5th Gen PRNG Help / Info - Latest: RNG Reporter 9.96.5, PPRNG 1.15.0

The starting PID is nowhere near what RNG reporter suggests. The rain advances the PID frame way past that.

As I said, "In my case though"... Not everyone has the same DS parameters so not everyone will get lucky like me. Anyways, my Thundurus has a determined PIDRNG starting frame so... yeah, i just thought of a need to share..

EDIT - I feel the need to share my DS parameter stats so if anyone has the same paramaters then I think you're quite lucky cause your Thundurus has a starting PIDRNG frame.

Can someone give me some pointers as to if I'm doing something wrong?
Using RNG Reporter 9.81 Beta, I put in all the details to get a Non-shiny 31/31/30/x/30/31 Drilbur from a cave spot. Upon choosing a frame (the one I'm using is frame 5) I believe I'm meant to walk 128 steps with 4 pokemon in my party to advance the frame from 1 to 5. If I do these steps inside the cave, does that advance the frame a lot further than I wished (as, upon trying I generally get a gem of some sort) or does it make no difference? If it makes the frame advance too far, then should I exit the cave, save, attempt again by walking the 128 steps outside (for reference, I'm using Misaltron cave) and then going inside to search for a swirling spot? I managed to RNG a Litwick yesterday, on my first few attempts to RNG pokemon, however as I'm an RNG noob, I've no choice but to seek help. Thanks in advance if you can help ^.^

You are doing it right. Walking inside a cave or inside a patch of grass doesn't advance the IVRNG frame. It does however advance the PIDRNG frame so if you have a Synchronizer with you then you need not to worry about anything else as you are doing it right.

128 steps with 4 pokemons in party = Achieve Frame 5 (no more, no less)

Okay, thanks ^.^ is there just something I'm missing that makes RNGing swirling dust harder? I had it where I got drilbur before, though when attempting it today, I appear to get gems more than anything else... which is quite annoying, as a gem isn't quite a drilbur... :/

Edit: Forgot to mention that I'm using Standard (non C-gear) RNG in my last post; for now, It appears to be easier, as I don't quite understand C-gear RNG

Take note that whenever you reset (because your going to hit your seed and hit the frame) ALWAYS DO WHAT YOU DID BACK THEN WHEN YOU ENCOUNTERED THE DRILBUR. Same routine, same path, same change of directions, same turns (you know, when your character sprite shifts from facing left to right, up to down, etc), ALL SAME...

Aha... Derp, now I remember... =) Thanks ^.^
Is it worth doing a re-check of DS parameters to see if it produces a different seed result to go after, and then to try again? RNG's a little confusing, but having already tasted success once, I'm gonna keep at it...

it is always recommended to check all the possible parameters your DS have. Because keypresses sometimes fluctuates or distort your Timer0 (which you can't do anything about so bear with it) so it is a must to check all your possible parameters.

Like me, I checked all my possible paramaters for the following held buttons:
  • No Held Buttons
  • (A)(B)(X)(Y) One Button Held
  • (L)(R) One Button Held
  • (A)(B)(X)(Y) Two Buttons Held
  • (L)(R) Two Buttons Held
  • (A)(B)(X)(Y)(L)(R) Two Buttons Held
  • (A)(B)(X)(Y) Three Buttons Held
  • (L)(R) Three Buttons Held
  • (A)(B)(X)(Y)(L)(R) Three Buttons Held
  • (Select)(Start) One, Two, Three Buttons Held [Includes all my buttons]

My NDS Lite produces different Timer0 and other specifics for different buttons. Though my NDS Phat produces CONSISTENT and NON-FLUCTUATING Timer0 so I'm kinda lucky with my NDS Phat X3

Anyways good luck to you!

If i wish to rng a pokemon using non c-gear in a specific encounter slot, do i just do the same method as a normal rng but select a specific encounter slot in the time finder and just go from there as i would do with any rng? help would be appreciated

Okay, little update; I tested my parameters again, and got this:
Pokemon White (English) (DS Original/Lite)
MAC address: 001ae903c152
Held button: Left
Date and time: June 6, 2011, 17:00:15
IVs (min-max): 9-9, 0-1, 0-0, 3-9, 0-2, 19-19

With these results, I obtained the folowing:
Actual time: 20
Vcount: 5E
Timer0: C71
GxStat: 6
Vframe:0
Seed: 54AD1E34834F9124

Does the highlighted time mean that, when I reset my DS next time, I have to start it 5 seconds before the time noted on the seed?
As I'm new to RNG, sorry for so many questions; If you can help again, then I'd be even more greatful. Thanks.

okay ive done abusing pidrng with egg hatching, but never tried it with wild pokemon. If i was trying to catch a shiny solosis on route 5, encounter slot 0 with magic guard, would i enter the ability criteria into the time finder, or would i wait until i have copied the seed to clipboard to change that? Also, on the clipboard, do i select method 5 PIDRNG? And when hatching eggs with this method i used the chatter once and then fly to victory road to check i hit my seed and verify the shifted starting frame, but how would i verify this with a wild pokemon? Also, (sorry for the questions), if there are NPCs on the route, but I am standing in a patch of grass where no NPCs can be seen, do they still affect the advancement of the PIDRNG? eg. do I have to take the shifted starting frame into account or can i just use the original starting frame?

route 5 + npcs = irritating.

if you can, just wait for route 9.. with no npcs.. you can do the basic, enter everything you want into time finder, [standard seed]. copy full seed in reporter [pidrng method 5], calculate initial frame, generate.. and get your frame you want, with the ability and nature you want.

and as long as you hit your actual seed right, the ivs will always be the same. regardless of pokemon, nature, ability result.

[i usually go for min frame 1 max frame 1. so i can just sit there, chatter and sweet scent]

but there are no solosis on route 9? :(
so im guessing that even though i cant see NPCs on the screen at the time, they are still affecting the advancement?
anyway thanks for all the help! :)

Edit:Ah, I was too slow... >.<

Also, is anyone able to help me with my problem above? It's starting to confuse me; I RNGed outside of a dust cloud, but... now, I'm lost...

I know this has been answered before, but I can't find it: Is there a way to RNG pokemon obtained through ingame trades? Is it just like receiving any other Gift Pokemon? i.e. I save in front of the NPC, advance the PID, then talk to it?

@Rikkardo: Seems that way. I'd say 5 seconds is quite a big delay though...

If I were you you I would just check with which Timer0 I can hit a seed.

To clarify, all of its stats are predetermined and are the same for every game. There's a list here.

Hmm... Does anyone have an adamant Synchroniser that I can borrow for a little while? I can get the drilbur to appear, just getting it adamant would take upwards of 200 saves... If anyone can save me from this, vm/pm me?

Would a parent from another language screw up my seeds? Can't get the right Timer0 for some reason :')
