A Typical OU RMT please rate!!

Hello everyone this is MOTM. I have been playing competitive Pokemon for a little over a week so I am extremely new to battling and team building. I am not sure what the purpose of this team is, but if I had to say what the strategy behind it was, I would say I wear down my opponents Pokemon by making the appropriate switches and using the most suitable attack. Without further ado here is my Pokemon Team.

In Depth Look

170px-068Machamp.png

Machamp@Lum Berry
Ability:No Gaurd
EVs:240 hp/248 Atk/12 Spe/8 SpD
Adamant Nature ( + Atk, - Sp Atk )
-DynamicPunch
-Ice Punch
-Bullet Punch
-Payback

-I chose Machamp as my lead because of its raw power and move coverage. It allows me to gain early game momentum. Leads like azelf, aereodactyl, and roserade are countered by the appropriate move and then bullet punched for the easy kill.DynamicPunch allows me to deal with bulkier leads such as pert because of the handy confusion many times this leads are prevented from getting rocks on the field. If I predict right I can get a free KO on ghost looking to negate DynamicPunch. Lum Berry is there to beat sleep leads. Extra EVs in speed to out speed other Machamps. The only leads machamp has trouble with are metagross, jirachi, skarmory, and the occasional Gyarados. For the first three I switch to Heatran who can deal with them with ease. For Gyarados I can switch to either Rotom, or Starmie.

230px-485Heatran.png

Heatran@Shuca Berry
Ability:Flash Fire
EVs: 252 Spe/252 Sp Atk/4 SpD
Naive Nature (+ Spe, - SpD)
-Stealth Rock
-Explosion
-Earth Power
-Fireblast

-Heatran can come in and deal with whatever Machamp can't deal with. Since I am running an Anti-lead I needed Stealth Rocks on a poke and with its excellent resistances Heatran can usually set them up. Fireblast to deal with steel types such as Metagross, Jirachi, and Scizor. Earth Power to ko opposing heatrans who come in believing heatran to be scarfed only for it to survive the earthpower thanks to shuca and ko back. Explosion to severely dent pokes like Blissey and especially Swampert who is hard for my team to face if Rotom bites the dust.

Rotom-C.png

Rotom@Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Hp/168 Def/88 Spe
Timid Nature (+ Spe,-Atk)
-Will-o-Wisp
-Discharge
-Shadow Ball
-Leaf Storm

-I chose the mower rotom form because it can counter Swampert which is dangerous to my team.WoW to cripple Scizors and Tyranitars who try to pursuit trap me if they don't use pursuit I can switch to a suitable counter into a weaker attack.Discharge to spread more status. Shadow ball for stab and to deal with other ghost. Leaf Storm to deal with Swampert and to hit other bulky waters hard.

180px-212Scizor.png

Scizor@Choice Band
Ability: Technician
EVs:248 Hp/252 Atk/8 Spe
Adamant Nature ( + Atk, - SpAtk)
-Bullet Punch
-U-Turn
-Superpower
-Pursuit

- Scizor act as a revenge killer and scout. It acts as an important check to Tyranitar and can revenge weakened Salamences. Bullet Punch to deal with the pokes mentioned previously as well as picking of weakened pokes. U-Turn for scouting to see if they have any threats to Scizor and potentially to other members of my team. Superpower to beat Heatran and Magnezone who are the best counters to Scizor. Pursuit to trap pokes that are weak to it as well as hitting Blissey that switch.

200px-472Gliscor.png

Gliscor@Leftovers
Ability: Sand Veil
Evs: 252 Hp/4 Atk/252 Spe
Jolly Nature (+ Spe,- Sp Atk)
-Earthquake
-U-Turn
-Taunt
-Roost

-Gliscor is my stall breaker. It also has a handy electric and ground immunity. Earthquake for stab and wearing down walls. taunt to prevent status and recovery. Taunt also forces switches which I can use U-turn to damage the switch in and going to an appropriate poke.Roost for recovery to keep Gliscor alive as long as possible. Gliscor serves as another check to Tyranitar as well as Infernape, and Lucario.

170px-121Starmie.png

Starmie@ChoiceScarf
Ability:Natural Cure
Evs: 252 Spe/252 Sp Atk/4 SpD
Timid Nature (+ Spe,-Atk)
-Thunderbolt
-Surf
-Ice Beam
-Trick

-Starmie is my second revenge killer. It is my check against Salamence, Gyarados, and Infernape. Trick allows me to cripple walls like Blissey and Snorlax. Getting rid of the scarf allows starmie to function better late game as well. Surf over Hydro Pump for reliability and PP.

No Threat list. Thank you Smogon Community in advance for rating my team.

Your whole team looks very well thought out and very solid. You already know, from what it seems, to be your weaknesses and you know what you need to do to handle them accordingly. There are only a few things that i would suggest, not so much to "fix" this team, but more-so to open up some options.

Heatran:
Heatran might do better with a LO, I'm not sure since the only one i'm personally used is ScarfTran, but LO will allow that extra power. It will give away you not being scarfed so use at your own risk. I would also switch up SR for possibly HP Grass (just for the better coverage on Swampert, tho that means that Gyarados is completely open to take Tran out). HP Electric could be put in if you're more worried about Gyarados tho. Just some things to keep in mind :)

Scizor: If you're using Scizor as a revenge killer, then leftovers or LO might be better for this task. With CB you get locked in, so unless you purposely choose U-Turn you are trapped unless you want to open up a poke for a completely free attack to the face. With Leftovers and a slightly more bulky build you can still get your revenge killing in (since most times your revenge killing a poke that's already taken at least a little damage or has a status of some kind). CB Scizor is still very strong, but you need to decide if the power is worth being stuck with that one attack.

That's all i can really think of at this point, but feel free to ask questions or debate a specific rating :) Good luck with your team. Remember that battle experience makes up a good percentage of a good battler. So get out there and do tons of test runs with your team and make changes when needed.

Hi I got your PM. It seems like SubDD Lum Kingdra can really hurt your team late game. After it gets a sub up (on gliscor, rotom wow, starmie, scizor, heatran....) it can DD up and really wreack havoc on your team once Rotom is weakened and Starmie is pursuited (very easy to do). To help out with this, turn Starmie into a Life Orb set of Hydro Pump/Thunderbolt/Ice Beam/and Recover and turn Rotom into a Scarfer. With a scarf, rotom outpaces +1 kingdra and hits it very hard with a STAB Thunderbolt. (Oh and please switch to Rotom-H. You don't need Leafstorm to counter Pert; it can't do shit to Rotom.) Other than that, the team looks really solid so gl.

Wait, how does Scizor check Salamence? Seems like Salamence Fire Blasts all over your dead body.

That is a good point. I didn't catch that :p The only thing i can think of is that either that CBMence will be locked into FB and that opens up for Heatran to come out or by some miracle Scizor outspeeds Salamence (O_o) and U-Turns out of there into Heatran to take that FB and return the favor on the poke that'll probably be switched into. That's the only things i can think of.

When mence comes in you usually have to give up a poke. With rocks up a bullet punch can usually be used to revenge a DD and Mix mence since life orb brings it into ko range although there is a chance it survives, Scizor will usually net a KO. I guess check wasn't the best way to say it but a lot of time Scizor makes sure I don't get sweeped by mence.

Edit fixed it in the main post

I have actually ran into a couple of Kingdras and your right they do wreck havoc on my team. I have used scarf rotom-h before and it is a beast but my problem with it is Tyranitars can come in and pursuit trap it or KO with crunch while any move I chose will be a 4HKO unless I run HP ground which will be a 2HKO. Life orb Starmie can 2HKO a Kingdra but Outrage will be an OHKO. I did these calcs on the Smogon Damage Calculator
