OU Aegislash

[SET]
name: Substitute
move 1: Substitute
move 2: King's Shield
move 3: Shadow Ball
move 4: Close Combat / Metal Sound
item: Leftovers
ability: Stance Change
nature: Quiet / Modest
evs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpA

[SET COMMENTS]

This set is predicated on the inability of a number of Aegislash's typical checks to break its Substitute, namely Toxapex, Ferrothorn, and Corviknight. Metal Sound pairs well with this, allowing Aegislash to muscle through these checks while behind a Substitute. However, Dark-types like Tyranitar, Bisharp, and especially Mandibuzz and Hydreigon are very common in the tier and wall the set, meaning Close Combat is usually the preferred option. A Quiet nature is run alongside Close Combat to avoid weakening it; if running Metal Sound, a Modest nature should be used instead.

Mandibuzz is very common and is a solid check to the set; ergo, Pokemon to take advantage of it like Clefable, Tyranitar, and Rotom-H are valuable partners for Aegislash. While Aegislash beats Toxapex and Corviknight when isolated, together they can PP stall Aegislash; pack Pokemon to break through this core like Life Orb Clefable, Toxtricity, and Dracozolt. VoltTurn support from the likes of Galarian Darmanitan, Rotom-W, and Cinderace is appreciated to give Aegislash more opportunities to wallbreak.

Mention that Mandibuzz has to be wary of using Roost against Aegislash for fear of Close Combat.
Again, Pokemon to take advantage of Aegislash inviting in Mandibuzz like Clefable and Tyranitar are necessary, as well as Pokemon that beat Toxapex and Corviknight like Rotom-H and Toxtricity.
Mention how losing metal sound makes it harder to wallbreak, so you'll need to pair it with other wallbreakers.

Seems fine otherwise, QC 1/2

I think you should switch Metal Sound and Close Combat around. With how much Mandibuzz is being used right now, Metal Sound really isn't doing too much, and if you manage to force Mandibuzz to use Roost, Close Combat can easily beat it.

[SET COMMENTS]

Despite the substantial nerfs that came with the release of Sword and Shield, Aegislash is still a formidable threat in the tier. You shouldn't mention the nerfs here at all; they're not relevant to the actual analysis. This set is predicated on the inability of a number of Aegislash's typical checks to break its Substitute, namely Toxapex, Ferrothorn, and Corviknight. Metal Sound pairs well with this, allowing Aegislash to muscle through these checks while behind a Substitute. However, Close Combat can instead be used to surprise Dark-types that would otherwise safely switch in, like Hydreigon, Tyranitar, Bisharp, and can even be used to punish Mandibuzz after a Roost. Make sure to switch these around. Also, make sure to mention when you should use a Modest nature and when you should use a Quiet nature.

Mandibuzz is very common and counters this set; ergo, Pokemon to take advantage of it like Clefable, Tyranitar, and Rotom-H are valuable partners for Aegislash. It doesn't absolutely counter it, so tone that down a little bit. It's still a good check though. While Aegislash beats Toxapex and Corviknight when isolated, together they can PP stall Aegislash; pack Pokemon to break through this core like Life Orb Clefable, Toxtricity, and Dracozolt. VoltTurn support from the likes of Galarian Darmanitan, Rotom-W, and Cinderace is appreciated to give Aegislash more opportunities to wallbreak.

name: King's Shield + 3 Attacks
move 1: King's Shield
move 2: Shadow Ball
move 3: Flash Cannon / Close Combat
move 4: Shadow Sneak
item: Leftovers
ability: Stance Change
nature: Quiet
evs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpA

Same thing here, make Close Combat the preferred option. Also, please put them in the 4th slot rather than the 3rd.

[SET COMMENTS]

This set trades the ability to beat Toxapex and Corviknight for better coverage. It'd be useful to know what this better coverage helps with. Close Combat is used to deal with Dark-types like Hydreigon, Tyranitar, and Bisharp, and Steel-types like Ferrothorn and Excadrill. Alternatively, Flash Cannon can be used instead—it still hits Hydreigon and Tyranitar for good damage, while also hitting Fairy-types like Clefable, Grimmsnarl, and Togekiss for much more damage than anything else on the set. Shadow Sneak is valuable priority, able to pick off weakened offensive threats like Galarian Darmanitan, Dragapult, and Hatterene. Hawlucha's a pretty notable target as well. Shadow Ball will almost always leave Hawlucha in range of Shadow Sneak.

Again, Pokemon to take advantage of Aegislash inviting in Mandibuzz like Clefable and Tyranitar are necessary, as well as Pokemon that beat Toxapex and Corviknight like Rotom-H and Toxtricity. Entry hazard support from Pokemon such as Ferrothorn, Seismitoad, and Tyranitar helps to chip down some of Aegislash's answers in Toxapex and Ferrothorn. Dropping Metal Sound makes it much more difficult for Aegislash to wallbreak, so it should be paired with Pokemon that can compensate for this like Galarian Darmanitan, Hydreigon, and Toxtricity. This point is based around cross-referencing a set, which we don't do. You could just mention that Aegislash struggles to break teams down efficiently on its own, so it's a good idea to pair it with powerful wallbreakers.
