5th Gen PRNG Help / Info - Latest: RNG Reporter 9.96.5, PPRNG 1.15.0

Another RNG problem here. I'm attempting to catch a pupitar on route 15 and for some reason whenever i catch a pupitar the IVs are not correct. i've hit my seed a billion times and have caught other species of pokemon on the route with the IVs i expected (fearow, gligar, throh, marowak and kangkaskhan have all checked out) but for some reason, every single time i catch a pupitar, it's a different set of IVs entirely -- and it's the same set each and every time.

i've missed my seed before and have had, say, a gligar with way off IVs, but not the ones pupitar gets. every time i get a pupitar i literally get teh same exact IVs every time i catch one. this is a phenomenon i've never seen before. it's always level 48, too, whereas other pokemon's level have varied as normally expected.

i don't get it. i find it impossible to believe that literally every time i've encountered a pupitar i missed my seed.

does this happen, ever? are some IVs locked on to a certain pokemon on a given seed? are some pokemon just not compatible with some seeds? i've been RNGing successfully for a week and this is the first time i've seen anything remotely close to this.

If you have Method 5 PIDRNG selected on the main window, a button appears on the right side, above the parameter search button.
Thanks. I had no idea this had been added... I thought you had to catch Pokémon on [starting frame] + 1, [starting frame] + 2, etc, and look for a match for the pattern of what you got in the long list of PID spreads. This is much better :)

I noticed there's a checkbox for "Roamer Released." I released Tornadus before, found it, defeated it, and then beat the E4 + Alder. It was my understanding that I had to go back to the house with the old lady to release it again (which I never did). However, I've noticed that it's raining heavily and snowing (in the style that indicates that Tornadus is nearby) on some of the routes. Was it re-released somehow without me going back to the house?

It's probably the fluctuation of Timer0. Two days ago I was so unlucky that like you I literally encountered the same pokemon like 40 times because my Timer0 decided to be C80 and not C7F. It's annoying and you can't do anything about. Just keep trying or recalibrate. My timer0 is C7F 60% of the time and C80 40% of the time of I'm unlucky, mostly it's C7F 80% of the time though... Just try to find which Timer0 you're most frequently on and keep trying to hit a seed with that one.

Once you release the roamer and KO it, it respawns as soon as you beat the champion. After the thousands of frame advances during the champion battle.

Oh, and the "Roamer Released" box is for prior generations, I'm pretty sure.

Ah... so is there any way to RNG for Tornadus at this point?

Also, what are the boldface natures for? I know that the grayed out ones are the "bad" natures (neutral, Lax, and Gentle), but I've never seen the boldface ones before.

Hm...that might be it. Timer0 is definitely finicky. I'll give it a shot and recalibrate. Thanks.

You'd have to finish the Champion battle on precisely the right frame to get it, while it's advancing at 120 per second. It's possible, but I don't think anyone's ever successfully done it.

Bold means you can synchronize on that frame.

Edit: does the PIDRNG advance during battle? If not, that'd make getting shiny roamers a lot easier (at the cost of making IVs damn near impossible to control).

TammiGo, kudos to you, my friend. Recalibrated (same Timer0 but go figure), tried a new seed just to see, and eventually I found my pupitar. Thanks!

When is the ivs/gender (most importantly, gender) of the Dream World Eevee (in my case Espeon) set? Can I save in front of it and roll for a female?
~Uiru

The eeveelutions aren't released as females yet. You can only get a male. As for when the IVs are set, I don't know when but you can read that in the second or third post in this guide I think which is about Entralink abuse.

I assumed so.

Does anyone have the HP equation?

Google is your friend.. but here:
HPStatCalcGen34.png

This was for gen 3 and 4 but as far as I know, no changes in it have been made for the 5th gen.

I'm having trouble understanding how to RNG HP Ice Thundurus. I've successfully RNG BRed and caught 15 Pokemon now, including legendaries, so I'm not totally clueless.

I'm using PPRNG, and here's my info:

TIMER0: C7F
MAC ADDRESS: 00-23-CC-BF-8A-5F
Vcount: 60
Vframe: 6
Model: Ds Lite
Version : White (english)

I selected my dates and times to search from, checked "Roamer", "Hidden Power Ice 70," and clicked search.

A few minutes later I got this result.

DATE: 2010/03/10 Time: 10:02:29 Tmr0: C7F Keys: none
Seed: 2B68C253C6F614F2 IV Frame: 1 31/31/31/31/31/30, HP ICE.

Note: I am NOT Rnging for a shiny Thundurus.

I opened seed inspector and under "Frames" I set the box to "Roamer Spawn."

I set the max PID Frame to 1000. I went down to a PID Frame I liked, Timid at frame 947.

Now how am I supposed to achieve this frame? I hear rain advances PID at 60 per second, but I am unsure what to do now. Thanks.

If you aren't trying for a shiny, you don't need to target a particular PID frame. Just hit your seed, do the encounter by mashing the buttons as quickly as possible, catch the roamer, and see what nature you get. If you're lucky and got timid, you're done. Otherwise, hit your seed again, do one chatot call, and then do the encounter with button mashing again and catch it again. Keep repeating and adding one more chatot call until you find your timid nature. I'd recommend using a masterball to save yourself time and frustration.

Will that nature that I get on the first try show up in the seed inspector? Will it be in the 50s range like usual? If so, I can find out how many Chatot calls I need to do to get Timid.

Also, where do I save? After I talk to the old woman, right at the door? Does exiting a door alter the IV frame?

The PID frame will be in the hundreds. It's not worth trying to track down the exact frame, and in fact you basically won't be able to. You'll just have to keep trying and using an additional chatot call after each time you catch the roamer with the IVs you want but the wrong nature.

You save inside the house after talking to the woman, so that all you have to do is take one step out the door (which shouldn't affect your IV frame). Just remember that once you save there, there's no going back. You can't avoid releasing the roamer at that point.

I've tried setting the starting frame to 21 to no avail. It seems RNG Reporter and PPRNG are giving me the wrong seeds for given times, as no matter what I try the spreads don't show up on anything I catch. I'm at a complete loss here and really can't understand why this is happening. If I'm not within 999 frames and 9 seconds I can't see how it could possibly be a timing issue.

Do AR codes alter the RNG perhaps? I pretty much always have IV check active.

Hola, new forum member here trying his hand at this RNG abuse stuff and I've got a couple questions.

At the moment I'm going for a relatively simple IV abuse on a wild solosis, and so far it's been going pretty well. After a rough start I'm now consistently getting within +/-3 frames of my target so I assume at this point it's just a matter of time. That said, I have a couple questions:

According to the RNG reporter, if I hit this seed right I'll actually get a shiny, synchronized solosis with ability slot one, which is hopefully magic guard and not the terrible overcoat. That said, I understand all of these features are based on the PID frame not the IV frame, and since this is IV frame 4 I have to advance the IV frame by 3 steps which I've been doing by having 3 party members and moving ~130 steps. However, this requires leaving the grass, and according to the OP the act of moving into a grass square will increase my PID frame by 2... probably nuking my shiny.

Now I'm not dead set on getting a shiny perfect stats guy, although that would be awesome, I'm mostly just aiming for the stats here, but if it's possible to ensure the PID frame is shiny then that would be amazing. I don't see how, because like I said the only meaningful way of increasing the IV frame would also increase my PID frame, but if there was some way to do it I'd love to hear it.

That said, while I'm at it, how can I tell what the PID frame should be to begin with? All I see is 'Frame', which is presumably the IV frame, and I can't seem to squeeze out which PID frame I should have to get this result. How can I get the RNG Reporter to tell me which PID frame I should have to ensure shininess, etc?

Another question: How far offscreen does a moving NPC have to be to keep it from messing with the PID? Or will it always mess up the PID if I'm in the same area? All three of the areas you can catch wild solosis/duosion in have moving NPCs, so that could possibly invalidate all of this anyways. All of them move in preset patterns, though, so maybe they aren't tied to the RNG at all...

Anyways, I'm sure I'll have more questions later, but these are the relevant ones at the moment. If I can figure out if I can preclude the wandering NPCs from messing with the PID frame and which PID frame I need in order to guarantee shininess, ability, synchronize and encounter slot then I think I'll have at least the basics down pat.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Edit: One last question. When messing with the timer like this I understand you run the risk of losing people in White Forest / Black City. If I stay within the same day, as I've done today, do I still run this risk? Is there any way of mitigating it beyond avoiding large time slot changes and not saving every time you mess with the time? Or am I just being overly paranoid here?

Hi everyone, I have a question:

Can I control the PID frame and the PIDRNG when I abuse with C-Gear Seed? If yes, how?

I use the latest RNG Reporter (9.81 beta) and I know how to hit the C-Gear seed, but i don't know how control the PIDRNG.
