Abra 0/3

Stoward

Ah, you're finally awake
[OVERVIEW]

Abras is easily one of the biggest threats in the LC tier thanks to the fact it boasts the highest Special Attack stat and second best Speed stat in the tier. It also has a fantastic ability in Magic Guard, allowing it to be immune to damage from entry hazards or any other damage that isn't directly from attacks. Because of this, it is effectively the best revenge killer in the tier as it's always guaranteed to live a single-hit attack, while being able to return back the damage from Physical Attacks with Counter or throw out powerful Special Attacks, or alternatively it can utilize a Life Orb to increase its already fantastic damage output even further, while not taking any recoil damage. However, Abra isn't without its shortcomings. Its lack of coverage options mean that it struggles to do any sorts of damage to Steel-types without relying them to hit it with a Physical Attack so it can hit back with Counter or using its significantly weaker Physical Attack Stat by using Fire Punch. Its defenses also leave a lot to be desired, as it can be 2HKO'd by even neutral priority moves such as Mienfoo's Fake Out and can easily be taken out by Diglett - who naturally outspeeds it and can trap the Pokemon thanks to Arena Trap - or by Pokemon who chose to equip a Choice Scarf such as Vullaby and Mienfoo.

Moves
========

Psychic is a powerful STAB move that hits hardest against neutral targets. Counter is used to guarantee KOs on targets that Abra would normally struggle to get KOs on. When this is combined with Abras Focus Sash, this guarantees that Abra can live any Physical attack and OHKO the opponent back. Dazzling Gleam is the most efficient way for Abra to hit Vullaby as it OHKOs Berry Juice sets, as well as the best way for Abra to hit opposing Abras. Protect is used to prevent Abras Focus Sash from being broken by Mienfoo's Fake Out, while also avoiding being OHKO'd by Trapinch's First Impression and Meowth's Fake Out. Furthermore Protect can be incredibly useful for scouting attacks from Choice-locked Pokemon such as Mienfoo and Vullaby.

Set Details
========

Max EVs are placed into Special Attack and Speed to utilize both of these stats to the best of its potential. Allowing Abra to outspeed the entire boosted tier except for Diglett, Wingull, and Staryu while hitting as hard as possible. The remaining EVs are placed into SpD, as putting them in HP or Defense would decrease Counter damage.

Usage Tips
========

The most important thing about using Sash Abra to its fullest potential is to ensure that it stays at full HP so that its Sash remains intact. In order to do this, do not bring Abra in on direct attacks, instead make sure to bring it in after a teammate has been KOed, by having its teammates use Volt Switch or U-turn or on a carefully predicted double-switch. Once Abra has been brought into the battlefield, make sure that it is able to OHKO its opponents in front of it if you're planning on using Counter, or otherwise its Focus Sash will be broken and the move won't be able to be used. Psychic is the most spammable move for Abra, as it 2HKOs most neutral targets, however if Vullaby and Pawniard are still healthy, then you can dish out a lot of damage to them with Dazzling Gleam. If your opponent has a Diglett or a Trapinch, it is absolutely imperative that your Focus Sash is intact as Abra as these Pokemon prevent Abra from switching and Abra is outsped by Diglett and is unable to OHKO Trapinch, meaning that it is required to take a hit from them. It can however take both of them out with Counter.

Team Options
========

VoltTurn support from teammates such as Vullaby, Wingull, and Chinchou are crucial teammates as Abra is required to not take any damage from opposing attacks in order to keep its Focus Sash intact. Slower Vullaby sets are especially helpful for this as they ensure that Vullaby takes the damage first before bringing in Abra. Fighting-types such as Mienfoo and Timburr are nice partners for taking out the specially bulky Porygon and Munchlax as well as Steel-types such as Pawniard and Ferroseed that like to switch in on Abras attacks. Both fighting-types are also able to provide Knock Off support, which can be helpful for removing opposing Pokemon's Choice Scarfs Furthermore, both fighting-types appreciate Abras ability to take out common fighting-type resists such as Mareanie and Foongus, while dishing out heavy damage to Spritzee once its Eviolite has been removed.

Moves
========

Moves function in a similar manner to the Focus Sash set, however Fire Punch is used over Counter to 2HKO Steel-types such as Ferroseed and Magnemite, who otherwise wall them entirely. Substitute can be used over Protect as Abra naturally forces lots of switches so it can quite often get the opportunity to do this for free, however this makes Abra significantly weaker to Trapinch and Meowth and much more easily worn down by Mienfoos fake out.

Set Details
========

Max EVs are placed into Special Attack and Speed to utilize both of these stats to the best of its potential. Allowing Abra to outspeed the entire boosted tier except for Diglett, Wingull, and Staryu while hitting as hard as possible. 36 EVs in Attack allow Abra to have a chance to 2HKO max defense Ferroseed with Fire Punch.

Usage Tips
========

While Abra isn't as dependant on it as the Focus Sash sets, Abras minuscule levels of bulk mean that it strongly dislikes taking damage from direct attacks and therefore should be brought in with VoltTurn support from teammates, after a teammate has been KOed or on a well predicted double-switch. This set also lacks the guaranteed survivability of a single attack so therefore it has to be much more careful of Diglett and Trapinch as they can both easily trap it and revenge kill it. In earlier stages of the game, denting common psychic-type switchins with its other coverage moves is recommended as it can significantly ease predictions later once everything is in range of Life Orb Psychic. Protect is also a useful move to scout for Choice Scarf attacks, and most importantly avoid it being able to be trapped and removed by Trapinch's First Impression and worn down by priority attacks from

Team Options
========

Similar to the Focus Sash sets, Life Orb Abra appreciates VoltTurn support from teammates such as Vullaby and Wingull to avoid taking direct attacks and also avoids Fighting-types such as Mienfoo and Timburr to take out Ferroseed and Pawniard. Sticky Web support from Dewpider is one of the more noteworthy partners for Life Orb Abra as Sticky Web allows it to outpace Choice Scarf Mienfoo and most noteably get the jump on its biggest offensive threat, Diglett. Sticky Web offenses enjoy the extra breaking power from Abra, as well as the fact that it can OHKO common hazard removers such as Vullaby and Timburr. Steel-types such as Pawniard and Ferroseed are also useful for dealing with Spritzee.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Shed Shell can be used to prevent Abra from being trapped and removed by Diglett and Trapinch, however Abra much prefers the guaranteed survivability of a Focus Sash or the damage output from Life Orb. Psychic Terrain can be used over Protect, allowing Abra to be immune to the Priority attacks it dislikes dealing with while making its Psychic-type attacks even harder to switch into, however this is at the expense of Abra potentially being KOed in the process if a mis-prediction occurs. Energy Ball can be used to potentially OHKO Mudbray, Chinchou, and Drilburr, however it lacks the room on any of its sets to be able to reliably use it and it outspeeds and 2HKOes all of these Pokemon anyway and Choice Scarf variants of these Pokemon are uncommon.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Steel-types**: Both Ferroseed and Pawniard are able to comfortably switch in on most of Abras attacks, as Max Defense Ferroseed only has a marginal chance of being 2HKOed by Fire Punch and Pawniard only has a small chance of being 2HKOed by Life Orb Dazzling Gleam. Both of these Pokemon are able to OHKO Abra in return with Knock Off.

**Faster Pokemon and Priority Attacks**: Abras mediocre bulk means that it struggles taking even low powered neutral attacks such as Meowth's Fake Out. Diglett is especially problematic as it's able to trap it, outspeed it and remove it with any attack. Other Choice Scarf users such as Vullaby and Mienfoo are also able to outspeed it and KO it with almost any of their attacks.

**Specially Defensive Pokemon**: Specially bulky pokemon such as Spritzee, Porygon, and Munchlax can pretty comfortably avoid being 2HKOed by any attack from Sash sets and only have a small chance of being 2HKOed by Life Orb Psychic, while being able to hit back pretty hard in return and recover off the damage dished out by Abra. However all of these Pokemon are 2HKOed by Abras attacks if their Eviolite is removed.

this overview is unnecessarily big for a really simple mon. u have 9 lines of text for a mon that can be boiled down to fast strong and frail. u don't really need examples on the overview unless a mons viability is dependent on others. the point of overviews is to concisely get to the point of using a mon not get into specific matchups or w/e
