UU Alolan Muk

[OVERVIEW]

Alolan Muk is one of UU's primary Pursuit trappers; its special bulk and good defensive typing allow it to check Ghost- and Psychic-types as well as a wide variety of special attackers like Latias, Mega Manectric, Sylveon, and Mega Pidgeot. Unfortunately, Alolan Muk is relatively slow and will almost always have to take a hit before firing off an attack. It also has a very mediocre Defense stat, which leaves it vulnerable to physical attackers such as Terrakion, Mega Beedrill, Mamoswine, Infernape, and Gliscor. Because Alolan Muk relies on an Assault Vest to survive hits comfortably, it gets worn down rather easily.

[SET]
name: Assault Vest
move 1: Pursuit
move 2: Knock Off
move 3: Poison Jab
move 4: Fire Blast
item: Assault Vest
ability: Poison Touch
nature: Brave
evs: 180 HP / 252 Atk / 76 SpA

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Pursuit lets Alolan Muk trap Pokemon it forces out like Latias, Starmie, Cofagrigus, and Mega Sceptile. Knock Off is Alolan Muk's secondary Dark-type STAB move that can be used against Ghost- and Psychic-types that might want to stay in while also removing the foe's item. Poison Jab hits most Fairy-types, and in conjunction with Poison Touch it also has a 51% chance to poison the target. Fire Blast targets Scizor, Cobalion, and Klefki, which take almost no damage from Alolan Muk's other moves.

Set Details
========

Maximum Attack investment in conjunction with a Brave nature lets Alolan Muk hit as hard as possible. 76 Special Attack EVs let Alolan Muk guarantee that Fire Blast 2HKOes Cobalion and bulky Scizor, even after Scizor recovers its HP with Roost, while OHKOing offensive Scizor. The remaining EVs are put into HP to make Alolan Muk as bulky as possible. Poison Touch can poison Pokemon that can try to switch in and help Alolan Muk wear them down.

Usage Tips
========

Try to get Alolan Muk in on Psychic- and Ghost-types like Latias and Cofagrigus to effectively Pursuit trap them and remove them from the game. It can also switch into a lot of special attackers, like Mega Sceptile, Mega Manectric, and Hydreigon, due to its great special bulk and retaliate with a Knock Off or Poison Jab. Keep Alolan Muk as healthy as possible because it gets worn down rather fast due to its lack of recovery. If there is nothing to Pursuit trap, try to wear down the opposing team by removing their items with Knock Off. Try to cripple Pokemon such as Hippowdon and Krookodile by removing their items with Knock Off if they try to switch in. Alolan Muk can also remove Toxic Spikes because of its Poison typing.

Team Options
========

Alolan Muk fits best on balance and bulky offense teams that are in need of a Pursuit trapper. In return, they can make up for Alolan Muk's lack of Defense. Pokemon that have trouble with Psychic-, Ghost-, or Fairy-types such as Amoonguss, Latias, Mega Altaria, and Hydreigon make for good teammates, as Alolan Muk checks these, while they can switch into Ground-type attacks with relative ease due to their ability or bulk. Latias can also fully heal Alolan Muk with Healing Wish, extending its longevity. Pokemon that can use Volt Switch like Mega Manectric and Rotom-W can lure in Latias and let Alolan Muk effectively Pursuit trap it. Wish support from Pokemon like Sylveon and Alomomola greatly aids Alolan Muk, as this also increases Alolan Muk's longevity. Clerics that can heal burns for Alolan Muk support it well because burns greatly reduce its damage output; Sylveon and Togekiss can fill this role. Physically defensive walls such as Rotom-W, Hippowdon, and Jellicent can all switch into physical attacks, which Alolan Muk doesn't like to take at all; in return it can come in on Pokemon such as Latias and Hydreigon that might try to take advantage of these physical walls. Pokemon like Latias, Gliscor, Rotom-W, and Mega Aerodactyl can switch into Ground-type attacks, which Alolan Muk is weak to. Entry hazard removers such as Mega Blastoise and Starmie can prevent Alolan Muk from taking any residual damage. Alolan Muk can wear down Pokemon with Poison Touch and Knock Off, enabling sweepers like Cobalion, Terrakion, and Heracross to sweep more easily.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Shadow Sneak can pick off weakened foes and patches up Alolan Muk's lack of Speed; however, Alolan Muk would have to give up one of its moves, which it doesn't want to do unless the team already deals with Cobalion and Scizor well. Gunk Shot is Alolan Muk's most powerful Poison-type STAB move and can let it power through Grass- and Fairy-types completely, but it is generally worse than Poison Jab because it isn't a contact move and has lower accuracy. A set utilizing Gluttony and a Figy Berry to heal up may seem appealing but is a lot worse in practice, as it fails to check special attackers. Explosion lets Alolan Muk heavily damage or KO a Pokemon if it gets low on HP and doesn't have hopes of healing up through Wish support.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Ground-types**: Ground-types such as Mamoswine, Gliscor, and Swampert threaten Alolan Muk with their STAB moves; they also take relatively little damage from any of Alolan Muk's attacks. However, they have to be wary of switching in, as Knock Off can cripple them.

**Physical Attackers**: Due to Alolan Muk's lackluster Defense stat, it can't take a physical attack well and can easily get forced out by any Pokemon that threatens it with an unresisted physical hit like Infernape, Mega Beedrill, and Heracross.

**Steel-types**: Mega Aggron and Mega Steelix are immune to Poison Jab and take reduced damage from Knock Off, and they also take almost nothing from Fire Blast due to their ability and good defensive stats, respectively. Mega Steelix also threatens Alolan Muk out with Earthquake. Empoleon can easily switch into Alolan Muk due to its Water typing. It doesn't appreciate getting its item removed by Knock Off, however. Cobalion and Scizor can set up on Alolan Muk and retaliate with a boosted move.

**Terrakion**: Terrakion resists both of Alolan Muk's STAB moves and gets an Attack boost if it gets hit by Knock Off because of Justified, but it has to be wary of being poisoned.

**Residual Damage**: Alolan Muk hates getting worn down by entry hazards and burns because it can't recover HP back by itself. A burn also cuts into its Attack stat, greatly reducing its damage output.

overview

mention its primary role in a first point (specially defensive tank, pursuit trapper)

moves

specify that the celebi has to lack groundium z (probably its best set right now), and also add that pursuit can be used vs some neutral targets like mega sceptile and magneton also.

mention in the poison jab line that the poison chance is in conjunction with its ability

those are pretty much the only three pokemon that fire blast hits so remove the "like", and also make sure to point out that due to muk's super-ass spA it's really not worth using versus many other targets over just knock off or poison jab.

set details

either rephrase the first line such that it isn't at a place where giving examples would help or give examples of special attackers that it switches into.

add a line for poison touch

i would remove the last line since 0 atk muk is really, really ineffective as a pursuit trapper and instead you can just say that its spread is very customizable based on what it wants to check.

usage tips

remove the first line since there are some changes that could be made to it and also it belongs moreso in team options.

add a point specifying to keep muk as healthy as possible as long as there are still trappable mons like latias that need pursuiting.

give examples of psychic and ghost types here since that's generally just a thing you need to do every time.

if you want you can mention here that you can use muk-a to remove toxic spikes in a pinch.

team options

add back the first line from usage tips, and also mention that muk can function very well on balance teams (preferably mention balance before bulky offense, honestly)

i'd remove umbreon as a wish user here since that's pretty much only for hard stall

add clerics like sylveon and togekiss here since muk hates burns

add hazard removal like mstoise and such because muk hates residual damage

other options

remove flamethrower, it's too weak to even be considered as an option.

mention explosion

checks and counters

add a point for status, muk hates burns and also dislikes getting put to sleep.

add a point for residual damage, muk hates spikes and rocks and other forms of chip due to being a fat mon w/o recovery.

change the mega aggron point in such a manner where it'd also include mega steelix.

add a point for terrakion because it resists muk's entire moveset and gets justified boosts from knock.

Overview
* You have way too many examples listed when you talk about Pokemon Alolan Muk can check. Remove both Hydreigon mentions you have there and also remove Cofagrigus and Celebi (the former is the least relevant of your examples while the latter runs Z-Earth Power more than any other set).
* This overview doesn't really have much flow. Try using transitions like 'furthermore' and 'however,' since those will allow this section to flow a lot more easily.

Moves
* Magneton and Mega Sceptile aren't Ghost- or Psychic-types, so just say that Pursuit can trap special attackers that Alolan Muk will force out. You also have too many examples here, so remove Celebi (again, since it runs Z-Earth Power a lot), Magneton, and Chandelure (only cuz Cofag could be mentioned somewhere and these latter two examples are the least relevant).
* Fairy-types are never going to try switching in, so remove 'that try to switch into Knock Off' from your Poison jab line. Also include Grass-types in that section and give examples of both Fairy- and Grass-types.
* 'Fire Blast isn't really useful against any other Pokemon due to muk's low Special Attack stat.' - this is an unnecessary thing to state, so just remove this sentence.

Set Details
* This section should be reworded since it seems as though 180 EVs invested in HP are there for a specific reason when they're really only there because Muk has nothing else to pool its remaining investment into. Reword this section by talking about the Attack and Special Attack investment first, and then saying something like 'the remaining investment goes into HP to allow Alolan Muk to more reliably tank hits from *insert examples here* with an Assault Vest.
* 'Muk's spread can be adjusted to what the team needs it to check.' - this sentence is far too vague. I think you should elaborate as to what specific spreads Alolan Muk can run to adjust to team needs because otherwise it doesn't make sense to include this sentence.

Usage Tips
* Talk about switching in on other special attacker aside from Psychic- and Ghost-types here (give examples), and say that due to its good special bulk Alolan Muk can easily do this while threatening switch-ins with Knock Off or Poison Jab afterward.
* Mamoswine and Zygarde-10% aren't switching into Knock Off from Alolan Muk at all, Mamo takes over 50% most of the time and Zydog can even be OHKOed by Knock Off after entry hazard damage. Use Krookodile and Hippowdon as your examples instead.
* Fix the spacing issue you have at the end of this section.

Team Options
* If you want to say that Pokemon that have trouble with Fairy-, Ghost-, and Psychic-types can come in on Ground-type attacks for Muk, either specify that Infernape can't or remove it as an example.
* I feel like Latias is too frequently used as an example in this section, so remove it as an example of an entry hazard remover and instead use something like Starmie or Crobat as an example.
* Mention setup sweepers in this section, give examples (make sure you use examples that aren't already in this section), and say that most generally appreciate Alolan Muk's ability to weaken foes with Poison Touch and Knock Off, thus easing the possibility of a sweep.

Other Options
* Say that Gunk Shot is Alolan Muk's most powerful STAB attack and can be used to power through Fairy- and Grass-type foes completely, but isn't preferred due to not being a contact move and thus having a worse chance to poison foes than Poison Jab.

Checks and Counters
* You need to give examples of physical attackers, it doesn't make sense to leave them out entirely.
* Change the 'Mega Aggron and Steelix' line to a Steel-type section. You can list those as specific examples, though Cobalion can set up on Alolan Muk, Scizor can live a Fire Blast and heavily dent it, and Empoleon also walls it, so they should all be listed as checks.
* Say in the Terrakion line that it fears being poisoned.
* The residual damage line needs more substance, especially since you don't even talk about types of residual damage that chip Alolan Muk. Say that VoltTurn, entry hazard damage, and burn damage can all wear Alolan Muk down, while also stating that burns cripple it by halving its attack.
* Since I'm now having you mention burns in the residual damage section, I think it'd be best to just remove the status section altogether, as it doesn't serve much of a purpose otherwise.

This has a lot of fixing up to do, so tag me when you've implemented these changes and I'll give this another look.

Alolan Muk is one of UU's primary Pursuit trappers, (RC) (ASC); its special bulk and good defensive typing allow it to check Ghost- and Psychic-types as well as a wide variety of special attackers like Latias, Mega Manectric, Sylveon, and Mega Pidgeot. Fire Blast targets Scizor, Cobalion, and Klefki, (AC) which take almost nothing no damage from its other moves.

Set Details
========

Maximum Attack investment in conjunction with a Brave nature lets Alolan Muk hit as hard as possible. 76 Special Attack EVs investment lets Alolan Muk guarantee that Fire Blast a 2HKOes on Cobalion and bulky Scizor, even after Scizor recovers its HP with Roost, (AC) (I think) from the previous Fire Blast while OHKOing offensive Scizor. The remaining investment is EVs are put into HP because it makes Alolan Muk as bulky as possible. Poison Touch can poison Pokemon that can try to switch in and help Alolan Muk wear them wear it down.

Usage Tips
========

Try to get Alolan Muk in on Psychic- and Ghost-types like Latios Latias (I think, since Latios isn't UU) and Cofagrigus to effectively Pursuit trap them and effectively (repeated) remove them from the game, (RC) (AP). It can also switch into a lot of special attackers, (AC) like Mega Sceptile, Mega Manectric, and Hydreigon, (AC) due to its great special bulk to and retaliate with a Knock Off or Poison Jab afterwards. Keep Alolan Muk as healthy as possible because it gets worn down rather fast due to its lack of recovery. If there is nothing to Pursuit trap, (AC) try to wear down the opposing team by removing their foe's items with Knock Off. Try to cripple Pokemon such as Hippowdon and Krookodile by Knocking Off their item removing their items with Knock Off if they try to switch in. Alolan Muk can also remove Toxic Spikes because of its Poison-(RH) typing.

Team Options

Alolan Muk fits best on balance and bulky offense teams that are in need of a Pursuit trapper. In return, (AC) they can make up for Alolan Muk's lack of Physical Defense. Pokemon that have trouble with Psychic-, Ghost-, or Fairy-types such as Latias, Mega Altaria, and Hydreigon (none of these Pokemon are weak to psychic so maybe add another example?) make for good team-(RH)mates, (AC) as Alolan Muk can checks all of those for them said typings, while they can also switch into Ground-type attacks for Alolan Muk with relative ease due to their ability or bulk, respectively. Latias can also recover back Alolan Muk's health fully heal Alolan Muk with Healing Wish, extending its longevity. Pokemon that can use Volt Switch like Mega Manectric and Rotom-W can lure in Latias, (AC) to switch out of it with Volt Switch, (AC) and let Alolan Muk effectively Pursuit trap it Latias. Wish support from Pokemon like Sylveon and Alomomola greatly aids Alolan Muk, (AC) as they let it recover HP via Wish this also increases Alolan Muk's longevity. (saying that wish support lets it recover with wish makes it seem redundant; feel free to reword my addition to further clarify) Clerics that can remove heal burns on for Alolan Muk support it well because it hates burns (why?) , (RC) (ASC); Sylveon and Togekiss can fill this role. Physically defensive walls such as Rotom-W, Hippowdon, and Jellicent can all switch into physical attacks, which, (RC) Alolan Muk doesn't like to take at all, and in return it can come in on Pokemon such as Latias and Hydreigon that might try to take advantage of them these physical walls. Pokemon like Latias, Gliscor, Rotom-W, and Mega Aerodactyl can switch into Ground-type attacks, (AC) which Alolan Muk greatly appreciates is weak to. (saying greatly appreciates here could make it seem like it appreciates the ground type moves) Entry hazard removers such as Mega Blastoise and Starmie can remove entry hazards to (redundant) prevent Alolan Muk from taking any residual damage. Alolan Muk can wear down Pokemon with Poison Touch and Knock Off, enabling sweepers like Cobalion, Terrakion, and Heracross to sweep easier more easily.

Shadow Sneak can pick off weakened foes and patches up Alolan Muk's lack of Speed; however, Alolan Muk would have to give up one of its moves, which it doesn't want to do unless the team already deals with Cobalion and Scizor well. Gunk Shot is Alolan Muk's most powerful Poison-type STAB move that can let it power through Grass- and Fairy-types completely, but it is generally worse because it isn't a contact move and has lower accuracy.

===================

**Ground-types**: Ground-types such as Mamoswine, Gliscor, and Swampert threaten Alolan Muk with their Ground-type STAB moves; they also take relatively little damage from any of Alolan Muk's attacks.

Mega Steelix also threatens it out with Earthquake. Empoleon can easily switch into Alolan Muk due to its Water typing. It doesn't appreciate getting its item removed by Knock Off, (AC) however.

Knock Off is Alolan Muk's secondary Dark-type STAB move that can be used against Ghost- and Psychic-types that might want to stay in while also removing the foe's item. The remaining EVs are put into HP because it makes to make Alolan Muk as bulky as possible. Poison Touch can poison Pokemon that can try to switch in and help Alolan Muk wear them down.

Usage Tips
========

Wish support from Pokemon like Sylveon and Alomomola greatly aids Alolan Muk, as this also increases Alolan Muk's longevity. Clerics that can heal burns for Alolan Muk support it well because it hates burns since it greatly reduces reduce its damage output; Sylveon and Togekiss can fill this role. Physically defensive walls such as Rotom-W, Hippowdon, and Jellicent can all switch into physical attacks, which (RC) Alolan Muk doesn't like to take at all; (SC) in return it can come in on Pokemon such as Latias and Hydreigon that might try to take advantage of these physical walls.
