New Ability

Galvanize: Normal-type moves become Electric-type moves. The power of these moves is boosted a little

Galvanize! That alone is going to make Alolan Golem pretty good. Remember Mega Glalie's Explosion? Change it from Ice to Electric, then give it to a Pokemon with the same base attack that can hold an item and not take up a Mega slot. That's scary. Too bad it can't run Galvanize and Sutrdy at the same time.

This isn't too bad actually. Electric Explosion/SE/Earthquake is only resisted by Breloom and Chesnaught. It's got great neutral coverage going for it

You can give it a Focus Sash though, so that kind of makes up for it.

Jesus, completely forgot about Galvanize Explosion, Considering M-Glaile.

There's standard Sturdy SR setup. Then there's Galvanize bulky offense...
Oh, decisions, decisions...

Holy crap completely forgot about that lol.

Pretty cool design but ground types are going to be a major problem for Golem-A. They can easily take a hit and OHKO back, Magnet rise could remedy this though. A Rock polish and steel trapper set I think will be the main sets. Water types are still a problem but with a speed boost most of them will be scared to switch in.

I wouldn't put too much stock in Galvanize boom just yet, as Ground-types will likely be the most common switch-ins to thes Pokemon based on typing alone.
Then wait until their ground type is dead. You won't start the fight off with explosion. It'll be a last resort and an almost garunteed KO

It's basically the perfect Skarmory counter with magnet pull. Switch in, kill it, set rocks at will. Also counters the shit out of Talonflame... but that might not be necessary in OU anymore.

I think galvanize explosion will mostly be a meme set in doubles, very high risk gambit but if you connect with it you just win the game right there. Z crystal will effectively let you explode twice as well, provided you can survive the inevitable earthquake coming your way.

I agree. Refrigate explosion from mega glalie was way less problematic because of ice not having an immunity. Return will do a lot of damage with that base stat too though so I would run that.

How do you kill skarm with this thing? Especially nongalvanized variants, I dont expect you can go for special moves with that special attack stat and with roost it will just shrug off the damage of golems thunderpunch while it gets rocky helmet damage.

252+ Atk Electric/Rock Golem Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Skarmory: 130-154 (38.9 - 46.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
252+ Atk Electric/Rock Golem Thunder Punch vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Skarmory: 146-174 (43.7 - 52%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

Physically defensive Skarm can just about stall it out with Rocky Helmet, it does beat the special defensive version though. Still I can't see it even making OU with that special defence, lack of recovery and ground weakness.

Perhaps run Double-Edge so you kill yourself in a slower way. Or Z-Explosion if the ability affects Z-Moves.
Also how dare you break the tradition of "Ate" in the end of the ability, Golem-A?

So basically better Probopass? Literally all they did was take the concept of Probo's line and apply it to Geodude's, and gave it an -ate ability.

Typing doesn't look too good because of massive Ground weakness, but it resists Flying by 4-times and has great physical bulk.

I'm expecting it to be higher than Probo in the tiers at least.

487 BP electric explosion after the stab and 30% ate boost.

252+ Atk Aerilate Golem Explosion vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Chansey: 729-858 (103.5 - 121.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO

I made it Flying type with Aerilate to simulate Galvanize. That damage is insane. It'll probably still be low tier (I'm predicting RU), but it's miles better than regular Golem.

Sylveon.

Penny saved is still a fucking penny
Even though galvanise is cool aaf, but I am still not seeing it in higher tiers. Most grounds switch on it, day in/day out and suffers from the same thing golem always did, dies to most special attacks. Though it looks funny.
Btw what is that TM59, Brutal Swing?
