[SET COMMENTS]

Thanks to Amoonguss' stats, ability, typing, and movepool, Amoonguss can thrive in the current metagame when given the right support. Thanks to Regenerator, Amoonguss can act as a great pivot for a lot of offensive Pokemon, such as Zeraora, Clefable, and Primarina without being worn down easily over the course of battle. Amoonguss is also the only Pokemon that currently has access to Spore, a terrific status move that only other Grass-types are immune to. Giga Drain is a form of STAB that keeps Water and Ground-types such as Azumarill, Urshifu-R, and Hippowdon at bay. Giga Drain is also some form of recovery, though it certainly shouldn't be counted on to heal due to Amoonguss' rather lackluster Special Attack. Sludge Bomb is a secondary form of STAB, and dents Fairy-type Pokemon such as Clefable and Primarina. Clear Smog, while less powerful, prevents Pokemon such as Urshifu and Kommo-o from setting up, so it should be considered when using Amoonguss. Lastly, Toxic helps cripple common switch-ins such as Volcarona and Kyurem, and can't be missed by Amoonguss. Stun Spore is also an option, as it cripples Steel types such as Scizor and Aegislash that often switch into Amoonguss. Rocky Helmet is the primary item of choice for this set, as Amoonguss often switches into physical attacks such as Close Combat or U-turn. Black Sludge is also an option to consider to increase Amoonguss' longevity. The Special Defense EVs are used to avoid a 2HKO from Spell Tag Aegislash's Shadow Ball, with the rest of the EVs going into Defense and HP.

Amoonguss fits best on balance and defensive teams looking for a durable pivot. Once Amoonguss uses Spore, Amoonguss becomes a lot less threatening to the opposing team. As previously mentioned, Steel-types such as Scizor and Aegislash can switch into Amoonguss without much threat, and can proceed to set up or fire off powerful attacks. Ferrothorn and Corviknight can do similar, threatening Amoonguss instead as set up bait in the form of entry hazards or using Defog. Because of this, Rotom-H makes for an excellent partner. Rotom-H also has the added benefit of checking Flying-types, such as Togekiss and Skarmory, while Amoonguss can comfortably switch into Water-type attacks aimed at Rotom-H. Slowbro is a good partner, as the two form an infamous Regenerator core. Slowbro has no problem switching into Ice and Psychic-type attacks aimed at Amoonguss bar Freeze-Dry, and Amoonguss can easily sponge Electric and Grass-type attacks aimed at Slowbro. Volcarona can be very troublesome for Amoonguss, threatening to set up with impunity thanks to Safeguard, or just blast Amoonguss away with Fire Blast. Tyranitar can act as a great check to Volcarona, and can also switch in on Psychic-type attacks aimed at Amoonguss, while Amoonguss in return can sponge Fighting and Water-type attacks for Tyranitar. Lastly, Amoonguss appreciates entry hazards being removed, enabling Amoonguss to consistently check the threats it needs to without being worn down. Excadrill is the best Rapid Spinner in the tier, while Skarmory and Corviknight share great synergy with Amoonguss, making them great teammates.

¿Why do you run 92 sp def? I don't know if this is the right place to ask it. If not, tell me and I'll delete the question.
hey! thanks for pointing this out, this ev spread is actually incorrect, the correct ev spread is 248 HP / 152 Def / 108 SpD bold nature, which avoids the 2hko from spell tag aegislash's shadow ball. the evs can be modified by the qc team, but that's what i currently think is the best spread
