taken over from viper. guess i specialize in dark types

[OVERVIEW]
- fastest parting shot user
- very frail
- fastest unboosted dark type
- unimpressive damage output
- difficult to get into play
- stiff competition as a Dark-type
- poor coverage
- lackluster move pool besides Nasty Plot and Parting Shot
- cool lure mons!

[SET]
name: Z-Parting Shot
move 1: Parting Shot
move 2: Dark Pulse
move 3: Hidden Power [Fighting]
move 4: Taunt / Thunderbolt
item: darkinium z
ability: technician
nature: timid
evs: 36 HP / 200 SpA / 40 SpD / 200 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
=========
- Parting Shot allows for Meowth to pivot around on teams, keeping up momentum
- Z-Parting Shot can be used to heal a crucial teammate
- Dark Pulse is its strongest STAB
- Hidden Power Fighting provides decent coverage alongside Dark Pulse
- Taunt allows Meowth to block hazards from Dwebble and Surskit, though it is risky.
- Taunt can also block status moves, which can be turned into set up opportunities alongside Z-Memento
- Thunderbolt allows Meowth have some offensive presence in the face of most Fairy-types

Set Details
=========
- Max Speed is achieved, allowing Meowth to be as quick as possible.
- Special Attack is fully invested into in order to make Meowth somewhat threatening.
- The leftover EVs are invested into HP and Special Defense in order to make Meowth slightly bulkier.

Usage Tips
=========
- Meowth should be played in a hit and run manner
- Parting Shot to keep up momentum
- Z-Parting Shot when a crucial Pokemon needs its HP recovered
- In a pinch, Z-Dark Pulse can be used for sheer damage output

Team Options
==========
- Sturdy Fighting-type counters are absolutely needed
- Snubbull is able to keep up offensive momentum and benefits from Z-Parting Shot
- Shellder and Tirtouga can utilize Parting Shot and turn it into set up opportunities.
- Tirtouga enjoys Z-Parting Shot's healing potentially though wishes it removed status as well.
- Timburr packing Poison Jab is able to lure and remove Fairy-types for Meowth.
- Timburr is able to take advantage of Parting Shot's momentum grabbing abilities and enjoy's Z-Parting Shot's recovery.

[SET]
name: Nasty Plot
move 1: Nasty Plot
move 2: Dark Pulse
move 3: Hidden Power [Fighting]
move 4: Thunderbolt / Parting Shot
item: life orb
ability: technician
nature: timid
evs: 200 SpA / 40 SpD / 200 Spe
ivs: 19 HP

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
=========
- Dark pulse is special stab
- Hidden power fighting is technician boosted, hitting Pawniard especially hard.
- nasty plot is used for set up to sweep an enemy team when counters are gone
- thunderbolt is Meowth's best 3rd coverage option, hitting Fairy-types and Fighting-types neutrally and has a nifty though extremely unreliable paralysis chance.
- thunderbolt is extremely important simply for hitting vullaby
- parting shot allows for easy pivoting and weakens the opponent's offenses

Set Details
=========
- Reducing the HP IVs to 19 causes Meowth to reach 19 HP
- Only takes 1 damage for LO recoil.
- EVs make you 19 speed to outspeed/tie with almost all of the tier and the max spa you can with 19 speed
- Life orb makes you be more powerful
- EVs in special defense makes you less vulnerable Croagunk's vacuum wave and resisted special attacks
- Doesn't matter that much though

Usage Tips
=========
- Dark Pulse and coverage can be used early game to weaken switchins
- Use Meowth to weaken its own checks early
- Use Hidden Power Fighting to hit Dark-types and Steel-types hard. As Pawniard gains +3 from switching into Parting Shot, aim to Hidden Power Fighting it on the switch to avoid catastrophe.
- Nasty Plot should be used on forced switches, such as against Gastly or Pumpkaboo, to try and sweep.

Team Options
==========
- Poison Jab Timburr helps lure in and weaken Spritzee and Cottonee for Meowth
- Other voltturn users can be used to keep up good momentum
- Croagunk and Foongus also beat Timburr, Mienfoo, and Spritzee which wall Alolan Meowth
- Cottonee handles most Fighting-types well enough and can Memento for set up opportunities
- Diglett with Groundium Z or Pawniard with Steelium Z can pick off an unsuspecting Timburr; Diglett is also able to trap and remove Cottonee with Sludge Bomb and has access to Memento for even more support.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]

Other Options
==========
- Due to Technician Alolan Meowth is able to have a 90 Base Power coverage option in any type it would like.
- Hidden Power Poison is one of the most appealing options, OHKOing Cottonee and 2HKOing Spritzee after Stealth Rock. This forces Meowth to use Thunderbolt in order to hit Pawniard hard however, making it often less than ideal.
- Hidden Power Ground still hits Pawniard hard, still KOing Pawniard after a Nasty Plot boost while hitting Alolan Grimer hard.
- Hidden Power Flying can function to hit Mienfoo and Timburr hard on the switch, though this again forces Meowth to use Thunderbolt in order to hit Pawniard hard.
- Physical Alolan Meowth sets can be somewhat appealing but are far weaker than its special counterparts. These sets are generally better done by Kanto Meowth.
- Aerial Ace is somewhat appealing to hit Fighting-types and Cottonee, but it is generally weak and is but only a 2HKO.
- Hypnosis can be handy to put a switch in to sleep. Its less than stellar accuracy makes this a risky option however.
- Fake Out is another choice as priority is never bad and its flinching abilities can be useful, but Meowth can hardly afford the room to run it. Again Kanto Meowth is far better if you are looking for a Fake Out attacker with high speed.

Checks and Counters
===========

**Fighting Types**: Fighting types resist meowth’s stab and can deal a lot of damage back to meowth with the stab that they carry.

**Fairy Types**: Fairy types like spritzee do not care about any of alolan meowth’s attacks. They resist dark pulse and hidden power [Fighting] which makes them a very good switch into meowth although some fear the pivot out into a trapper or counter.

**Special Defence Tanks**: Pokemon like Munchlax and Alolan Grimer can switch into Meowth’s special attacks fairly well and retaliate back with strong STABs. Vullaby can also prove to be a nuisance if Thunderbolt is not used.

**Priority Users**: Alolan Meowth is very frail so a strong priority moves like mach punch, aqua jet, vacuum wave, and more really hurt meowth. Priority users must be removed for a meowth sweep to happen.

you don't mention vullaby when you talk about tbolt when tbolt is basically for vullaby

I personally think z-parting shot is way more useful than LO nasty plot and should be set 1. doesn't matter too much though

in other options talk about how meowth basically gets a 90BP coverage move in any type it likes.

HP Poison can lure out cottonee which is cool and can 2hko spritzee after rocks. However this means it has to rely on tbolt to hit pawniard (however a +2 tbolt does KO pawn after knock off, so a hp poison+tbolt set isn't too bad)

similarly, hp Flying can be used, easily getting the 2hko on mienfoo, timburr and croagunk. again, this means relying on tbolt for pawnaird and spritzee.

finally, hidden power ground can KOs both Grimer and Pawniard at +2, whilst still hitting Houndour. only relevant dark-type this matter about is scraggy

in checks and counters add grimer-alola and vullaby (if you're not running tbolt)

e: in writing this i realised that this mon is a really good lure!

[OVERVIEW]
  • Mention Technician here, as it's a nice ability that boosts the power of its main coverage move (Hidden Power)
  • Mention examples of mons it can lure in for a teammate (Fairy-types like Spritzee, Fighting-types like Timburr)
[SET]
name: Z-Parting Shot
  • Capitalize Darkinium Z, Technician, and Timid
[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
=========
  • Mention why HP Fighting is nice coverage with Dark Pulse (hits Darks SE, hits Fighters neutrally)
  • Also mention that Thunderbolt hits Vullaby
Set Details
=========
  • Mention some notable Pokemon it outspeeds (Doduo, Gastly)
  • Mention Technician to power up Hidden Power
  • Mention Darkinium Z to gain access to Z-Parting Shot
Usage Tips
=========
  • Mention that the stat drops from Parting Shot can potentially give a teammate a set up opportunity
Team Options
==========
  • 'Tirtouga enjoys Z-Parting Shot's healing potentially though wishes it removed status as well.' This is worded really awkwardly.
  • Mention Pokemon like Foongus and Pawniard that can deal with Fairy-types that Meowth hates.
[SET]
name: Nasty Plot
  • Capitalize Life Orb, Technician, Timid
[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
=========
  • Mention that lacking Thunderbolt's coverage makes it harder to sweep if you run Parting Shot
Set Details
=========
  • Again, mention notable mons you outspeed (Doduo, Gastly)
  • Mention Technician here to power up Hidden Power
Usage Tips
=========

good

Team Options

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]

Other Options
==========
  • Mention that Alolan Meowth's high Speed can make it an all right Sunny Day or Rain Dance user, but Sunny Day is outclassed by Vulpix and rain is not very good in Little Cup due to opposing auto inducers removing the weather
Checks and Counters
===========
  • Mention examples of Fighting-types (Mienfoo, Timburr)
