[SET COMMENTS]

Aegislash can run this set to utilize both its great attacking and defensive sets to be an excellent wall breaker or late-gate win-con. With significant investment in bulk, it is capable of trading blows with faster threats by changing back to its Shield-Form. Unlike the Wall Breaker set, King's Shield allows Aegislash to have increased longevity in conjunction with Leftovers if one is running it, thus making it a fine candidate as a bulky wall breaker or win-con on Balance teams. It can take advantage of passive or Choice-locked mons to freely boost and remove a valuable part of the opponent's defensive core. Shadow Sneak can threaten frail fast threats like Mega Beedrill with a boosted Shadow Sneak and can remove weakened mons within range of Shadow Sneak KOing it. The second attacking move can be either Close Combat or Iron Head depending on one's team composition and needs. With Close Combat, it provides near-perfect coverage to hit mons like Bisharp and Crawdaunt, who could switch on any other move from Aegislash and threatens an OHKO with Knock Off. Iron Head hits neutral targets just as hard, also avoiding the Defensive drops that Close Combat brings, and checks the Fairy- and Rock- types that can threaten its team.

One can also run Z-Crystals respective to their second moves to weaken Knock Off and to blow past would-be checks like Mega Aggron with Fightium Z and Dragonite or Amoogus with Steelium Z at +2 with some prior chip. As it is, due to STAB, Corkscrew Crash deals far more damage to neutral targets, making it a viable option. Attack is maxed out with an Adamant nature to deal as much damage as possible, 44 Speed investments to outspeed uninvested base 65s like Scizor and the rest into HP to better tank hits.

Balance team archetypes benefit from having it as a potential win-con while checking threats like Nihilego, Terrakion, and Breloom. Pokemon like Mega Altaria appreciate its defensive typing to take hits that it doesn’t want to take, like Fairy-, Ice-, and Poison- moves, and its ability to check opposing Mega Alteria and Nihilego with Iron Head. Rotom-Wash appreciates it checking Grass-types like Tapu Bulu and Breloom, while in return helping Aegislash take Fire- and Ground-type moves in return.

[Threats]
-Dark types-
The aforementioned Bisharp and Crawdaunt can OHKO with Choice Band boosted Knock off, but with a -1 in Attack for them from King’s Shield, Aegislash with a Z-Crystal can survive, and OHKO with Close Combat. However, having bulky Dark- or Fairy-types can help Aegislash not have to tank such a devastating blow. Pokemon like Mandibuzz and Mega Altaria make great teammates that benefit from Aegislash’s defensive capabilities.

-Fire types-
Healthy Fire-types like Moltres or Rotom-H can unconditionally threaten it out, so Toxic, Stealth Rock and Knock Off support can greatly ease Aegislashs ability to wall-break or win. Having Swampert or Rotom-W and help with fire types along with Toxic support, so they make valuable partners.

hi, aegi already has an analysis on site for nduu, please refer to the analysis reservation thread for whats available. locking

Hi, I’m going to have to QC reject this for a number of reasons:
  • The formatting is incorrect, as Aegislash already has a full analysis uploaded, you don’t need to restate things such as Checks & Counters. The official format for set analyses can be found here.
  • You’ve missed out entirely on some of the more important aspects behind this set - namely its inability to act as a direct check to some of the pokemon it would normally beat, like Salamence, as well as mentions of defensive pivots and support options such as hazards or Knock Off support.
  • There aren’t many mentions of physical walls such as Amoonguss and other offensive checks being good answers that need to be accounted for in the teammates section. Pokemon such as Mega Manectric that can weaken them for Aegislash have similarly been omitted entirely.
  • Pokemon such as Breloom and Mega Beedrill aren’t currently ranked due to being unviable. This along with the fact that you don’t give more specialised examples as explained above highlights a lack of overall metagame knowledge to me.
I’ll be requesting to lock this for the time being, let me know if you have any more questions.
