena! Baal certainly doesn't take well to Fire-type moves, as we saw earlier, but this one hit much harder than Valefor's Fire Fang. However, Baal seems to be using that to his advantage! A harsh light erupts from the Kitsunoh as Metal Burst retaliates huge damage back to Sylph.

Not liking that attack at all, Sylph responds with a devastating Psychic attack, lifting Baal and throwing him against the wall of the arena. The attack was so powerful that Baal's Special Defense dropped! Thanks to her Tinted Lens ability, Sylph didn't have to worry about her attack being resisted, either! Very intelligently played! As for Baal, he retaliates with a Shadow Strike, jumping in and out of shadows to smash Sylph directly for some critical super-effective damage. Not only that, but Sylph's Defense was dropped as a result! Now we've got ourselves a fight!

Sylph concentrates the air around her into a razor-sharp Air Slash to end the round. Not only was the attack not resisted thanks to Tinted Lens, but the sheer impact of the attack left Baal flinching. No counterattacking at all seems to be Sylph's best option in this matchup!

action 1
Sigilyph used Heat Wave, -7 energy, no crit (8/16), deals 10 (BAP) + 6 (SpA) - 4.5 (SpD) * 1.5 (SE) = 17.25 damage to Kitsunoh

Kitsunoh was hurt by its burn (-2 HP)

action 3
Sigilyph used Air Slash, -5 energy, no crit (8/16), deals 8 (BAP) + 3 (STAB) + 6 (SpA) - 4.5 (SpD) + 2 (-1 SpD) = 14.5 damage to Kitsunoh, Kitsunoh flinched (=<30, 30/100)

Burn reduces physical attacks by 3, not 2 so Shadow Strike shouldve done
(8+3+3+7.5-4.5-3)*1.5=21

Also, -1 Stat Drops locks, so Sigilyph should have -1 Def and Kitsunoh should have -1 Sp Def
