Aegislash QC 2/3 (Written)

[OVERVIEW]
Aegislash is a great defensive wall in Balanced Hackmons, having high mixed defenses and many resistances. This allows Aegislash to switch into common -ate users like Mega Diancie and Kyurem-B as well as powerful wallbreakers like Mega Mewtwo Y and Mega Rayquaza to a certain extent. Although they usually bring coverage moves that can hit Aegislash super effectively, it can utilize Flash Fire to take on coverage moves like V-Create and Blue Flare or threaten to bring then down with a Prankster Destiny Bond. Aegislash's Ghost typing also gives it an edge over other Steel-types, as its immunity to Fighting- and Normal-type attacks allows it to switch into Pokemon like Mega Mewtwo X and Shedinja and to perform the role of a spinblocker.

However, Aegislash is weak to several common types like Ground, Fire, Dark, and Ghost. This means it is unable to completely wall Psychic- and Fairy-types like Mega Mewtwo X or Mega Diancie, which can hit it super effectively with their coverage moves like Knock Off and Precipice Blades. This also means it cannot completely wall -ate users, as it cannot cover both its weaknesses to Ground and Fire at the same time. Its weakness to Dark leaves it vulnerable to Pursuit trapping from the likes of Yveltal and Mega Tyranitar, leaving Aegislash with low health as it switches out against them, allowing foes to break through it much more easily. Because of its weakness to common utility moves like Knock Off and Spectral Thief, it cannot wall common defensive Pokemon like Giratina, Yveltal, and Primal Kyogre, which can be achieved by other Steel-types. Therefore, it faces stiff competition in this aspect from other Steel-types like Registeel and Celesteela, with the former having better bulk and the latter being able to better handle Psychic- and Fairy-types and even Primal Groudon with the combination of an immunity to Ground-type moves and Primordial Sea or Flash Fire. Both of them have situationally better typing as well, as Registeel does not have a crippling weakness to Dark- and Ghost-type, preventing it from being heavily weakened from Pursuit trapping, and Celesteela is immune to Ground-type attacks without Levitate while also being neutral to Dark and Ghost. This means they are able to handle Regigigas better than Aegislash, as Regigigas commonly brings a Dark- or Ghost-type coverage move. Aegislash's low HP stat also hinders its ability to effectively check powerful wallbreakers like Choice Specs Mega Rayquaza or Sheer Force Mega Mewtwo Y and forcing it to recover more often. It dislikes entry hazards, mainly Spikes, as they turn 3HKOs into potential 2HKOs, for example, Boomburst from Choice Specs Mega Rayquaza or even Spectral Thief from defensive Primal Kyogre. Its Speed is also higher than common pivots like Registeel and Mega Audino, so it will be less effective as a slow pivot, making it a large momentum drain against slower walls.

Moves
========
Spectral Thief steals boosts from setup sweepers like Doom Desire Dialga or Mega Rayquaza. It also does decent damage to Pokemon that are weak to it, like Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y. Topsy-Turvy is an alternative move to stop setup sweepers, as it can reverse all stat changes. It improves Aegislash's matchup against Normal-type setup sweepers like Regigigas. However, it cannot hit through Magic Bounce or Substitute. Shore Up provides Aegislash with a reliable recovery method, allowing it to switch into threats consistently. Aegislash can use U-turn on Pokemon that can't threaten it like Choice Band Mega Blaziken locked into V-Create or Dialga as they switch out to pivot out. It prevents Pokemon like Primal Groudon to gain a free switch against you. Parting Shot is another good way of pivoting out while also lowering the foe's offensive stats, although it is stopped by Taunt, Magic Bounce and Soundproof users like Dialga or Zygarde-C. Alternatively, Baton Pass can be used with Spectral Thief, as it can pass along stolen stats. However, it will also pass Leech Seed and any negative stat drop. It is also stopped by Taunt. It also makes imposter-proofing more difficult, as opponents can use Imposter to take advantage of Aegislash's stolen boosts and pass them to a teammate, forcing you into a difficult situation. Entrainment is used to cripple Pokemon that rely heavily on their abilities like Poison Heal, Magic Bounce, Regenerator, and -ate like Primal Kyogre, Mega Sceptile, and Mega Diancie. Will-O-Wisp can be used over Entrainment to cripple physical attackers like as Mega Mewtwo X and Pheromosa, burn Poison Heal users that have not activated their Toxic Orb, and beat Shedinja. It can also be used to chip away at Pokemon like Mega Mewtwo Y and scout for Magic Bounce users, as Aegislash is immune to Will-O-Wisp. Defog can take advantage of Aegislash's bulk to removes entry hazards safely for the team. Anchor Shot can be used over U-turn to trap and KO Fairy-types like Mega Audino or Mega Diancie, preventing Aegislash from being too passive.

Set Details
========
A Sassy nature with 0 Speed investment makes Aegislash's U-turn as slow as possible. Flash Fire removes Aegislash's Fire-type weakness, allowing it to take Blue Flare or V-Create from Mega Blaziken, Kyurem-White, Mega Mewtwo Y, and Mega Rayquaza. Safety Goggles allows Aegislash to be immune to Spore, allowing it to safely check Pokemon that use Spore like Triage Mega Rayquaza. Darkinium Z can be used in conjunction with Parting Shot to restore an incoming ally's HP to full. It also protects Aegislash from Trick and reduces damage from Knock Off. However, Aegislash will then be vulnerable to Spore and your team will lose the opportunity to use another Z-Move. Magic Bounce also stops Parting Shot, causing you to waste your Z-Move. Rocky Helmet can chip down Pokemon using U-turn and punish -ate users with Fake Out and Extreme Speed, but it is generally inferior to the listed options.

Usage Tips
========
You should use Team Preview to identify Pokemon that Aegislash can potentially wall, like Mega Blaziken, Magic Guard Mega Diancie, Dialga, or Shedinja, and keep it healthy throughout the match to check these Pokemon safely. If Aegislash is not needed to wall these Pokemon, use U-turn liberally to gain momentum, scout for abilities using Entrainment, and chip down opposing Pokemon with Will-O-Wisp. If the opponent has Pokemon that can threaten Aegislash, like Mega Gengar and Yveltal, be sure to U-turn out when it comes in to check another Pokemon, and come back in on double switches to keep yourself healthy, such as against Mega Mewtwo X or Dialga. Make sure to scout for any coverage moves from Pokemon that Aegislash would otherwise check, like Earth Power or Moongeist Beam from Mega Mewtwo Y and Mega Rayquaza, or you risk Aegislash being severely weakened. You should be careful when switching into other defensive Pokemon like Mega Audino or Solgaleo, as they may knock its Safety Goggles off, affecting its ability to check Pokemon with Spore. Some defensive Pokemon like Celesteela or Dialga may also bring Spectral Thief, doing decent amounts of damage and forcing Aegislash to recover. Using Darkinium Z will also make you vulnerable to Spore, so you should scout for it when using Darkinium Z. If Aegislash is running Topsy-Turvy, be aware of setup sweepers with Magic Bounce or Substitute, as you will be giving them a free turn to set up and therefore lose a lot of momentum in the process. If Parting Shot is the chosen pivot move, scout for Soundproof users, as they gain boosts from it and block it respectively. Use U-turn liberally if Aegislash has a decent amount of health, otherwise, use Shore Up to keep it healthy enough to check Pokemon like Mega Mewtwo Y or Mega Rayquaza safely.

Team Options
========
Aegislash's resistances and weaknesses allow it to synergize easily with other defensive Pokemon like Zygarde-C, Mega Audino, and Yveltal. Fairy-type Pokemon such as Xerneas or Mega Audino help Aegislash against Dark-types such as Yveltal or Mega Tyranitar. However, to switch into Knock Off, make sure their Toxic Orb has been activated if using Poison Heal, or they will be crippled throughout the match. An alternative anti-setup Pokemon such as Prankster Haze from Zygarde-C or Unaware users like Mega Audino and Mega Gyarados is useful, as Aegislash invites setup sweepers which are able to force Aegislash out like Yveltal, and if running Topsy-Turvy, Magic Bounce setup sweepers. Imposter users are also quite helpful in helping Aegislash check powerful wallbreakers by scouting for their coverage moves. This allows you to make the appropiate plays in order not to let Aegislash get overwhelmed by a surprise coverage move. A secondary -ate check is appreciated, as they can blow past Aegislash if running Ground-type coverage like Precipice Blades from Mega Diancie, and Aegislash is rather vulnerable to -ate users with Choice Specs like Mega Rayquaza or Kyurem-W. A check to Mega Gengar like Yveltal or Primal Kyogre is necessary, as Aegislash invites in Mega Gengar and gives it a free turn to set up if Aegislash did not U-turn on it. Physical walls like Zygarde-C or Giratina can take strong physical attacks, mainly Ground-type attacks, from the likes of Primal Groudon or Mega Garchomp for Aegislash. Aside from these physical walls, a check to Regigigas like Magic Bounce Tyranitar is also appreciated, as Aegislash fails to reliably check it due to its Ghost typing. An answer to Primal Kyogre is required, as offensive sets can easily overwhelm it with its powerful attacks. Examples include RegenVest Primal Kyogre or Red Orb Groudon with recovery. Pokemon that rely on Fire- and Fighting-type coverage like Mega Sceptile and Mega Blaziken can be used as teammates that are imposter-proof by Aegislash. You could also tweak sets so that they can be imposter-proofed by Aegislash, such as Choice Band Kartana and Pixilate or Refrigerate Mega Mewtwo X.

Moves
========
Prankster Haze can remover setup, as it cannot be blocked by Dazzling nor Dark-type's immunity to Prankster moves. Encore is an option over Haze to lock setup sweepers into their boosting moves and cause general disruption in the opponent's game plan; however, it is very prediction-reliant and will lose a lot of momentum if predicted wrongly or even allow the foe to KO Aegislash. Its lack of PP also makes it an inferior choice as it will be less useful in matchups where you are forced to PP stall. Topsy Turvy can reverse stat changes of setup sweepers like Mega Mewtwo Y and BellyBurden Necrozma-DM. However, it will worsen Aegislash's matchup against Pokemon with Magic Bounce and Dazzling and Dark-type setup sweepers like Yveltal. This moveslot should be tailored to what your team needs, whether it be a check to setup sweepers or a utility Prankster user. Shore Up recovers 50% of Aegislash's health, improving its longevity. U-turn prevents Aegislash from being a sitting duck against Pokemon it cannot check by pivoting out from an unfavorable matchup. It cannot be blocked by any means, unlike other pivot moves. Destiny Bond can be used to put an emergency stop to a sweep, however, it will cost the loss of Aegislash in the game and may put you at a disadvantage for losing a utility Pokemon on your team. Entrainment removes abilities such as Poison Heal, Regenerator and -ate, and helps the team to check them. Parting Shot is an option in the last slot alongside U-turn as a way of pivoting while preventing Rocky Helmet chip and lowers the foe's offensive stats as it switches out. This is especially useful against powerful wallbreakers like Adaptability Mega Garchomp or Sheer Force Mega Mewtwo Y, as it lowers their offensive stats and allows Aegislash's teammates to deal with them more easily. It also helps Aegislash to pivot out quickly if you have double switched it in an unfavourable matchup, such as against Mega Gengar or Primal Kyogre. However, it is blocked by Magic Bounce, Soundproof, Dazzling, and Dark-types, making Aegislash more susceptible to Pursuit trapping.

Set Details
========
Safety Goggles prevent Spore from crippling Aegislash, letting it beat setup sweepers that use Spore. Prankster gives Aegislash priority status moves, and is useful for stopping setup sweepers with Prankster Haze, healing up with Shore Up before the foe attacks and removing and scouting abilities with Entrainment. Prankster Destiny Bond is also useful in putting a stop to setup sweepers that threaten to 6-0 to the team. A Sassy nature with 0 Speed investment allows Aegislash to fit the role as a slow pivot and preventing Core Enforcer from faster defensive Pokemon from removing its ability, such as that from Dialga or Celesteela. However, it will not affect Parting Shot, as it is boosted by Prankster, allowing Aegislash to pivot out without having to take a hit or double switch. Darkinium Z should used with Parting Shot to fully heal the incoming Pokemon when using Z-Parting Shot. Holding a Darkinium Z can also prevent Trick and reduce Knock Off damage. However, it is easily blocked with the common Magic Bounce, Soundproof, Dazzling and Dark-types, so it should be used with caution so the Z-Move won't be wasted.

Usage Tips
========
Bring Aegislash in on Pokemon it walls like Dialga so their movesets can be scouted beforehand. Despite the mentioned advantages, it is best to switch Aegislash through a slow pivot move or predicted boosting moves from the foe so as to reduce damage taken to improve Aegislash's general longevity and effectiveness. When running Parting Shot, scout for opposing Magic Bounce or Soundproof users. Magic Bounce will give opponents a free switch, although it is beneficial for hazard-stacking teams by chipping away foes. Soundproof users force you to direct switch to maintain momentum. Dark-types also force you to direct switch, as they can block Prankster Parting Shot and Pursuit trap you. Aegislash has a lot of support options, so it is important to choose the right one for your team. Haze, for one, is generally the best option for stopping setup sweepers, but it tends to struggle against setup sweepers that can overwhelm Aegislash with powerful moves, such as Mega Mewtwo Y and Primal Kyogre. This is where Entrainment, alongside Topsy-Turvy or Encore, are best used, which Entrainment can change the foe's ability, Topsy-Turvy can reverse their boosts, and Encore can lock setup sweepers into their boosting moves, forcing them to switch out. However, one should use Encore with caution, as it has very little amount of PP, and can be easily taken advantage of if you predict wrongly, losing a lot of your momentum in the process. There is also a significant risk of using these moves, as they are all stopped by Dark-types, which means your Prankster user is unable to stop Dark-type setup sweepers without taking massive damage. When taking out a foe with Destiny Bond, it will make other setup sweepers on the opponent's team harder to deal with after Aegislash faints. Therefore, identify if you can take down the foe with an alternative method if Aegislash is still useful in checking certain Pokemon in the opponent's team. Even if the opponent did not KO you while you have Destiny Bond activated, you can simply U-turn out to prevent a loss of momentum. Therefore, a wrong prediction will not usually be too big of a deal, unless the setup sweeper is able to sweep through your entire team if it does not get taken down by Destiny Bond. Aegislash is pressed to check common threats like Mega Rayquaza, Regigigas and Dialga, so keep it healthy throughout the match if those threats are still present.

Team Options
========
Physically defensive walls like Fur Coat Zygarde-C or Giratina form an amazing defensive core with Aegislash, being able to take powerful physical attacks like V-Create or Precipice Blades for Aegislash and helps Aegislash take on Pokemon like Mega Tyranitar and Mega Garchomp. Mega Audino is an exceptional partner for Aegislash, with Aegislash taking Fighting-, Poison- and Steel- type attacks for Mega Audino and Mega Audino taking Ghost- and Dark-type attacks. Aegislash can also help Mega Audino with removing entry hazards, especially if Mega Audino is not running Poison Heal. All Mega Gengar varients is a huge problem for Aegislash, so checks to it like Yveltal or Mega Tyranitar can help with it. In addition, they can help pressure Giratina, which can otherwise switch into Aegislash. Pokemon that can deal with Regigigas are also important, as it can break through Aegislash with sleep moves and a super effective coverage move. Examples include Magic Bounce Steel-types and Mega Tyranitar, as well as Fur Coat users like Zygarde-C. Magic Bounce Steel-types and Mega Tyranitar can also help with Normalize Mega Gengar. You also need a Primal Kyogre check, like RegenVest Dialga and Primal Kyogre, Unaware Ferrothorn, and Imposter users, as Aegislash is easily overwhelmed by Primal Kyogre's powerful moves. Imposter can help scout for super effective coverage moves from Mega Mewtwo X and -ate users, allowing you to make the nessessary switches in order to beat them. An extra -ate check like RegenVest Primal Kyogre or Soundproof Mega Audino is needed, as Aegislash tends to get weakened rather quickly and may be unable to check them if it gets Pursuit trapped. Prankster moves do not work on Dark-types, so Fairy-types that take advantage of them like Xerneas or Mega Diancie are good Pokemon to take advantage of them. Attackers like Xerneas and Mega Mewtwo Y appreciate foes having their attack and special attack lowered from Parting Shot, so they will not take too much damage while switching in. Use Aegislash's Ghost typing to your advantage for customizing wallbreakers or sweepers that are imposter-proofed by Aegislash. This ranges from Triage Mega Rayquaza with Secret Sword to Pixilate or Refrigerate Mega Mewtwo X.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
Magic Bounce is an option over Flash Fire, but it is better used on other Steel-types like Regigigas, which has superior bulk and a better matchup against bulky Pokemon like Giratina and setup sweepers like like Yveltal and Regigigas, as they do not have weaknesses to Dark- and Ghost-types. Mold Breaker Aegislash can Pursuit trap Shedinja and even set up entry hazards without fearing Magic Bounce. It also allows it to use Parting Shot without fear of the foe's ability. However, it has no other use other than the said ones. Levitate can be used to alleviate Aegislash's Ground-type weakness and better check Pokemon with Ground-type coverage like Earth Power from Mega Rayquaza or Mega Mewtwo Y or Precipice Blades from Mega Diancie. It also negates damages from Spikes, allowing Aegislash to remove entry hazards and switch in on Pokemon more easily. You could even use it to check Mega Garchomp, which can break through many unprepared teams. However, since Fire-type coverage is more common, Flash Fire will be the better ability, as it also allows Aegislash to take on V-Create from Pokemon like Mega Blaziken and Choice Band Kartana, as well as Will-O-Wisp.

Checks and Counters
===================
**Super Effective Coverage**: Aegislash is weak to common coverage types like Ground, Fire, Ghost, and Dark. Examples of Pokemon that use these are Mega Mewtwo Y, Mega Rayquaza, Xerneas, and Regigigas. Although the problem with its Ground- and Fire-type weakness can be alleviated by running Flash Fire or Levitate respectively, it takes up its ability slot and only one can be used.

**Mega Gengar**: Although it dislikes taking Spectral Thief, Mega Gengar is able to threaten Aegislash with its powerful Ghost-type STAB moves. It can also utilize the turn that Aegislash switches out to set up, forcing you to deal with it immediately, or just throw off a powerful move.

**Primal Groudon**: Primal Groudon is capable of threatening Aegislash with its powerful STAB moves no matter what set it runs. It is immune to Will-O-Wisp and can heal off the damage from Spectral Thief.

**Primal Kyogre**: Primal Kyogre's high Special Attack stat and high base-powered moves allow it to overwhelm Aegislash even for defensive sets. Defensive sets can heal off the damage from Aegislash's moves, while offensive sets completely disregard Aegislash's bulk. In return, Aegislash cannot do much in return due to Primal Kyogre's natural bulk.

**Powerful Wallbreakers**: Wallbreakers like Primal Kyogre, Sheer Force Mega Mewtwo Y, and Choice Specs Mega Rayquaza can threaten to 2HKO or even OHKO Aegislash with sheer power.

**Dark-types**: Dark-types that naturally force Aegislash out like Yveltal and Mega Tyranitar can use the free turn to set up and or use Knock Off to annoy your team. A lot of these Dark-types can also utilize Pursuit and Knock Off, rendering Aegislash unable to effectively check Pokemon and forcing a Pokemon to have its item removed respectively. They are also immune to Prankster moves barring Haze and setup sweepers can take advantage of Prankster Aegislash without Haze to set up.

Overview
Note that the loss of 20 base hp versus registeel forces it to recover more often.
Super low offensive stats makes it extremely passive, inviting things to swich in and set up on it. This is a huge problem, and the 60 speed it has means that it can only slow pivot against some walls. So it's a real momentum drain.

Consider moving MB to other options; other steel types do this better, and the fighting immunity doesn't mean much when bulkier steels can run magic bounce better. Most rockers aren't using powerful fighting moves, and MB Aegi is a bad check to regigigas.

flash fire set
The fourth moveslot should be Move 4: Defog / Will-o-Wisp / Entrainment

No baton pass please. DO you really want Imposter passing on your spectral thiefed boosts? I didn't think so. Plus if you get taunted you have to manual switch out.
Anchor shot can't actually trap imposter because Aegi is a ghost type. I would remove this because even if you were to use it to trap Regigigas, Aegislash can't really check Regigigas for long.
Consider moving will-o-wisp up. It's a really solid move. Punishes a lot of switchins. It's probably better than entrainment, because you can use it to hit things like Prankster Registeel, and burning that is extremely useful. It also lets you win one on one against non lumb berry sheds.
Rapid Spin is horrible on this set and shouldn't even be considered, because you are spinblocked hopelessly by Gira and shed.

set details
Flash Fire obviously lets it take fire moves. Instead say what sort of sets Flash Fire Aegi walls that it couldn't otherwise, namely Contrary MMX, Contrary Ray, Aerilate and pixilate sets without Ground coverage, Wallbreaking Mega Blazicon sets, Ph Xerneas without earth power etc
Safety goggles: Don't mention ph regi here. Most of them will just knock the goggles off and sleep it anyway, so it can really only force out PH Regigigas once, and then only if it has topsy or Entrainment.

checks and counters
A lot of walls can just switch in on aegislash and shut it down or pivot slower than it. Things like FF Registeel, Audino with ph or mb, Ferrothorn, and Mega Slowbro

usage tips
Literally all I get from here is what not to do with Aegislash. When can I actually use Aegislash? How to get it in? On which targets can I hard switch it in and which ones can I only use it to check things? How long to stay in?
Merge the parting shot and Topsy Turvy bullets, obviously if they are immune to your moves and you try to use them you lose a lot of momentum. Also Magic Bounce stops Parting shot and Z Parting Shot so don't waste it
If Aegi is the only Ghost-and your opponent has Sturdinja, try to preserve it so it can switch into Sturdinja.

team options
Fairy types: Get rid of the thing about activating Poison Heal. Some Fairy-types don't use that and can check Darks just fine. I.E.: Rocky Helmet Audino-mega
Add imposter to help scout for coverage
*Prankster haze users can beat Shell Smash + Power Trip sweepers that defeat Aegi
* Get rid of the thing about fire moves with Mold Breaker. Super uncommon. Actually if you run Safety Goggles and Defog with Aegi you can switch into moldbreaker Spore, and sometimes Defog hazards.
More reliable hazard control like MB or a second spinner/defogger is required, especially since Defog has less pp than rocks, so it will just get pp stalled out of defogs without help.

Prankster set
the set moves should be: Haze, Shore Up, U-Turn, Destiny Bond / Parting Shot. I'm not sure why you would want to forgo healing like you implied was viable.

moves
A lot of this stuff is kind of obvious but I guess keep it in. I'd put Encore last, because it is definitely super prediction reliant, and can't stop Dark-type sweepers, so they get a free setup turn on Aegi.

set details
Why do you use a Sassy instead of a Relaxed nature? What Special attacker KOs do you avoid?

usage tips
*Destiny bond bullet: Say that destiny bond followed by U-Turn gives Aegi two turns of Destiny Bond; use to your advantage.

team options
Works on offensive teams that need a switchin to MMX and shell smash sweepers, or as an improof to one of your own setup sweepers with dbond or encore.
Triage Mega Rayquaza with Secret Sword is not a set that people use.

other options
*Regen vest: I have never seen this used anywhere because it is purely outclassed.
*Levitate: also bad. Thousand Arrows is everywhere, and even with the prevalence of Flash Fire most wallbreakers run a move that can hit Aegi supereffectively, such as Moongeist or Blue Flare.

checks and counters
Super effective coverage: Well, obviously, if Aegislash gets hit supereffectively it gets countered or checked by mons that can do that. I wouldn't lump all four of those types into one bullet like that. Ghost-types, Dark-types, Ground-types, and Fire-types if not running FF are all quite different for the most part.

"Last edited: Dec 15, 2018" man really gave up on the day count L

first off, set order should be prank>ff with bounce in other options

overview

*It allows Aegislash to check common -ate users like Mega Diancie and Kyurem-B and powerful wallbreakers like Mega Mewtwo Y and Mega Rayquaza.
aegi isn't a very good check to these guys alone because they pretty much always carry coverage for him. say that it resists their stab so it can switch in to some extent and threaten with prank dbond/ff offering immunity to some coverage (vs like vcreate diancie).
*Ghost typing also gives it an edge over other Steel-types as being immune to Fighting- and Normal-type attacks, allowing it to check Pokemon like Mega Mewtwo X and Endeavor Shedinja.
just say shedinja, no need to specify endeavor
*Aegislash is weak to several common types like Ground, Fire, Dark and Ghost. This allows Pokemon like Mega Mewtwo X or Mega Diancie to hit it super effectively with their coverage moves like Knock Off or Thousand Arrows.
state the implications of this, it means that aegi doesnt completely wall these mons like you might want it to
*Because of its weakness to common utility moves like Knock Off and Spectral Thief and powerful Dark-type moves like Power Trip, which is extremely common on defensive Pokemon and physical setup sweepers respectively, it faces stiff competition from other Steel-types like Celesteela and Registeel, which can wall most Mega Mewtwo Y and Mega Rayquaza sets for the former and has better bulk in trade for a Fighting-type weakness for the latter.
first off, say that weaknesses to knock/yveltal revdance/spectral can leave it unable to wall common defensive mons like gira, ttar, yveltal, even ogre unlike other steels (this deserves a standalone point i think). secondly specify how regi is bulkier while steela can better handle diancie and co even with coverage thanks to ground immunity.

flash fire

move 1: Topsy-Turvy / Spectral Thief
move 2: Shore Up
move 3: U-turn / Baton Pass / Parting Shot
move 4: Defog / Entrainment
item: Safety Goggles / Darkinium Z / Rocky Helmet
ability: Flash Fire
nature: Sassy
ivs: 0 Spe
evs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SpA / 252 SpD
i agree with skylake that wisp should be slashed slot 4, but i think it should be entrain first, then wisp, then defog. aegi just isn't a very good defog user because it matches up quite poorly vs defensive mons, it's better off having wisp or entrain to better check offensive mons.

moves

*Topsy-Turvy is an alternative method of stopping setup sweepers, as it can turn all positive stat changes to negative.
how does this help you? explain
*Entrainment can be used instead of Defog to cripple Pokemon that rely heavily on their abilities like Poison Heal, Magic Bounce, Contrary and -ate
explain what specific mons this helps aegi check
*Rapid Spin is an alternative to Defog, but it leaves Aegislash unable to remove hazards against common Ghost-types like Giratina or opposing Aegislash
dont even mention this, its bad
*Will-O-Wisp can be used to cripple physical attackers like as Mega Mewtwo X and Regigigas, as well as burn Poison Heal users, making them unable to activate their abilities
a couple other benefits of wisp are that it gets some decent chip damage on even mons that dont mind it much, like mmy, and it isnt bad for aegi if it gets bounced back because you have immunity thanks to ff. also, regigigas isn't a very prominent physical attacker, it only really runs ph

set details

*Safety Goggles allows Aegislash to be immune to Spore, allowing it to safely check Pokemon with Spore like Triage Mega Rayquaza, Regigigas, and Xerneas without fear of being put to sleep.
but aegi loses to all three of these bar magma storm xern/no coverage mray. a better example here is contrary spore mega sceptile, which really relies on spore to beat aegi.

also mention what helmet does for the set

usage tips

Literally all I get from here is what not to do with Aegislash. When can I actually use Aegislash? How to get it in? On which targets can I hard switch it in and which ones can I only use it to check things? How long to stay in?
basically just look at what mons are potentially walled by aegi at preview, like blaziken, mg diancie, magma xern, and others. keep aegi healthy because it needs to be pretty high hp to consistently come in on these mons. if it's not needed to check any of these guys, you can get funky with slow uturns, scouting out abilities with entrainment, and wisping random guys

team options

*Physical walls like Zygarde-C or Fur Coat Chansey can take strong physical attacks from the likes of Primal Groudon or Mega Garchomp for Aegislash. Zygarde-C and Giratina can help with Fire-type moves with Mold Breaker.
FC CHANSEY IS NOT A PHYSICAL WALL, mention mons like gira and dusk mane alongside zyg c. mold breaker fire moves arent really worth mentioning here i dont think
*Mega Mewtwo Y or Mega Rayquaza without Earth Power or Moongeist Beam is a wonderful wallbreaker for a teammate, as it is imposterproofed by Aegislash.
this is stupid are you trying to run a mon walled by steels? imo specify mons that rely on fire/fighting coverage, like no pblades pdon, blaziken, and certain mmx sets.

prankster

name: Prankster
move 1: Haze
move 2: Shore Up
move 3: U-turn / Parting Shot
move 4: Entrainment
item: Safety Goggles / Darkinium Z
ability: Prankster
nature: Sassy
ivs: 0 Spe
evs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SpA / 252 SpD
entrain shouldnt be the only last slot here. dbond topsy encore are all options as well. hierarchy imo is dbond>topsy>entrain>encore. also not sure about darkinium z on prankster because parting shot is pretty easy to block

moves

*Entrainment removes abilities such as Normalize, Poison Heal, Regenerator and -ate (is this correct? Can QC lmk, ty), and helps the team to check them.
normalize???????????????? also yeah -ate is correct
*Parting Shot is an option over U-turn to prevent Rocky Helmet chip and lowers the foe's attack and special attack by one stage; however, it is blocked by Soundproof and Imposter users, as well as raising the stats of those Pokemon with Contrary. Unlike U-turn, it moves before most moves, so Aegislash will lose the role of being a slow pivot.
i feel like you can go more in depth than "lowers atk/spa by one stage", this can be really useful vs guys that force out aegi, specifically wallbreakers, because the drops mean that the guy you go into has a much easier time handling the wallbreaker
*Spore can be used to put incoming foes to sleep, but it will leave Aegislash even more vulnerable to Poison Heal and Magic Bounce users.
remove this, it doesnt work vs a lot of things (dazzling, goggles, dark types, ph, bounce) and aegi really doesn't make good use of the sleep turns

set details

*Safety Goggles prevent Spore from crippling Aegislash, rendering it a sitting duck against setup sweepers.
say "letting it beat setup sweepers that use spore" or something similar
*The ability Prankster gives Aegislash priority status moves, and is useful for stopping setup sweepers with Prankster Haze, healing up with Shore Up before the foe attacks and removing and scouting abilities with Contrary.
assuming you mean entrainment here. prankster parting shot/dbond are also worth mentioning here imo (parting shot is significant because even though you dont get the slow pivot, you dont have to get hit)

usage tips

*Although Aegislash is weak to common coverage moves, it can usually take them assuming not too much boosts has been accumulated, so it can switch in directly and use Haze.
isnt a super effective coverage move going to kill aegi even without that many boosts? pretty much ph xern coverage at +1 destroys this mon
*Bring Aegislash in on Pokemon it walls like Xerneas or Dialga so their movesets can be scouted beforehand.
dialga is a great example of a mon you bring aegi in on but man this mon just does not wall xern
*When running Parting Shot, scout for opposing Magic Bounce, Contrary or Soundproof users, as they appreciate the free turn or the boosts from it.
what do you mean "scout for"? what are you gonna do if they have one of these? say that soundproof requires that you double out if you wanna maintain momentum although bounce forces them out too (good with hazards), contrary is only bad news if u dont have a dude who can handle it. dark types are also a big problem because you gotta double out on them too
*If running Encore or Destiny Bond, make sure your prediction is correct, as both have low PP and give the opponent a free turn if used on the wrong turn. Destiny Bond will not stack, so make sure you use it only when a setup sweeper cannot be checked by the rest of Aegislash's teammates.
i think youre overrating how risky encore is to use. prank means that you know what move youre encoring them into. also what do you mean by "dbond will not stack"

team options

*Frail attackers like Pheromosa and Mega Mewtwo Y appreciate foes having their attack and special attack lowered, so they will not take too much damage while switching in.
ok phero is NOT taking advantage of guys with less attacking stats because they still do a lot, i guess maybe that works for the ph set but in the majority of cases you prefer uturn for getting him in. walls and offensive ph users like regi/xern take advantage of parting shot much better

other options

*A RegenVest set is viable, but due to Aegislash's weaknesses to common Dark- and Ghost-type coverage, it is rather outclassed but other RegenVest users like Registeel or Celesteela, with the former having higher bulk and the latter having an immunity to Ground.
ok but what does this even accomplish that aegis other sets dont already

add bounce + mold breaker

checks + counters

**Super effective coverage**: Aegislash is weak to common types like Ground, Fire, Ghost, and Dark. Although the problem with its Ground- and Fire-type weakness can be alleviated by running Flash Fire or Levitate, Thousand Arrows is still able to hit it for super effective damage. Ghost- and Dark-types are also common coverage in
maybe say "aegi can run flash fire or levitate to cover fire/ground moves, but this takes up its ability slot and it has to choose only one". also whats goin on with that sentence at the end
**Primal Groudon**: Primal Groudon is capable of threatening Aegislash with its powerful STAB no matter what set it runs. It is immune to Will-O-Wisp and can heal off damage with Synthesis. However, it cannot set up Shell Smash or set up in front of Aegislash or risk having the boosts removed.
but none of the sets have spectral thief??? if youre talking about haze thats a TERRIBLE way of handling pdon
**Choice Band Wallbreakers**: Wallbreakers with Choice Band like Mega Rayquaza and Kartana are capable of 2HKOing Aegislash with a powerful V-Create or Thousand Arrows. They also lure Aegislash out, as it checks their other sets.
just say "strong wallbreakers" because specs also works here. cb vcreate is gonna ohko not 2hko for sure. say that even resisted stuff like specs ray boomburst is gonna do a bunch which is bad news.

no stamp yet, want to make sure everything is order before 1/3

couple more things but i think its improved a lot

ff
*Spectral Thief steals boosts from setup sweepers like Mega Mewtwo Y or Mega Rayquaza.
say that it also does decent damage esp vs targets weak to it like mewtwos
*Aegislash can use U-turn on incoming threats to pivot out.
aegi usually does best clicking uturn when its in vs a mon that cant threaten it, like cb blaziken locked into vcreate or something. also how does pivoting out help you
prankster
Parting Shot is an option over U-turn to prevent Rocky Helmet chip and lowers the foe's offensive stats as it switches out. This is especially useful against powerful wallbreakers like Adaptability Mega Garchomp or Sheer Force Mega Mewtwo Y, as it allows Aegislash's teammates to deal with them more easily. However, it is blocked by Soundproof and Imposter users
imposter doesnt block prank parting shot, mention dark types instead
*If running Destiny Bond, make sure your prediction is correct, as both have low PP and give the opponent a free turn if used on the wrong turn. Destiny Bond will fail if it was executed on the previous turn, so make sure you use it only when a setup sweeper cannot be checked by the rest of Aegislash's teammates.
the strat with aegi is to click prank dbond, then uturn out, so missing the predict usually isnt too big of a deal unless you flat out get 6-0d by the mon unless you dbond them. the bigger risk here is sacking aegi which can make other setup sweepers really annoying to check

lookin good, qc 1/3

I am not entirely sure if the Overview goes through enough information to differentiate Aegislash from other Steel-types like Registeel or Celesteela. No mention about spinblocking / being neutrally hit by only one type / checking -ate & shed at the same time (well not sure about shed but sorta, since it acts as an endeavor deterrent). I'd add low base HP stat that contributes to its mediocre-at best bulk. The bulk means specs mega ray / Spikes are going to be annoying because mega ray uses the most spammable attack to 2HKO Aegislash Spikes may turn 3HKOs into 2HKOs and even if that's not the case that will worsen problems with Aegislash having to press recovery majority of the time. Not being a reliable Regigigas check as a Steel sucks too. But it is better at handling physical contrary compared to other steels because of that ghost typing too.

This 'mon also hates Pursuit. Even when Aegislash is healthy it is a shaky check to stuff it switches into, so if the likes of Mega Tyranitar catches it, it's basically dead as a defensive mon.

Just my two cents.

alright let's get this done
[OVERVIEW]
*Aegislash is a great defensive wall in Balanced Hackmons, having high mixed defenses and a large number of useful resistances, being hit neutrally by 2 types only. (excuse my wording, but this is a very odd way to flex. It's better to say it has 9 resistances)
*It allows Aegislash to switch into common -ate users like Mega Diancie and Kyurem-B and powerful wallbreakers like Mega Mewtwo Y and Mega Rayquaza to a certain extent, as they always bring coverage moves that can hit Aegislash super effectively. However, Aegislash can threaten them with a Prankster Destiny Bond or utilize Flash Fire to take on coverage moves like V-Create or Blue Flare. (again, a little weird here. You're showcasing its strengths - yes it can switch into wallbreakers, and then say it can even cover its weaknesses with abilities like Flash Fire, or force exchanges with Prankster DBond)
*A Ghost typing also gives it an edge over other Steel-types, as Aegislash is immune to Fighting- and Normal-type attacks, allowing it to check Pokemon like Mega Mewtwo X and Shedinja. It also allows Aegislash to perform as a spinblocker.
*If it runs Flash Fire, Aegislash is also a great check to physical Contrary users like Mega Blaziken and Mega Mewtwo X, as it is immune to Superpower and V-Create.

*Aegislash is weak to several common types like Ground, Fire, Dark, and Ghost. This means it is unable to completely wall Psychic- and Fairy-types like Mega Mewtwo X or Mega Diancie, which can hit it super effectively with their coverage moves like Knock Off or Thousand Arrows. (here is where you stress it can't completely wall the -ates. Say something like it's weak to ground and fire and can't cover both at once)
*This also leaves it vulnerable to Pursuit trapping from the likes of Yveltal and Mega Tyranitar, leaving Aegislash with less health as it switches out, allowing foes to break through it much more easily.
*Because of its weakness to common utility moves like Knock Off and Spectral Thief, it cannot wall common defensive Pokemon like Giratina, Yveltal and even Primal Kyogre, which can be achieved by other Steel-types. Therefore, it faces stiff competition from other Steel-types like Registeel and Celesteela, with the former having better bulk and the latter being able to better handle Psychic- and Fairy-types with the combination of an immunity to Ground-type moves and Primordial Sea or Flash Fire. They are also able to handle Regigigas better than Aegislash, as they are not weak to Knock Off or Spectral Thief.
*Its low HP stat also affects its ability to effectively check powerful wallbreakers like Choice Specs Mega Rayquaza or Sheer Force Mega Mewtwo Y.
*Aegislash also dislikes any entry hazards, mainly Spikes, as they turn 3HKOs into potential 2HKOs, for example Boomburst from Choice Specs Mega Rayquaza or Earth Power from Sheer Force Mega Sceptile.
*Its speed is also higher than common pivots like Registeel and Mega Audino, so it will be less effective at providing momentum against these Pokemon, as it will go before them.

Moves
========
*Spectral Thief steals boosts from setup sweepers like Mega Mewtwo Y or Mega Rayquaza. It also does decent damage to Pokemon that are weak to it, like Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y.
*Topsy-Turvy is an alternative method of stopping setup sweepers, as it can turn all positive stat changes to negative. It improves Aegislash's matchup against Normal-types like Regigigas and Contrary users like Mega Sceptile. However, it cannot hit through Magic Bounce or Substitute.
*Shore Up provides Aegislash with a reliable recovery method.
*Aegislash can use U-turn on Pokemon that can't threaten it like Choice Band Mega Blaziken locked into V-Create or Dialga as they switch out to pivot out. It prevents Aegislash from giving a free turn for Pokemon like Primal Groudon to gain a free switch against you.
*Baton Pass should be used with Spectral Thief, as it can pass along stolen stats. However, it will also pass Leech Seed and any negative stat drop. It is also stopped by Taunt.
*Parting Shot is a good way of pivoting out while also lowering the foe's offensive stats, although it is stopped by Taunt, Magic Bounce and Soundproof users like Dialga or Zygarde-C.
(move explanation order should match set listing order. Make it entrain, wow, then defog) *Defog can take advantage of Aegislash's bulk to removes entry hazards safely for the team
*Entrainment can be used instead of Defog to cripple Pokemon that rely heavily on their abilities like Poison Heal, Magic Bounce, Contrary, and -ate like Primal Kyogre, Mega Sceptile, and Mega Diancie.
*Will-O-Wisp can be used to cripple physical attackers like as Mega Mewtwo X and Pheromosa, as well as burn Poison Heal users that have not activated their Toxic Orb. It can also be used to chip away at Pokemon like Mega Mewtwo Y and scout for Magic Bounce users, as Aegislash is immune to Will-O-Wisp.
*Anchor Shot can be used over U-turn to trap and KO Fairy-types like Mega Audino or Mega Diancie.

Set Details
========
*Sassy nature with 0 Speed investment make Aegislash's U-turn as slow as possible.
*Flash Fire removes Aegislash's Fire-type weakness, allowing it to take Blue Flare or V-Create from Kyurem-White, Mega Mewtwo Y and Mega Rayquaza
*Safety Goggles allows Aegislash to be immune to Spore, allowing it to safely check Pokemon with Spore like Triage Mega Rayquaza, Regigigas, and Xerneas without fear of being put to sleep. (I don't like these examples. Triage MRay often runs coverage to beat you, Regigigas has knock off, and xern usually runs LKiss. A better example would be like Contrary Mega Sceptile and ContraRay.)
*Darkinium Z can be used in conjunction with Parting Shot to restore an incoming ally's HP to full. It also protects Aegislash from Trick and reduces damage from the first Knock Off. However, it can easily be taken advantage of when asleep.
*Rocky Helmet can chip down Pokemon using U-turn and punish -ate users with Fake Out and Extreme Speed.

Usage Tips
========
*Use Team Preview to identify Pokemon that Aegislash can potentially wall, like Mega Blaziken, Magic Guard Mega Diancie, or Xerneas with Fire-type coverage, and keep it healthy throughout the match to check these Pokemon safely.
*If Aegislash is not needed to wall these Pokemon, use U-turn liberally to gain momentum, scout for abilities using Entrainment, and chip down opposing Pokemon with Will-O-Wisp.
*Make sure to scout for any coverage moves from Pokemon that Aegislash should check, like Earth Power or Moongeist Beam from Mega Mewtwo Y and Mega Rayquaza, or you risk Aegislash being severely weakened.
*Be careful when switching into other defensive Pokemon like Mega Audino or Solgaleo, as they may knock Aegislash's Safety Goggles off, affecting its ability to check Pokemon with Spore. Using Darkinium Z also has this impact, so scout for Spore when using it as well.
*If using Topsy-Turvy, be aware of setup sweepers with Magic Bounce, as you give them a free turn to set up and lose a lot of momentum in the process.
*If using Parting Shot, scout for Contrary and Soundproof users, as they gain boosts from it and block it respectively.
*Use U-turn liberally if Aegislash has a decent amount of health, otherwise, use Shore Up to keep it healthy enough to check Pokemon like Mega Mewtwo Y or Mega Rayquaza safely.

Team Options
========
(I think it would be useful to mention at the beginning that Aegi has very predictable, linear weaknesses that are easy to cover and synergize with)
*Fairy-type Pokemon such as Xerneas or Mega Audino helps Aegislash against Dark-types such as Yveltal or Mega Tyranitar, however, make sure Poison Heal has been activated if using it, or they will be crippled throughout the match (clarify that you mean for switching into knock off--otherwise they have nothing to worry about)
*An alternative anti-setup Pokemon such as Prankster Haze from Zygarde-C or Unaware users like Mega Audino and Mega Gyarados is useful, as Aegislash invites setup sweepers which are able to force Aegislash out like Yveltal, and if running Topsy-Turvy, Magic Bounce setup sweepers.
*A check to Mega Gengar like Yveltal or Primal Kyogre is necessary, as Aegislash invites in Mega Gengar and gives it a free turn to set up if Aegislash did not U-turn on it
*Physical walls like Zygarde-C or Giratina can take strong physical attacks from the likes of Primal Groudon or Mega Garchomp for Aegislash. (expand this to ground moves in general)
*Pokemon that rely on Fire- and Fighting-type coverage like Mega Blaziken, Mega Sceptile or Primal Groudon (this is a mistake, pdon doesn't not use ground coverage. say physical contrary v-c and superpower users) without Ground-type coverage can be used as teammates which are Imposter-proof by Aegislash.

Moves
========
*Prankster Haze can stop any setup sweeper, as it cannot be blocked by Queenly Majesty nor Dark-type's immunity to Prankster moves. (move encore description up here)
*Shore Up recovers 50% of Aegislash's health, improving its longevity.
*U-turn prevents Aegislash from being a sitting duck against Pokemon it cannot check by pivoting out from an unfavorable matchup. (can't be blocked)
*Encore is an option over Haze to lock setup sweepers into their boosting moves; however, it is very prediction-reliant and will lose a lot of momentum if predicted wrongly or even allow the foe to KO Aegislash. (it's also useful for general disruption. I wouldn't say that Encore is comparable to haze; it's really dependent on what the team needs)
*Parting Shot is an option over U-turn to prevent Rocky Helmet chip and lowers the foe's offensive stats as it switches out. This is especially useful against powerful wallbreakers like Adaptability Mega Garchomp or Sheer Force Mega Mewtwo Y, as it allows Aegislash's teammates to deal with them more easily. However, it is blocked by Soundproof and Dark-types, (making Aegi more susceptible to being pursuit trapped) as well as raising the stats of those Pokemon with Contrary. Unlike U-turn, it moves before most moves, so Aegislash will lose the role of being a slow pivot.
*Destiny Bond can be used to put an emergency stop to a sweep, however, it will cost the loss of Aegislash in the game and may put you at a disadvantage for losing a utility Pokemon on your team. (topsy here)
*Entrainment removes abilities such as Poison Heal, Regenerator and -ate, and helps the team to check them.
*Topsy Turvy can reverse stat changes of setup sweepers like Contrary Mega Mewtwo Y or Xerneas, however, it will worsen Aegislash's matchup against Pokemon with Magic Bounce and Dazzling and Dark-type setup sweepers like Yveltal.

Set Details
========
*Safety Goggles prevent Spore from crippling Aegislash, letting it beat setup sweepers that use Spore.
*The ability Prankster gives Aegislash priority status moves, and is useful for stopping setup sweepers with Prankster Haze, healing up with Shore Up before the foe attacks and removing and scouting abilities with Entrainment.
*Prankster Destiny Bond is also useful in putting a stop to setup sweepers that threaten to 6-0 to the team.
*A Sassy nature with 0 Speed investment allows Aegislash to fit the role as a slow pivot and prevent Core Enforcer from removing its ability. However, it will not affect Parting Shot, as it is boosted by Prankster, but it allows Aegislash to pivot out without taking a hit
*Alternatively Darkinium Z can prevent Trick and reduce Knock Off damage. It should be used with Parting Shot to heal the incoming Pokemon by 100% when using Z-Parting Shot. (idk about this. prankster z shot is a lot easier to block than FF z shot. Also, the mon being brought in will have to take a hit after being healed, which kind of takes out the point of doing it. I guess keep it but qualify the mention)

Usage Tips
========
*Bring Aegislash in on Pokemon it walls like Dialga so their movesets can be scouted beforehand.
*Despite the mentioned advantages, it is best to switch Aegislash through a slow pivot move or predicted boosting moves from the foe so as to reduce damage taken to improve Aegislash's general longevity and effectiveness.
*When running Parting Shot, scout for opposing Magic Bounce, Contrary or Soundproof users. Magic Bounce will give opponents a free switch, although it is beneficial for hazard-stacking teams by chipping away foes. Contrary users will gain +1 Attack and Special Attack when hit by Soundproof, (parting shot, you mean) forcing you to deal with them immediately, while Soundproof users force you to double switch (double switch isnt the right term, it's direct switch) to maintain momentum. Dark-types also force you to double switch, (same) as they are immune to (and therefore block) Prankster Parting Shot.
(mention how Aegi has a slew of support options to deal with opposing setup sweepers, so it's important to choose the right one. For example, sometimes it's okay to wait a few turns before hazing or topsy turvying, and prioritize Entrainment-ing the PH / contrary user or encoring, letting them rack up boosts, and then turning the boosts around with topsy)
*If the foe used a setup move last turn, use Encore to give yourself a free turn, as you know what move you will be locking them into. This forces them to set up again or switch out.
*The risk of taking out a foe with Destiny Bond is making other setup sweepers on the opponent's team harder to deal with. Therefore, identify if you can take down the foe with an alternative method if Aegislash is still useful in checking certain Pokemon in the opponent's team
*Even if the opponent did not KO you while you have Destiny Bond activated, you can simply U-turn out to prevent a loss of momentum. Therefore, a wrong prediction will not usually be too big of a deal, unless the setup sweeper is able to sweep through your entire team if it does not get taken down by Destiny Bond.
*Aegislash is pressed to check common threats like Mega Rayquaza, Regigigas and Dialga, so keep it healthy throughout the match if those threats are still present.

Team Options
========
*Physically defensive walls like Fur Coat Zygarde-C or Giratina form an amazing defensive core with Aegislash, being able to take powerful physical attacks like V-Create or Precipice Blades for Aegislash and helps Aegislash take on Pokemon like Mega Tyranitar and Mega Garchomp.
*Mega Audino is an exceptional partner for Aegislash, with Aegislash taking Fighting-, Poison- and Steel- type attacks for Mega Audino and Mega Audino taking Ghost- and Dark-type attacks. Aegislash can also help Mega Audino with removing entry hazards, especially if Mega Audino is not running Poison Heal.
*Prankster moves do not work on Dark-types, so Fairy-types that take advantage of them like Xerneas or Mega Diancie are good Pokemon to take advantage of them.
*Attackers like Xerneas and Mega Mewtwo Y appreciate foes having their attack and special attack lowered, so they will not take too much damage while switching in.
*Sweepers or wallbreakers that are Imposter-proof by Aegislash like Triage Mega Rayquaza with Secret Sword or Choice Band Mega Mewtwo X serve as good teammates.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
*Magic Bounce is an option over Flash Fire, but it is better used on other Steel-types like Regigigas, which has superior bulk and a better matchup against (bulky pokemon, as theyre the ones using the support moves you want to bounce in the first place) Pokemon like Regigigas, Giratina, and Yveltal as it does not have a weakness to Dark- and Ghost-types.
*A RegenVest set is viable, (with moves like spectral, uturn, nuzzle, core enforcer, knock off etc) as it lets Aegislash check special attackers like Mega Diancie or Mega Mewtwo Y better than its other sets. However, due to Aegislash's weaknesses to common Dark- and Ghost-type coverage, it is rather outclassed but other RegenVest users like Registeel or Celesteela, (Necroz-DM is a better example here as Celesteela is rarely AV) with the former having higher bulk and the latter having (more of an offensive presence) an immunity to Ground. (move this to the very end of this section as it is the least viable of them all)
*Mold Breaker Aegislash can Pursuit trap Shedinja and even set up entry hazards without fearing Magic Bounce. (it can also parting shot without fear) However, it has no other use other than the said ones.
*Levitate can be used to alleviate Aegislash's Ground-type weakness and better check Pokemon with Ground-type coverage like Earth Power from Mega Rayquaza or Mega Mewtwo Y or Precipice Blades from Mega Diancie. It also reduces damages from grounded hazards, allowing Aegislash to remove entry hazards more easily. (however, flash fire is better as fire coverage is more common, and lets you beat contrary v-create)

Checks and Counters
===================
**Super Effective Coverage**: Aegislash is weak to common types like Ground, Fire, Ghost, and Dark. Although the problem with its Ground- and Fire-type weakness can be alleviated by running Flash Fire or Levitate respectively, it takes up its ability slot and it has to choose between one.

**Primal Groudon**: Primal Groudon is capable of threatening Aegislash with its powerful STAB no matter what set it runs. It is immune to Will-O-Wisp and can heal off damage with Synthesis.

**Powerful Wallbreakers**: Wallbreakers like Choice Band Kartana, Tinted Lens Mega Mewtwo X, or Choice Specs Mega Rayquaza can threaten to 2HKO or even OHKO Aegislash with sheer power.

**Setup Sweepers**: Setup sweepers that naturally force Aegislash out like Yveltal and Mega Tyranitar can use the free turn to set up and continue to weaken your team unless Aegislash has Prankster Haze. (it's better to specify Dark-types here. It's not that theyre setup sweepers that lets them win - the point of Aegi is it can stop setup sweepers - they win because they are Dark types) - in particular, they can trap Aegi, take advantage of it for knock off, generally are not hurt by spore, are completely immune to prankster attacks. For example, yveltal and ttar can easily take advantage of non haze prankster aegi

Although they usually bring coverage moves that can hit Aegislash super effectively, it can threaten them with a Prankster Destiny Bond or utilize Flash Fire to take on coverage moves like V-Create and Blue Flare. Aegislash's Ghost typing also gives it an edge over other Steel-types, as its immunity to Fighting- and Normal-type attacks allows it to switch into Pokemon like Mega Mewtwo X and Shedinja and to perform the role of a spinblocker. If it runs Flash Fire, Aegislash is also a great check to physical Contrary users like Mega Blaziken and Mega Mewtwo X, as it is immune to Superpower and V-Create. the issue is that mmx sometimes goes mixed and honestly contra mblaze isnt a good set, i'd just remove this in general because it can't reliably take on any contras other than blaze (which isn't that good or relevant)

However, Aegislash is weak to several common types like Ground, Fire, Dark, and Ghost. This means it is unable to completely wall Psychic- and Fairy-types like Mega Mewtwo X or Mega Diancie, which can hit it super effectively with their coverage moves like Knock Off or Thousand Arrows. This also means it cannot completely wall -ate users, as it cannot cover both its weaknesses to Ground and Fire at the same time. Its weakness to Dark also leaves it vulnerable to Pursuit trapping from the likes of Yveltal and Mega Tyranitar, leaving Aegislash with low health as it switches out, allowing foes to break through it much more easily. Because of its weakness to common utility moves like Knock Off and Spectral Thief, it cannot wall common defensive Pokemon like Giratina, Yveltal, and Primal Kyogre, which can be achieved by other Steel-types. Therefore, it faces stiff competition in this aspect from other Steel-types like Registeel and Celesteela, with the former having better bulk and the latter being able to better handle Psychic- and Fairy-types and even Primal Groudon with the combination of an immunity to Ground-type moves and Primordial Sea or Flash Fire mention how both have situationally better typings as well. They are also able to handle Regigigas better than Aegislash, as they are not weak to Knock Off or Spectral Thief. Its you mean aegis here right low HP stat also affects say hinders its ability to effectively check powerful wallbreakers like Choice Specs Mega Rayquaza or Sheer Force Mega Mewtwo Y. Aegislash dislikes entry hazards, mainly Spikes, as they turn 3HKOs into potential 2HKOs, for example, Boomburst from Choice Specs Mega Rayquaza or Earth Power from Sheer Force Mega Sceptile can you come up with a more relevant example? sheer force sceptile isnt a set. Its speed is also higher than common pivots like Registeel and Mega Audino, so it will be less effective at providing momentum against these Pokemon, as it will go before them.

Moves

Spectral Thief steals boosts from setup sweepers like Mega Mewtwo Y mmy isnt the best example, go for smth more relevant or Mega Rayquaza. It also does decent damage to Pokemon that are weak to it, like Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y. Topsy-Turvy is an alternative move to stop setup sweepers, as it can reverse all stat changes. It improves Aegislash's matchup against Normal-type setup sweepers like Regigigas and Contrary users like Mega Sceptile. It is also stopped by Taunt. talk about how it can sometimes make imposterproofing more difficult too Entrainment is used to cripple Pokemon that rely heavily on their abilities like Poison Heal, Magic Bounce, Contrary, and -ate like Primal Kyogre, Mega Sceptile, and Mega Diancie mention regenerator too, can work situationally. Will-O-Wisp can be used over Entrainment to cripple physical attackers like as Mega Mewtwo X and Pheromosa, as well as burn Poison Heal users that have not activated their Toxic Orb.

A Sassy nature with 0 Speed investment makes Aegislash's U-turn as slow as possible. Flash Fire removes Aegislash's Fire-type weakness, allowing it to take Blue Flare or V-Create from Kyurem-White, Mega Mewtwo Y, and Mega Rayquaza mention mega blaziken before all of these. Safety Goggles allows Aegislash to be immune to Spore, allowing it to safely check Pokemon that use Spore like Contrary Mega Rayquaza and Mega Sceptile. Darkinium Z can be used in conjunction with Parting Shot to restore an incoming ally's HP to full. It also protects Aegislash from Trick and reduces damage from Knock Off. However, it can be easily taken advantage of by putting it to sleep this sentence reads ambiguously, specify aegi's vulnerable to sleep. talk about how mbounce sucks too as well as losing the opportunity to use anotehr z move in the actual game. Rocky Helmet can chip down Pokemon using U-turn and punish -ate users with Fake Out and Extreme Speed.

Usage Tips
========
You should use Team Preview to identify Pokemon that Aegislash can potentially wall, like Mega Blaziken, Magic Guard Mega Diancie, Dialga, or Xerneas, and keep it healthy throughout the match to check these Pokemon safely. If Aegislash is not needed to wall these Pokemon, use U-turn liberally to gain momentum, scout for abilities using Entrainment, and chip down opposing Pokemon with Will-O-Wisp. Make sure to scout for any coverage moves from Pokemon that Aegislash should say would otherwise check, like Earth Power or Moongeist Beam from Mega Mewtwo Y and Mega Rayquaza, or you risk Aegislash being severely weakened. You should be careful when switching into other defensive Pokemon like Mega Audino or Solgaleo, as they may knock its Safety Goggles off, affecting its ability to check Pokemon with Spore. also sthief etc Using Darkinium Z also has this impact, so scout for Spore when using it as well. very imprecise wording here, elucidate what you mean. If Aegislash is running Topsy-Turvy, be aware of setup sweepers with Magic Bounce and substitute (more common than mbounce setup), as you give them a free turn to set up and lose a lot of momentum in the process. If Parting Shot is the chosen pivot move, scout for Contrary and Soundproof users, as they gain boosts from it and block it respectively. Use U-turn liberally if Aegislash has a decent amount of health, otherwise, use Shore Up to keep it healthy enough to check Pokemon like Mega Mewtwo Y or Mega Rayquaza safely.

Team Options
========
Pokemon that rely on Fire- and Fighting-type coverage like Mega Sceptile, Mega Blaziken, and physical Contrary users without Ground-type coverage can be used as teammates that are Imposter-proof by Aegislash.
why dont you talk about imposter once?
talk about a secondary -ate check
talk about pheal gigas answers, since aegi isnt that great at it
talk about kyogre answers, i havent seen that once
talk about offensive pokemon it can imposterproof

Moves
========
Prankster Haze can stop any setup sweeper remove any setup, is what you should say instead, as it cannot be blocked by Dazzling nor Dark-type's immunity to Prankster moves. Encore is an option over Haze to lock setup sweepers into their boosting moves and cause general disruption in the opponent's game plan; however, it is very prediction-reliant and will lose a lot of momentum if predicted wrongly or even allow the foe to KO Aegislash. talk about lack of pp too This moveslot should be tailored to what your team needs, a check to setup sweepers or a utility Prankster user. Shore Up recovers 50% of Aegislash's health, improving its longevity. U-turn prevents Aegislash from being a sitting duck against Pokemon it cannot check by pivoting out from an unfavorable matchup. It cannot be blocked by any means, unlike other pivot moves. However, it is blocked by Soundproof and Dark-types and bouncers and dazzling, making Aegi more susceptible to Pursuit trapping as well as raising the stats of those Pokemon with Contrary. Unlike U-turn, it moves before most moves, so Aegislash will lose the role of being a slow pivot. Destiny Bond can be used to put an emergency stop to a sweep, however, it will cost the loss of Aegislash in the game and may put you at a disadvantage for losing a utility Pokemon on your team. Topsy Turvy can reverse stat changes of setup sweepers like Contrary Mega Mewtwo Y or Xerneas, however, it will worsen Aegislash's matchup against Pokemon with Magic Bounce and Dazzling and Dark-type setup sweepers like Yveltal. Entrainment removes abilities such as Poison Heal, Regenerator and -ate, and helps the team to check them.

Set Details

Safety Goggles prevent Spore from crippling Aegislash, letting it beat setup sweepers that use Spore. Prankster gives Aegislash priority status moves, and is useful for stopping setup sweepers with Prankster Haze, healing up with Shore Up before the foe attacks and removing and scouting abilities with Entrainment. Prankster Destiny Bond is also useful in putting a stop to setup sweepers that threaten to 6-0 to the team. A Sassy nature with 0 Speed investment allows Aegislash to fit the role as a slow pivot and prevent Core Enforcer from removing its ability it doesnt actually do this, talk more specifically about what it does. However, it will not affect Parting Shot, as it is boosted by Prankster, but it allows Aegislash to pivot out without taking a hit. what? a -speed 0iv nature allows this, or does prankster? Aaplternatively Darkinium Z should used with Parting Shot to heal the incoming Pokemon by 100% when using Z-Parting Shot. It also can prevent Trick and reduce Knock Off damage. However, it is easily blocked by the common Magic Bounce users and Dark-types, as forces to the incoming ally to take a hit after being healed im really confused about what youre saying here in general tbh, elucidate.

Usage Tips
========
When running Parting Shot, scout for opposing Magic Bounce, Contrary or Soundproof users. Magic Bounce will give opponents a free switch, although it is beneficial for hazard-stacking teams by chipping away foes. Contrary users will gain +1 Attack and Special Attack when hit by Parting Shot, forcing you to deal with them immediately, while Soundproof users force you to direct switch to maintain momentum. Dark-types also force you to direct switch, as they can block Prankster Parting Shot and retaliate with pursuit. Aegislash has a lot of support options, so it is important to choose the right one. For example, you can prioritize using Entrainment on Poison Heal and Contrary users, forcing them to switch out; or Encore them into a boosting move and reverse their boosts around with Topsy-Turvy or remove them with Haze after they have accumulated several boosts, wasting their PP and forcing them out into another Pokemon to deal with Aegislash. this is a very confusing run on, i dont understand what you mean here at all. Of course, you shouldn't blindly put these utility options together, they should be tailored to bring the most to your team. are you talking about when to choose which move you put on the set (which belongs in moves) or what? If the foe used a setup move last turn, use Encore to give yourself a free turn, as you know what move you will be locking them into this is untrue, encore has really low pp. idk if you can usage tip it. This forces them to set up again or switch out. There is a risk of taking out a foe with Destiny Bond, which is making other setup sweepers on the opponent's team harder to deal with.

========
Prankster moves do not work on Dark-types, so Fairy-types that take advantage of them like Xerneas or Mega Diancie are good Pokemon to take advantage of them. Attackers like Xerneas and Mega Mewtwo Y appreciate foes having their attack and special attack lowered, so they will not take too much damage while switching in. Sweepers or wallbreakers that are Imposter-proof by Aegislash like Triage Mega Rayquaza with Secret Sword or Choice Band Mega Mewtwo X serve as good teammates.

Other Options
=============
Magic Bounce is an option over Flash Fire, but it is better used on other Steel-types like Regigigas, which has superior bulk and a better matchup against bulky Pokemon and setup sweepers like like Yveltal, Giratina, and Regigigas, as they do not have weaknesses to Dark- and Ghost-types. sorry did you just call giratina a setup sweeper Mold Breaker Aegislash can Pursuit trap Shedinja and even set up entry hazards without fearing Magic Bounce. It also reducesnegates damages from grounded hazards spikes, allowing Aegislash to remove entry hazards and switch in on pokemon more easily. However, since Fire-type coverage is more common, Flash Fire will be the better ability, as it also allows Aegislash to take on V-Create from Contrary users and Will-O-Wisp. A RegenVest set with moves like Spectral Thief, U-turn, Nuzzle, Core Enforcer and Knock Off is viable no, no, it's not, no no no, remove this, as it lets Aegislash check special attackers like Mega Diancie or Mega Mewtwo Y better than its other sets. However, due to Aegislash's weaknesses to common Dark- and Ghost-type coverage, it is rather outclassed but other RegenVest users like Registeel or Necrozma-DM, with the former having higher bulk and the latter having more offensive presence.

Checks and Counters
===================
**Super Effective Coverage**: Aegislash is weak to common types like Ground, Fire, Ghost, and Dark. Although the problem with its Ground- and Fire-type weakness can be alleviated by running Flash Fire or Levitate respectively, it takes up its ability slot and it has to choose between one. you dont mention common mons that use this

**Primal Groudon**: Primal Groudon is capable of threatening Aegislash with its powerful STAB no matter what set it runs. It is immune to Will-O-Wisp and can heal off damage with Synthesis. just say recovery synthesis isnt that great

**Powerful Wallbreakers**: Wallbreakers like Choice Band Kartana, Tinted Lens Mega Mewtwo X, or Choice Specs Mega Rayquaza can threaten to 2HKO or even OHKO Aegislash with sheer power. find better examples than kart and mmx as these are things its supposed to check

They are also immune to Prankster moves barring Haze and setup sweepers can take advantage of Prankster Aegislash without Haze to set up.

this analysis in general is very difficult to read and is actually missing a lot. if i'm being honest this should've been qc rejected 2 qcs ago, this simply isnt ready for being onsite and itll take an unreasonable amount of work to fix this.

im leaving the stuff i implemented in like 20 mins, i probably missed a lot though but this should be decent to start w. sorry, but im gonna have to qc reject 1/3

try to implement all of this and then we'll see from there.

I'm going to completely rewrite the analysis since the meta has shaken up considerably since the time of writing

Going to archive this for now since it hasn't been updated since July. xapx if you ever get around to rewriting this before Gen 7 analyses close shop feel free to just make a new post for aegi; it will have to start at 0/3, tho, since the metas shifted radically, assuming no one else has started aegi before you.
