At first glance Aggron-Mega seems like you are wasting a slot on your team. With 248 Ev's invested on it's HP and with a maxed Sp.Def. investment and calm nature it's bulk may be questioned.
However with the introduction of Body Press this gen, Aggron-Mega may be the most hard hitter physicall walls in the game. It's impressive baseline defense when combined with Filter, Iron Defense and one of the best defensive typings in the game, makes Aggron-Mega really hard to kill by physical attackers.
Rest brings him the ability to stay longer in the fight, and when combined with Sleep Talk you get the chance to either bolster your defences or hit back really hard.
As mentioned before, the star of the show as to be Body Press making Aggron-Mega not only a wall, but a potential wallbreaker.
This set strength relay on the rest of the team. You need a decent switch in against special wallbrekers/sweapers that can exploit Aggron-Mega mediocre bulk. Ghost types are also a problem.
Aggron-Mega can synergize well with Tapu Fini and Toxapex, as decent switch ins vs a bad matchup (ex: Heatran, Kyurem). Landarous-T is also a good teammate to set up Rocks and lower foes Atk (Also threatens Magnezone). Thanks to rest Aggron-Mega can switch in if you predict a status move.
Checks and Counters
As mentioned before the biggest threats in the metagme are Heatran, Kyurem and Magnezone.
Heatrean is a realy strong Sp. Atk. with acsess to fire type moves. You can risk a Body Press if you think you can survive more than 70% of your health.
The same thing happens with Kyurem, though Kyurem realays on Focus Blast to 2HKO you, so the risk is smaller to stay and use body press.
Magnezone can and will trap you and if you are resting or wit low hp it will not end well. Otherwise you hit him harder.
Bulky setupers like Garchomp-Mega, or Landarous-T with swords dance can be a big danger as well.
In conclusion, this set can shine if the meta realays heavaly on Physicall attackers
