Gen 2 a goober's gsc ou team ( eggy+gar+ttar )

hi folx! been getting really into gsc lately and been fucking around on the teambuilder. i threw this together and wanted to know y'alls thoughts. i'll give a clearer idea for my choices for each pokemon below.

Exeggutor @ Leftovers
Ability: No Ability
- Stun Spore
- Giga Drain
- Psychic
- Explosion

exeggutor provides offensive support against pokemon that use rest or resttalk and pressures pokemon that zapdos paralyzes. giga drain threatens rock types attempting to wall mono curselax and allows for more passive recovery outside of leftovers, ground types that threaten ttar and gengar with stab eq and water types. psychic is obviously eggys stab of choice and is self explanatory. explosion allows eggy to trade and wallbreak. stun spore is the status of choice to enable my other pokemon.

Zapdos @ Leftovers
Ability: No Ability
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpA / 252 SpD / 252 Spe
IVs: 14 HP / 4 Atk / 26 Def
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Water]
- Whirlwind
- Thunder Wave

zapdos is my phazer of choice, allowing for snorlax to freely run resttalk to perform vital defensive duties for the team. thunderbolt is obvious consistent stab, water hits the common rock and ground types of the tier and occasional fire types. hp water prevents ground and rock types from being able to switch in and pressure zapdos as effectively. twave cripples most pokemon, therefore making the opposing team easier to deal with.

Snorlax @ Leftovers
Ability: No Ability
- Double-Edge
- Curse
- Sleep Talk
- Rest

need i speak to the gsc top dog? double edge is this lax’s stab move of choice, as it hits vital ko ranges such as 3hkoing zapdos unboosted and 2hkoing most the meta after a single curse. resttalk allows lax to perform important defensive duties while not being a sitting duck while sleeping.

Gengar @ Leftovers
Ability: No Ability
- Thunderbolt
- Fire Punch
- Ice Punch
- Explosion

i’ll admit - i know fire punch may not be the best 4th move choice, but there’s something satisfying about having coverage for steel types looking to have a free switch in and force gar out to then be hit by a super effective attack. Other than steel types though it seems kinda like a matchup fish, so it’s certainly more droppable for something like dpunch, thief or hypnosis. tbolt hits the waters, skarm and the rare uubl flyers. Ice punch is crucial coverage against grounds, zap and eggy and has a shot of freezing the opposing pokemon. finally, explosion is great for wallbreaking and making trades.

Tyranitar @ Leftovers
Ability: No Ability
- Rock Slide
- Fire Blast
- Dynamic Punch
- Pursuit

tyranitar is my pursuit user of choice and for good reason i feel. 288 special attack on a pursuit isn’t too shabby. dynamic punch off of 366 attack 2hko’s lax, miltank and umbreon after spikes damage. Fire blast scorches any steel switch ins who feel they can safely enter on ttar. rock slide is the stab attack of choice and is good all around, no questions asked.

Cloyster @ Leftovers
Ability: No Ability
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpA / 252 SpD / 252 Spe
Serious Nature
IVs: 2 Atk
- Spikes
- Rapid Spin
- Toxic
- Surf

finally we have cloyster! the most common spikes setter and spinner of gsc ou. spikes is mandatory to enable passive damage constantly and allow for more consistent ko ranges, rapid spin is kinda self explanatory, toxic for spreading passive damage on all pokemon bar poison and steel types and surf rounds up the set as not only cloys choice of stab, but also as a means to hit ground and rock types, as well as the rare fire types.

Honestly, not bad! Gengar + Egg have natural synergy, mixed ttar with plenty of para support is actually pretty scary, plus you're targeting Zapdos with your paralyzers which is good per se. You've also got something for the Spikes game, Monolax holds everything together defensively, and it has Pursuit support to go with it. Hard to go too wrong with this 6! That said, I have a couple observations:

1. You've got no normal-resist Phazer, which means that an enemy Curselax can get rolling and force you to make some awkward plays. Leaving Dos in to take a +1 DE; going for Lax ditto as your main defensive plan and eating DEs on the switch as a result; staying in with Ttar and going all surprised-Pikachu when DPunch misses. In short: you've got no fallback for the game's foundational threat, and you're frankly not fast-paced enough to get away with it (case in point: Rapid Spin Cloyster). Fret not, though! Despite the long-winded explanation of the problem, it's pretty simple to patch up: drop Dpunch on Ttar (or your other least favourite move) and run Roar.

2. Speaking of Rapid Spin Cloyster, it's generally seen as a rather subpar spinner because it needs to sacrifice Explosion to run it, on top of Cloyster being a relatively short-lived part of the battlefield and therefore quite trivial for the opponent to outlast in order to maintain Spikes. I'd honestly just accept that you're not spinning with this team and run Explosion to allow you to keep your foot on the gas / wiggle your way out of some sticky situations vs. e.g. Snorlax. Plus, it's one more thing that can blow up on a paralyzed Zapdos.

3. There really isn't much point to Fire Punch on Gengar. Gengar is already plenty threatening to the three Pokemon it hits (Steelix, Forry, Heracross), and those Pokemon are relatively uncommon anyway. It's better to run something for Ttar 9 times out of 10, as you recognize in your post.

4. With Egg, I'd suggest at least mixing HP Fire into your rotation (over Stun Spore or even Psychic, frankly) so that you aren't left biting on a rock against Skarmory. Otherwise, one of your main offensive pieces is taken out of the game from turn 1, and I don't think you can afford that.

if i drop stun spore on eggy, would it be worthwhile to opt for body slam on lax to compensate for the loss of a para spreader?
