NU Alolan Exeggutor Revamp

[OVERVIEW]

Alolan Exeggutor is an incredibly powerful wallbreaker, able to deal heavy amounts of neutral or super effective damage to the majority of the tier with its powerful STAB moves. In addition, Alolan Exeggutor can exploit defensive teams utilizing Pokemon such as Steelix, Slowbro, and Torterra due to its decent bulk and Dragon / Grass typing, which grants it resistances to Ground-, Water-, and Grass-type moves. While unimpressive on its own, Alolan Exeggutor's Speed when fully invested is just enough to outspeed a myriad of slower Pokemon such as Diancie, Vaporeon, Vikavolt, and Guzzlord, making it a massive threat to slower teams. However, Alolan Exeggutor is still incredibly slow overall, making it susceptible to revenge killers such as Passimian and Braviary. This in tandem with common weaknesses to Ice-, Fairy-, and Bug-type attacks makes Alolan Exeggutor vulnerable to the likes of Sneasel, Whimsicott, and Accelgor. Furthermore, despite having powerful moves, each individual attack is difficult to stay locked into; Draco Meteor and Leaf Storm's harsh Special Attack drop upon use is highly exploitable by setup sweepers such as Incineroar and Vivillon, whereas being locked into Flamethrower can allow threats such as Diancie to come in. Finally, Alolan Exeggutor has tight competition with Guzzlord due to the better defensive synergy Guzzlord provides for teams with its Dark / Dragon typing and its more useful ability in Beast Boost that lets it more easily snowball against defensive teams.

Moves
========

Draco Meteor is an incredibly powerful STAB move, hitting most Pokemon that don't resist it hard, but its steep stat reduction upon use and inability to hit prevalent Fairy-types such as Diancie and Whimsicott make it difficult to spam repeatedly. Leaf Storm is Alolan Exeggutor's Grass-type STAB attack, being just as powerful as Draco Meteor, and is notably able to OHKO specially defensive Diancie, but it also lowers Alolan Exeggutor's Special Attack, which can allow setup sweepers such as Incineroar and Braviary to take advantage of it. Flamethrower rounds off Alolan Exeggutor's coverage, dealing super effective damage to Pokemon that resist its STAB moves such as Steel-types like Klinklang and Silvally-Steel as well as Whimsicott. Giga Drain is Alolan Exeggutor's most consistent form of damage output due to its lack of a downside, serving as a recovery option that's able to heal off a lot of damage against targets such as Vaporeon.

Set Details
========

Maximum Special Attack investment topped with a Modest nature enables Alolan Exeggutor to be as powerful of a wallbreaker as possible. With maximum Speed investment, Alolan Exeggutor is able to outpace Pokemon up to uninvested base 75s such as Garbodor and Vaporeon. Frisk is Choice Specs Alolan Exeggutor's only viable ability, providing use in scouting for foes' items. Choice Specs allows Alolan Exeggutor to become much more threatening of a wallbreaker.

Usage Tips
========

Bring in Alolan Exeggutor whenever possible against defensive teams, as its wallbreaking capabilities are especially threatening to slower teams. Doing this frequently will enable Alolan Exeggutor's teammates to sweep much more easily. Pokemon such as Steelix, Torterra, and Palossand pose minimal threats to Alolan Exeggutor, and as such they can be used as a solid opportunity to fire off an attack. Rhydon and the aforementioned Steelix and Torterra are common Stealth Rock leads that can be easily exploited due to their poor Speed and weaknesses to Alolan Exeggutor's moves. Against offensive teams, switching in should be achieved by pivots, as this enables Alolan Exeggutor to gain the best matchup possible without taking excessive amounts of damage. Specific pivots such as Xatu and Passimian can be utilized to lure in Pokemon for Alolan Exeggutor to take advantage of such as Rhydon and Slowbro. Alolan Exeggutor can also directly switch into bulky Water-types like Slowbro and Pyukumuku, as they pose little threat to it as long as the former is not carrying Ice Beam. Because of its poor Speed, Alolan Exeggutor is highly dependent on prediction to maximize damage output. For instance, use Flamethrower if you feel that a Steel-type such as Klinklang or Silvally-Steel will attempt to take one of Alolan Exeggutor's other attacks. Be cautious of what Alolan Exeggutor locks itself into, as each of its moves can be exploited by certain Pokemon. Draco Meteor and Leaf Storm's stat reduction is often an invitation for setup sweepers such as Incineroar and Decidueye, as is Draco Meteor in general to Fairy-types such as Diancie and Comfey.

Team Options
========

Late-game cleaners and sweepers such as Sneasel, Heliolisk, and Choice Scarf Vanilluxe highly appreciate Alolan Exeggutor's ability to dent walls with its powerful STAB moves. Slow pivots such as Xatu and Incineroar ensure that Alolan Exeggutor is able to be brought in safely; both of these examples are notably able to lure in Pokemon such as Rhydon and Diancie. Conversely, faster pivots such as Passimian and Braviary are able to lure in physically bulky Pokemon such as Slowbro and Palossand. Alolan Exeggutor has solid offensive synergy with Fire-, Fighting-, and Steel-types like Incineroar, Medicham, and Klinklang due to their ability to take on various Ice-, Steel-, and Fairy-type threats to Alolan Exeggutor, and the weakening or removal of these threats allows Alolan Exeggutor to more freely spam its STAB moves. In return, Alolan Exeggutor can deal high damage to physically inclined walls such as Rhydon and Slowbro. Entry hazard setters such as Steelix, Diancie, and Garbodor are able to whittle at the opposition, which aids Alolan Exeggutor in wallbreaking. For instance, having Stealth Rock up ensures that Draco Meteor will always OHKO Golbat. Miltank and Piloswine are notable Stealth Rock setters, as they're able to switch into powerful Ice-type attacks for Alolan Exeggutor thanks to Thick Fat.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

A Life Orb or Dragonium Z set consisting of 3 attacks + Synthesis allows Alolan Exeggutor to keep itself healthy while having the freedom to switch between its moves, at the cost of less overall power. Harvest is an alternative ability that can be ran with a Sitrus Berry, which can supply Alolan Exeggutor with a stream of recovery that doesn't require the use of Synthesis, but this suffers similarly with a drawback in power. Sludge Bomb enables Alolan Exeggutor to 2HKO Mega Audino, which is otherwise able to switch into its other moves with impunity if kept healthy, but this move hits very little else. Alolan Exeggutor is an effective user of Trick Room due to its horrendous Speed and ability to immediately apply offensive pressure. However, this set competes with other offensive Trick Room setters such as Slowking and Aromatisse due to their ability to set up with Nasty Plot, in addition to possessing higher bulk and better typings, allowing them to much more easily break through teams. Choice Specs sets can run Sleep Powder to open up a potential sweep for another teammate, but this is incredibly easy to exploit due to Alolan Exeggutor being locked into a status move. Knock Off is able to prematurely weaken specially bulky Pokemon such as Type: Null and Golbat, but it is similarly easy to take advantage of due to its rather low power when unboosted.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Ice-type Attacks**: Alolan Exeggutor sports an unfortunate 4x weakness to Ice, making it susceptible to being OHKOed by the likes of Sneasel, Vanilluxe, and Cryogonal. While they can't beat Alolan Exeggutor one-on-one, Pokemon such as Blastoise and Assault Vest Slowbro may carry Ice Beam, dissuading Alolan Exeggutor from switching in directly. Mega Abomasnow's Ice Shard can be used to pick off Alolan Exeggutor with little difficulty.

**Fairy-types**: Diancie and Comfey possess an immunity to Draco Meteor and take little from Flamethrower, heavily pressuring Alolan Exeggutor no matter which move it locks itself into. Whimsicott boasts a resistance to both of Alolan Exeggutor's STAB attacks, though it doesn't like taking a Flamethrower or excess damage from Leaf Storm. Mega Audino, if kept healthy, is able to switch into any of Alolan Exeggutor's attacks and threatens to remove its Choice Specs with Knock Off.

**Specially Bulky Pokemon**: Due to their immense special bulk, Pokemon such as Type: Null and Mega Audino can switch into Alolan Exeggutor's attacks and proceed to stall it out. Pokemon like Klinklang and Assault Vest Slowking are able to switch into Giga Drain and Flamethrower due to Alolan Exeggutor being Choice locked. Cryogonal possesses the bulk to take on Alolan Exeggutor one-on-one and threatens it with a super effective Freeze-Dry.

**Flying-types**: Flying-types such as Braviary, Vivillon, and Dodrio are able to come in on Giga Drain and can naturally threaten Alolan Exeggutor with their super effective STAB moves. The likes of Golbat, Scyther, and Substitute Braviary also carry recovery in Roost, making them able to stall out moves such as Draco Meteor.

**Faster Pokemon**: Strong attackers like Passimian, Medicham, and Swords Dance Incineroar are able to outspeed Alolan Exeggutor due to its poor Speed, dealing high damage to it before it has a chance to attack, though none of them possess the bulk to switch into any one coverage move.

[OVERVIEW]
  • Alolan Exeggutor is an incredibly powerful wallbreaker, able to deal heavy amounts of damage to the majority of the tier either neutrally or super effectively with its powerful STAB moves.
  • Due to its passable bulk and resistances to Water-, Ground-, and Grass-type attacks, Alolan Exeggutor is able to capitalize on defensive teams that utilize Pokemon such as Slowbro, Steelix, and Torterra. how does it capitalize on them? by switching into these Pokemon to get opportunities to wallbreak? because it can break these Pokemon?
  • While unimpressive on its own, Alolan Exeggutor's Speed when fully invested is just enough to put it over a myriad of defensive Pokemon such as Garbodor, Diancie, Vaporeon, and Torterra, making it a massive threat to bulkier teams. you just used Torterra as an example; find a different Pokemon imo
  • However, Alolan Exeggutor is still incredibly slow, making it susceptible to revenge killers such as Passimian and Braviary.
  • Common weaknesses to Ice-, Fairy-, and Bug-type attacks makes Alolan Exeggutor vulnerable to the likes of Sneasel, Whimsicott, and Accelgor. merge these two bullets together. you can address any faster Pokemon that threatens it with super effective damage really.
  • Despite having powerful moves, each individual attack is difficult to stay locked into; Draco Meteor and Leaf Storm's harsh Special Attack drop upon use is highly exploitable by setup sweepers such as Incineroar and Vivillon, whereas being locked into Sludge Bomb or Flamethrower can allow threats such as Klinklang and Diancie to come in. Sludge Bomb isn't in the main set. I'd just mention how Giga Drain isn't super powerful.
  • Finally, Alolan Exeggutor has tight competition with Guzzlord due to the better defensive synergy it provides for teams with its Dark / Dragon typing, as well as a more useful ability in Beast Boost which lets it more easily snowball against defensive teams.

Moves
========

  • Draco Meteor is an incredibly powerful STAB move, hitting most unresisted Pokemon hard, but its steep stat reduction upon use and inability to hit prevalent Fairy-types such as Diancie and Whimsicott makes it difficult to spam repeatedly.
  • Leaf Storm is Alolan Exeggutor's secondary STAB attack, sharing similar amounts of power to Draco Meteor and is notably able to OHKO specially defensive Diancie, but it also struggles for the same reasons as Draco Meteor due to it lowering Alolan Exeggutor's Special Attack, which can allow resistant Pokemon such as Incineroar and Vileplume to switch in. I'd instead mention setup sweepers that want to try to well, set up against a prone Alolan Exeggutor.
  • Flamethrower rounds off Alolan Exeggutor's coverage, dealing super effective damage to resistances to its STAB moves such as Steel-types like Klinklang and Silvally-Steel, as well as Whimsicott.
  • Giga Drain is Alolan Exeggutor's most consistent form of damage output due to a lack of a downside, serving as a recovery option that's able to heal off a lot of damage against targets such as Vaporeon.

Set Details
========

  • Maximum Special Attack topped with a Modest nature enables Alolan Exeggutor to be as powerful of a wallbreaker as possible.
  • With maximum Speed, Alolan Exeggutor is able to outpace Pokemon up to uninvested base 75's and lower such as Vaporeon and Garbodor. list Garbodor first then Vaporeon because garb is the base 75 and vaporeon is the or lower
  • Frisk is Choice Specs Alolan Exeggutor's only viable ability, providing use in scouting for opponent's items which is potentially useful for later in a match.
  • Using Dragonium Z allows Alolan Exeggutor to bluff Choice Specs and fire off a powerful Devastating Drake, but this comes at the cost of less overall power. it doesn't really let you bluff Choice Specs at all; the power differential is notable enough to where your opponent should know which set you are. instead address how Dragonium Z variants don't have to lock into a move, which changes eggy from being prediction reliant into more of a "im gonna hit you hard and there is not much you can do about it" kinda mon

Usage Tips
========
  • Bring in Alolan Exeggutor whenever possible against defensive teams, as its wallbreaking capabilities are especially threatening to bulkier teams. Doing this frequently will enable Alolan Exeggutor's teammates to much more easily sweep. Pokemon such as Steelix, Torterra, Ferroseed, and Choice-locked Heliolisk pose minimal threat to Alolan Exeggutor, and as such can be used as a solid opportunity to fire off an attack. Heliolisk isn't a great mention since a) some run HP Ice and b) Hyper Voice hurts
  • Against fast-paced offensive teams, switching in should be achieved by slow, bulky pivots such as Incineroar and Type: Null, as this enables Alolan Exeggutor to gain the best matchup possible without taking excessive amounts of damage. I would just address pivots as a whole; even Passimian can get Eggy into advantageous matchups against bulky Water-types
  • Because of its poor Speed, Alolan Exeggutor is highly dependent on prediction to maximize damage output. For instance, use Flamethrower if you feel that a Steel-type such as Klinklang or Silvally-Steel will attempt to take one of Alolan Exeggutor's other attacks.
  • Be cautious of what Alolan Exeggutor locks itself into, as each one of its moves can be exploited by certain Pokemon. Draco Meteor and Leaf Storm's stat reductions is often an invitation for setup sweepers such as Incineroar and Decidueye, as is Draco Meteor in general to Fairy-types such as Diancie and Comfey.
  • talk too about how Eggy can get in on many common hazard setters (you can address that bit in the first bullet point, but explicitly state the fact they're hazard setters)

Team Options
========

  • Late-game cleaners and sweepers such as Sneasel, Heliolisk, and Choice Scarf Vanilluxe highly appreciate Alolan Exeggutor's ability to dent walls with its powerful STAB moves.
  • Slow pivots such as Xatu and Type: Null ensure that Alolan Exeggutor is able to be brought in safely; both of these examples are notably able to lure in Pokemon such as Rhydon and Steelix. again, note pivots in general.
  • Alolan Exeggutor has solid offensive synergy with Fire-, Fighting-, and Steel-types like Incineroar, Medicham, and Klinklang due to their ability to take on various Ice-, Steel, and Fairy-type threats to Alolan Exeggutor, and their weakening or removal allows Alolan Exeggutor to more freely spam its STAB moves. • Entry hazard setters such as Steelix, Diancie, and Garbodor are able to whittle at the opposition, which aids Alolan Exeggutor in wallbreaking. For instance, having Stealth Rock up ensures that Draco Meteor will always OHKO Golbat.
  • some mention of Ice-resistant Pokemon here

  • Choice Specs sets can run Sleep Powder to put targets to sleep which opens up a potential sweep for another teammate, but this is incredibly easy to abuse due to Alolan Exeggutor being locked into a status move.
  • Knock Off is able to prematurely weaken specially bulky Pokemon such as Type: Null and Golbat, but is similarly easy to take advantage of due to its rather low power unboosted.

===================

While they can't beat Alolan Exeggutor one-on-one, Pokemon such as Assault Vest Slowbro and Z-Celebrate Vaporeon may potentially carry Ice Beam, dissuading Alolan Exeggutor from switching in directly. Piloswine should be mentioned too because priority Ice Shard

**Fairy-types**: Diancie and Comfey possess an immunity to Draco Meteor and take little from Flamethrower, heavily pressuring Alolan Exeggutor into what move it locks itself into. Mega Audino, if kept healthy, is able to switch into any of Alolan Exeggutor's attacks and threatens to remove its Choice Specs with Knock Off.

**Flying-types**: Flying-types such as Braviary, Vivillon, and Dodrio are able to come in on Giga Drain and can naturally threaten Alolan Exeggutor with their respective super effective STAB moves. The likes of Golbat and Substitute Braviary also carry recovery in Roost, able to stall out moves such as Draco Meteor. might as well mention Scyther here while you're at it

**Faster Pokemon**: Strong attackers like Medicham and Incineroar are able to outspeed Alolan Exeggutor first due to its poor speed, dealing high damage to it before it has a chance to attack. Passimian, Heliolisk, Sceptile, etc. There are more options imo that you can address here. Remember to also talk about how they cant rly directly switch in and thus must come in after a sac, off a double, or a slow pivot.

**Specially Bulky Pokemon**: Due to their immense special bulk, Pokemon such as Type: Null and Mega Audino can switch into Alolan Exeggutor's attacks and proceed to stall it out. Pokemon like Klinklang and Assault Vest Slowking are able to switch into Giga Drain and Flamethrower due to Alolan Exeggutor being choiced locked. Cryogonal can eat anything from Eggy and threatens it out with Freeze Dry, giving it a chance to recover HP with Recover. would also make this bullet above the Flying-types one

I'd like a mention of its defensive typing; specifically the fact that Grass/Dragon gets free switchins vs a lot of Ground and Water attacks, as that's a key part of why its useful over Drampa.

Moves
========

Draco Meteor is an incredibly powerful STAB move, hitting most unresisted Pokemon hard, but its steep stat reduction upon use and inability to hit prevalent Fairy-types such as Diancie and Whimsicott makes it difficult to be spammed repeatedly. Leaf Storm is Alolan Exeggutor's secondary STAB attack, sharing similar amounts of power to Draco Meteor, (AC) and is notably able to OHKO specially defensive Diancie, but it also struggles for the same reasons as Draco Meteor due to it lowering Alolan Exeggutor's Special Attack, which can allow setup sweepers such as Incineroar and Braviary to take advantage of it. Flamethrower rounds off Alolan Exeggutor's coverage, dealing super effective damage to resistances to its STAB moves such as Steel-types like Klinklang and Silvally-Steel, as well as Whimsicott. Giga Drain is Alolan Exeggutor's most consistent form of damage output due to a lack of a downside, serving as a [an extra space here] recovery option that's able to heal off a lot of damage against targets such as Vaporeon.

Maximum Special Attack topped with a Modest nature enables Alolan Exeggutor to be as powerful of a wallbreaker as possible. With maximum Speed, Alolan Exeggutor is able to outpace Pokemon up to uninvested base 75's and lower ["up to" already implies and lower] such as Garbodor and Vaporeon. Frisk is Choice Specs Alolan Exeggutor's only viable ability, providing use in scouting for opponent's items which is potentially useful for later in a match. Choice Specs augments Alolan Exeggutor's power with a 50% boost to its Special Attack, allowing it to become much more threatening of a wallbreaker.

Usage Tips
========

Bring in Alolan Exeggutor whenever possible against defensive teams, as its wallbreaking capabilities are especially threatening to slower teams. Doing this frequently will enable Alolan Exeggutor's teammates to much more easily sweep. Pokemon such as Steelix, Torterra, and Palossand pose minimal threats to Alolan Exeggutor, and as such can be used as a solid opportunity to fire off an attack. Users of Stealth rRock such as Rhydon and the aforementioned Steelix and Torterra are common Stealth Rock leads that can be easily exploited due to their poor Speed and weaknesses to Alolan Exeggutor's moves. Alolan Exeggutor can also directly switch into bulky Water-types like Slowbro and Pyukumuku, as they pose little threat to Exeggutor if the former is not carrying Ice Beam. Be cautious of what Alolan Exeggutor locks itself into, as each one of its moves can be exploited by certain Pokemon. Draco Meteor and Leaf Storm's stat reductions is often an invitation for setup sweepers such as Incineroar and Decidueye, as is Draco Meteor in general to Fairy-types such as Diancie and Comfey.

Team Options
========

Alolan Exeggutor has solid offensive synergy with Fire-, Fighting-, and Steel-types like Incineroar, Medicham, and Klinklang due to their ability to take on various Ice-, Steel-, and Fairy-type threats to Alolan Exeggutor, and their the weakening or removal of these threats allows Alolan Exeggutor to more freely spam its STAB moves.

A Life Orb or Dragonium Z set consisting of 3 Attacks + Synthesis allows Alolan Exeggutor to keep itself healthy while having the freedom to switch between its moves, at the cost of less overall power. Harvest is an alternative ability that can be ran with a Sitrus Berry, which can supply Alolan Exeggutor with a stream of recovery that doesn't require the use of Synthesis, but this suffers similarly to with a drawback in power. Choice Specs sets can run Sleep Powder to put targets to sleep which opens up a potential sweep for another teammate, but this is incredibly easy to abuse due to Alolan Exeggutor being locked into a status move. Knock Off is able to prematurely weaken specially bulky Pokemon such as Type: Null and Golbat, but is similarly easy to take advantage of due to its rather low power when unboosted.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Ice-type Attacks**: Alolan Exeggutor sports an unfortunate 4x weakness to Ice, making it susceptible to being OHKOed by the likes of Sneasel, Vanilluxe, and Cryogonal. While they can't beat Alolan Exeggutor one-on-one, Pokemon such as Blastoise and Assault Vest Slowbro may potentially carry Ice Beam, dissuading Alolan Exeggutor from switching in directly. Piloswine's Ice Shard can be used to outspeed and pick off Alolan Exeggutor if it has been sufficiently weakened.

**Fairy-types**: Diancie and Comfey possess an immunity to Draco Meteor and take little from Flamethrower, heavily pressuring Alolan Exeggutor into what no matter which [not 100% sure what you're trying to say here but currently does not make grammatical sense] move it locks itself into. Whimsicott boasts a resistance to both of Alolan Exeggutor's STABs, though it doesn't like taking a Flamethrower or excess damage from Leaf Storm.

Pokemon like Klinklang and Assault Vest Slowking are able to switch into Giga Drain and Flamethrower due to Alolan Exeggutor being choiced locked. Cryogonal possesses the bulk to take on Alolan Exeggutor one-on-one and threatens it with a super effective Freeze-Dry.

**Flying-types**: Flying-types such as Braviary, Vivillon, and Dodrio are able to come in on Giga Drain and can naturally threaten Alolan Exeggutor with their respective super effective STAB moves. The likes of Golbat, Scyther, and Substitute Braviary also carry recovery in Roost, making them able to stall out moves such as Draco Meteor.

**Faster Pokemon**: Strong attackers like Passimian, Medicham, and Incineroar are able to outspeed Alolan Exeggutor first due to its poor speed, dealing high damage to it before it has a chance to attack, though none of them possess the bulk to switch into any one coverage move.

[OVERVIEW]

Alolan Exeggutor is an incredibly powerful wallbreaker, able to deal heavy amounts of neutral or super effective damage to the majority of the tier either neutrally or super effectively with its powerful STAB moves. In addition, Alolan Exeggutor can capitalize on exploit defensive teams utilizing Pokemon such as Steelix, Slowbro, and Torterra due to its decent bulk and Dragon / Grass typing, which grants it resistances to Ground-, Water-, and Grass-type moves. While unimpressive on its own, Alolan Exeggutor's Speed when fully invested is just enough to hit a benchmark that allows it to outspeed a myriad of slower Pokemon such as Diancie, Vaporeon, Vikavolt, and Guzzlord, making it a massive threat to slower teams. Finally, Alolan Exeggutor has tight competition with Guzzlord due to the better defensive synergy it Guzzlord [arguably ambiguous] (do "the latter") provides for teams with its Dark / Dragon typing (RC) as well as a and its more useful ability in Beast Boost which that lets it more easily snowball against defensive teams.
