Okay, so I've been testing Regieleki in 1v1 for a couple days now, just joined Forums and wanted to make a competitive analysis entirely on a whim. This is my first analysis, hopefully it works out. It is entirely unprofessional because I love littering writings with random humor and needs quality checked, so bear with me. I published this here because I had no clue where else to put it.
Here goes nothing.
------------------------------------------------------------------
This is Regieleki. Everybody say, ”hi, Regieleki.” Because if you get on their bad side, you might get smitten with the power of God. Unless, of course, you’re a Ground type.
Regieleki is a fast Electric-type that is mostly outclassed by Raging Bolt due to its higher Special Attack, but don’t let that deter you. Regieleki can pick up some KOs in its own right, but do not expect it to pull its weight against bulky Electric resists and Ground types. That’s what teammates are for.
You’ve Been. . . Thunderstruck! (Regieleki) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Transistor
EVs: 128 Def / 128 SpD / 252 SpA /
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
-Thunder
- Thunderbolt
- Hyper Beam
-Ancient Power
*This is a choice set, evidently. Choice Specs is chosen because most of Regieleki’s good attacking moves are special, so Choice Band is not really useful unless you reeeeeeeally want to use Supercell Slam and 55 BP Acrobatics. Regieleki’s Speed is so ridiculous that it outspeeds all of the unboosted metagame and most of the boosted metagame, so Choice Scarf is mostly useless.
*Most other items are unoptimal since Regieleki often wants to boost its decent attacking stats to OHKO most opponents, especially since Regieleki’s bulk is lackluster at best.
*Transistor raises that STAB to a juicy 1.8x, and it’s Regieleki’s only ability, sooooo. . .
*The EV’s are such because any viable Pokemon can’t outspeed this electric. . . electron with even max EV’s without boosts, so Speed doesn’t really matter. The rest is divided among Regieleki’s Defenses.
*The thought behind the nature is as such: “durrrrrrr i am special attacker with good speed so i do modest to boost special attack even higher dahahaa”. But you can use Adamant if, yet again, you reeeeeeeally want to use Supercell Slam and 55 BP Acrobatics.
*Thunder is clicked in most scenarios, as it allows Regieleki to outspeed and OHKO Chien-Pao, Darkrai, Espathra, Sneasler, as well as most frail and Electric-weak Pokemon (a common thread) and has a good chance of killing Iron Moth and Alolan Ninetales on the first turn, which is the entire purpose of using this set.
*The second slot is for another Electric type move, as Thunder’s accuracy turns a game into Elo Russian Roulette. Thunderbolt is reliable but packs less of a kick, missing out on valuable OHKOs like on Sneasler. Electro Ball seems promising due to Regieleki’s monstrous Speed. It isn’t.
*Hyper Beam is here because Regieleki’s attacking movepool is more like a move puddle. And, it does decent damage to foes that resist Electric or are immune to Ground that you should have brought a partner for.
*The fourth moveslot is highly customizable, but then again, Regieleki’s attacking movepool is not that deep, so it’s not exactly highly customizable per se. AP is here for all of you gamblers and people that play Pokemon specifically for the Rocket Game Corner.
*Regieleki hates, and I mean HATES, Ground types due to its shallow attacking pool, so counters such as Ogerpon-W, Rillaboom, and Alolan Ninetales are appreciated.
*If for some reason you find a Palossand, just forfeit. No point in trying.
*Have a good day.
