5th Gen PRNG Help / Info - Latest: RNG Reporter 9.96.5, PPRNG 1.15.0

i've seen rng abused dittos on Gen V and i would like to know how it is done even without the sweet scent. (or maybe does the season matter because i am in winter atm)
Well it's certainly possible without sweet scent. It just means you have to hope you don't roll over the 128 step counter.

doesn't moving advance the seed? or is there another reliable way to advance the frames.

so what i'm taking is that hit my seed, run around to advance the frame then go into grass

Moving advances the frame by the number of Pokemon in your party every 128 steps, but the step counter is saved in your save file. So you don't know if when you save you are at 0 steps, or at 127 steps, or anywhere inbetween.

so i do the steps and then when i save it advances the frame by X? could i also use a max repel to keep track of my steps?

i have a settled on a frame of 22, so Target – Initial – Starting + 1 = Advances Required

22 - 3 - 1 + 1 = 19 advances?

Walking in grass advanced the PIDRNG, not the IV one. But, the PIDRNG can't even be controlled yet, anyway, so you should be using a Synchronizer either way to compensate. You can also just turn in place in the grass once you advance your frame, which should still get you your encounter.

No, saving advances the PIDRNG, not the IVRNG. And, like I said above, walking in grass already advances the PIDRNG, so you can't do anything with that aside from bring a Synchronizer and hope for the best.

Your math is spot-on, though.

Anyway, I'm not even sure where I should ask this, but since it involves the RNG I might as well try here first:

A male parent has flawless HP, Defense, and Special Defense. A female parent has flawless Attack, Defense, and Special Defense, as well as the nature that I want the offspring to have. Naturally, I want the offspring to have flawless in all four of these stats. From an RNG standpoint, would it be better to have the female parent hold a Power Bracer, or an Everstone?

Here's something interesting I found. I've been RNGing for Zoroark with a Timid Synchronizer. My synchronizer is in slot 2 of my party. I've tried two ways to RNG him:

1) I turn on C-Gear and immediately turn it off. I then switch my synchronizer to my first slot. I got a Modest Nature (did this 3 times same result)

2) I switch my synchronizer before turning on my C-Gear. I turned C-Gear off. I got a Quiet nature (did this twice same result)

It seems that switching a Pokemon in your party somehow advances the PID? Or is this just coincidence?

Everstone, imo. Also the Everstone doesn't need to be on the female, it can be on the male.

my last two questions, can i use a repel to keep track of steps and how would i get to 19 advances
Yes, you can use repels. And to advance 19, you will have to either use the PC (which I've never used), or advance 128 x 19 using only one Pokemon in your party.

Whenever possible you want to avoid prime number advances, for that reason.

Ok, so I was trying to RNG with my Action Replay DSi in (for IV check/100% capture) but when I searched the IVs I did get, even at +/-9999 delay and +/-9 seconds, it didn't show up. I use EonTimer by ToastPlusOne, attempting to RNG Victini. I guess my question is when do I hit the start button on the DSi AR screen. The AR DS had the big start button, but the DSi doesn't.

Sounds like a coincidence of the seed.

Everstone, imo. Also the Everstone doesn't need to be on the female, it can be on the male.

0_0 When did that happen?

my last two questions, can i use a repel to keep track of steps and how would i get to 19 advances

1. Yes, and 2. move a Pokemon from your party to the nearest PC, and pray that you can get to the Giant Chasm with only 4 Pokemon in your party before the step counter rolls over a 4th time. That, or walk 2432 steps with only 1 Pokemon in your party.

i know cause,i tired walking 128 steps in cobalion's cave, and the extra steps to run back and talk to him put it over 128+,which then i caught him then i got no result for his iv's

i read somewhere that zekrom and reshiram are not synchronizable, but I'm not sure about this.
to obtain a different nature, try saving before talking to him. if you don't get the right one, retry saving twice, and so on (saving advances the PID frame by 1).

my last two questions, can i use a repel to keep track of steps and how would i get to 19 advances

yes you can.

does walking say 134 steps mess up your frame advancement

it messes up your frame advancement if you step count is at 122\123\124\125\126\127, because you would advance the frame one more time with the last 6 steps. if you are lucky (not so much) it doesn't mess up anything. if it does, load the game, move from 1 to 6 steps, save the game, switch off the DS and retry.

edit: multi-ninja'd asd

You hit "yes" on the load codes screen when the first timer ends.

Gah. Twice now my attempts to get Cobalion have been thwarted by a swirling sand patch popping up right underneath me as I'm frame advancing. Is there any way to avoid this?

For instance... If, during my delay countdown, I ran around until the swirling sand appeared and then made sure not to run over it whilst later advancing the frames, would that change anything?

Pick a frame that doesn't require you to advance. Unfortunately that's not always possible.

Can someone tell me how to set the time for the non-cgear and how u get in the game??(Im using an Emulator) I set it to the right date but my time is 2:10:06 and im not sure what time i should set my computer time to.
Also when do I click Yes on the C-gear thing b4 you see the "Autumn".....at 2:10:06? or 2:10:00..

SOMEONE PLEASE REPLY IVE BEEN TRYIN 2 DO THIS FOREVAHHH D:

I am no expert, but as far as i know, you can not use non c gear seeds yet, they are not supported by rng reporter for the US right now, or ask about them at the moment on this thread(last time they closed it for that, and i think you might get in trouble with them), but i do not know what to tell you about emulators, sorry :/, but if you know emulators apply to rng reporter, then c-gear info is all around in the previous pages, that's the best info could give

It's been ages since I did any RNG in the previous gen, but I think I remembered something about certain carts only being able to hit odd or even delays. Does that hold true in this gen? I am going for an odd delay, and no matter how much I try or calibrate I always wind up off by a measly one delay. Or am I just that crappy at timing?

Zandock, that is no longer true for gen 5. You are capable of hitting both odd and even delays in gen 5.

Which definitely makes RNGing a bitch.
