Hey everyone, hope all of you are doing well right now, this is probably gonna be one of my last posts in National Dex due to my constant work as well as my motivation getting to a new low (especially for December) and honestly i'm not sure what i'll be doing after this. I will apologize for how i'll be talking here but now's just the time to chill and relax, go back in time and remember our good bits.

This is the 5th anniversary of National Dex, November 27 2019 being the time the room was made public which is where i decided to mark this anniversary. This is the first community i actually entered in terms of Competitive Pokemon, i've been on some Discord servers previously just being me (the bad me from 2019 to early 2021) and i have to say it was a huge ride for sure. I wasn't exactly a big hater on the whole dex cut or anything but i found this concept appealing and decided to join, from when it was a private room in this exact day (November 27), when the discord barely had like 3 channels and no activity for a week or two, to the absolute bonkers of the Dynamax meta, all sorts of things occuring in the early stages of a tier (especially Gen 8) up to now.

A long time has passed since then, i've met all sorts of people, liked all sorts of people, disliked all sorts of people, i've seen a lot of things change in good and bad ways, most notably with myself. I wasn't a good person and i'm not a good person right now either, i can confidently say i've changed to be a better person from years ago but not a good person, my experience in this place has allowed me to reflect on my thoughts, personality and life, i honestly can't stop thanking everyone i've met from the bottom of my heart, regardless of anything, this was an important and amazing experience for me.

Now i could go over a lot more things about how i'm not in the best position right now or how i'm still a lazy bum but i don't wanna make this about me, let's make this about everyone in the community. What was your experience in National Dex? And, throught everything you experienced in years or months especially, did you had fun?

This guy fucking sucks at Pokemon. In this replay we can see a player so atrociously bad at Pokemon that he almost gets himself killed multiple times a second. Despite the obviously precarious wincons he sucks so fucking bad at the game that he just can't stop throwing like a moron. It's only by sheer luck that he just barely avoids sending his winrate plummeting to his doom. Like this post if you think this total embarrassment of a gamer should never be allowed to touch a team tour again.

I joined in like late Gen 8, where things were already pretty great in NatDex metagame wise iirc. I know it was post-Blaziken unban and pre-Pult suspect. Don't remember why I picked up Pokemon Showdown but NatDex was the very first tier I played. Was pretty fun just trolling around with my favorite guys and being perma 1000s for a lil' bit. Was only really when I got into NDUU for its Money Tour that I started taking mons seriously. genuinely that was my only reason for getting into UU, did not have any interest in it before hand outside of random laddering. Some people have said that if it wasn't for my fortunate run there that I probably wouldn't have stayed, that's probably true tbh. Glad I stayed and larped here though, community's hella chill and there's rarely a dull moment in this Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Love Y'all

When I returned from my 2 year long hiatus to work on myself and my mental health, I was skeptical of how gen 9 would start. I was skeptical of the new Pokemon and all the sorts in between. I slid my foot in the door of National Dex Monotype as I started young in the Monotype community. I figured Z moves + new pokemon would make for a very exciting time battling and getting back into the swing of things. I do not have any replays or such to offer unfortunately. However my name was Bruised Thighs. I was stoked to fight my friends on the ladder with the few I had. With the help of the higher ups who run NDM, overtime I worked my way up from regular customer, to coffee intern (+), to job shadower (%), to head of HR and Directory (@) within a year of assisting with hosting projects and enjoying time within the community.

Happy birthday to the tier that took me in with a warm and nice welcome. I've made so many friends through this tier and the OM's that follow and I wouldn't ever take it for granted. <3 Also Gen 8 Natdex is still top tier even though I went 3-3 NDFL.

Got introduced to NatDex (UU specifically) by N_Mareanie, spammed FlySpam HO for a bit back when the only way to play the meta was Discord challenges and a roomtour, got like 6 mons banned (no points for guessing what type most of them were), contributed to Scarf Watershifu being popular because Mega Tar screens was going ballistic on the meta and it just kinda stuck, and somehow became NDUUTL along the way. I promise the co-TL slot isn't cursed :blobglare:. In other words, technically been part of NatDex since the early days but only recently got into playing NDOU itself (Tera ban goated). Only really played NDOU in Gen 8 in team tour to meme with Entei (and losing R2 but we lost to the team that took the whole thing so I consider that a not particularly massive L). Got a positive W/L in my first NDPL (the first one I think?) so that was cool. Peak NDUU was getting Tera banned a whole 2 years before NDOU, glad for y'all. That or maybe it was the time Spectrier was more balanced down here than it was in NDOU when it was still legal. Good times.

Community is pretty chill which I imagine is part of why I've been around so long, keep it up y'all.

Anyways, happy 5th birthday to escaping Dexit. Still can't technically catch 'em all but being able to use 'em all is close enough. We do get broken DLC mons out of it I guess. Not sure if it's a positive or a negative though.

I haven’t been around natdex for very long compared to its lifespan as I started playing this tier seriously around the gambit sus in Tera meta but so far it’s been a blast even when I haven’t really been the best player ever. I’ve met a ton of cool people playing this tier and learning how to play comp mons is genuinely a really cool thing because it’s helped me think more logically about not just how to play mons itself but also in all other aspects of life funnily enough. In a similar vein, mons has also been a way for me to see my faults and try to improve on them so I can be a more helpful presence to the communities around me, including natdex. I’m not perfect, I never will be, but even so I’m still glad to be given several chances to help the community and it’s been an honor to be a part in the time I have been here.

Man wtf I’m catching strays

anyway nd has been a blast even tho svnd pre Tera ban is kinda dicks I haven’t been around for a while but I’m glad I put in the effort to meet new people and establish myself in the community(best nd reg btw)

RunicPower413 sluGGy IRONM0NK3Y808 Ineros dewfew Illouri Medasus Sami Flames Of Elixir and prolly more I don’t remember off the top of my head thanks for BOOSTING my ego and SUPPORTING me in my nd endeavors

i hate you guys

i’ve always had a soft spot for this tier because it was the first tier i got seriously involved in. i was running around doing stupid stuff just for the fun of it in gen 8, like using cradily sand and sand tomb scizor + specs heatran (which i actually loaded in a tour recently) and i decided to lock in for gen 9 and actually try to get good at the game. has it been successful? absolutely not, but i’ve met some cool people along the way

Ani, Ineros, Boppy, Runic, Dewfew, Spooky, Medasus, Retere, About, Elvira, Adriyun, Oc, Loch, Slash, Sami, Hidin, Seth, Sealoo

all of these people i’ve had cool interactions with (except Adriyun that guy sucks!!1!), some more frequent than others but they still make natdex memorable for me
