[OVERVIEW]

Ampharos has a great Special Attack stat and decent bulk, making it seem like a solid offensive cleric on paper. In practice, however, it ends up being outclassed by Eelektross offensively due to its superior coverage moves, and Lanturn defensively due to its defensive typing, access to Volt Absorb, and ability to cripple attackers with Scald while also possessing Heal Bell. Ampharos is further hampered by its abysmal Speed, which in tandem with its lack of reliable recovery means it often falls flat as both an offensive Electric-type and a cleric.

[SET]
name: Cleric
move 1: Thunderbolt / Volt Switch
move 2: Focus Blast
move 3: Hidden Power Ice
move 4: Heal Bell
item: Leftovers
ability: Static
nature: Modest
evs: 184 HP / 252 SpA / 72 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Ampharos can put its offensive power and workable movepool to use, able to serve as a cleric while dealing an adequate amount of damage to frailer Pokemon with the appropriate coverage move. Unfortunately, so can Eelektross, as it has superior coverage moves in conjunction with Knock Off and Acid Spray to cripple bulky Pokemon and perform better offensively; it does especially well against Ground-types like Mudsdale and Alolan Dugtrio thanks to Levitate. Lanturn can find more opportunities to support its team with Heal Bell thanks to its dual typing and access to Scald, allowing it to take on a wider array of Pokemon defensively.
