Monotype Araquanid (Bug) [QC: 3/3] [GP: 2/2]

[OVERVIEW]

Bug
========

Araquanid's signature ability Water Bubble offers tremendous offensive and defensive utility to Bug, halving the damage taken from Fire-type attacks, doubling the power of Water-type attacks, and making Araquanid immune to burns. Araquanid's high Special Defense and resistance to Fire and Water moves allow it to function as a specially defensive tank on Bug, allowing it to check special threats like Mega Charizard Y and Volcarona. It can also serve as a Sticky Web setter to allow other Pokemon to be used over Galvantula, such as Yanmega. However, Araquanid is one-dimensional offensively, as outside of its Water-type STAB moves, it is very weak and cannot threaten Pokemon with coverage. Araquanid's weakness to Electric-type attacks is problematic for Bug, as the type lacks sturdy resistances to Electric-type moves and struggles with threats like Tapu Koko and Alolan Raichu. Araquanid can also struggle with longevity, as it is weak to Stealth Rock and lacks reliable recovery. Araquanid is slow and cannot outspeed even uninvested defensive threats such as Mega Venusaur; combined with its one-dimensional offenses, this can make it a momentum drain on Bug teams.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

With its power doubled by Water Bubble, Liquidation is Araquanid's strongest and most spammable attack. Scald is a weaker Water-type STAB move with a 30% burn chance, which is helpful for pestering defensive threats that Araquanid can't break with Liquidation or Water-resistant targets such as those on Dragon- and Water-types. Leech Life is a Bug-type STAB move, useful against Psychic-types and bulky Water-resistant or -immune Pokemon such as Slowbro and Seismitoad, that can keep Araquanid healthy for checking threats. Mirror Coat is a useful tool for checking special attackers that are not threatened by Araquanid's other three attacks like Volcanion which also manages threats that can 2HKO Araquanid like Tapu Koko and Alolan Raichu.

Set Details
========

Maximum Attack EVs with an Adamant nature give Liquidation and Leech Life the most damage output possible. 68 Speed EVs allow Araquanid to outspeed key special walls such as Chansey and Alolan Muk, as well as Hippowdon and Azumarill after Sticky Web. The remaining EVs go into HP to improve Araquanid's bulk. Water Bubble doubles the damage dealt by Water-type attacks, halves the damage taken by Fire-type attacks, and grants an immunity to burns. Assault Vest bolsters Araquanid's Special Defense to make it as formidable of a special switch-in as possible.

Usage Tips
========

Use Araquanid as a switch-in and offensive check to special threats in the metagame such as Kingdra and Mega Charizard Y. Preserve Araquanid when faced with powerful Pokemon that can otherwise sweep the team, like Volcarona, Choice Scarf Victini, and Porygon-Z so that it can revenge kill them with Liquidation or Mirror Coat. Use Liquidation liberally, as it is Araquanid's strongest move; even when resisted, it is more powerful than Leech Life. Scald should be used to burn defensive threats that aren't threatened by Liquidation such as Skarmory and Toxapex. It can also be used to pester physical attackers such as Dragonite that are switching in to take advantage of Araquanid's poor Defense. Use Araquanid's immunity to burns to switch into Scald and absorb Will-O-Wisp from threats such as Mega Sableye. It is essential that entry hazards, especially Stealth Rock, are kept off Araquanid's side of the field, as they compromise its ability to switch in on threats. Araquanid has mediocre Defense and should not risk taking unresisted physical attacks, even from defensive threats like Skarmory and Mandibuzz.

Team Options
========

Forretress and Armaldo are reliable Rapid Spin users that help keep Stealth Rock, Spikes, and Toxic Spikes off the field so that Araquanid can operate effectively. Forretress's Steel typing offers a neutrality to the Rock- and Flying-type attacks that Araquanid struggles with, while Armaldo's Rock typing helps offensively deal with Flying-type threats that Araquanid can't manage like Zapdos. Scizor and Mega Scizor are both excellent partners for Araquanid, as their Steel typing covers Araquanid's Rock- and Flying-type weaknesses while Araquanid covers their 4x weakness to Fire-type moves. Scizor and Mega Scizor are able to force out threats like Nihilego and Mega Diancie with Technician-boosted Bullet Punch and can pivot with U-turn to create opportunities to bring Araquanid in safely. Galvantula acts as a strong offensive check for the Flying- and Water-types that Araquanid struggles with, such as Toxapex and Mantine, while offering valuable Sticky Web support to the team. Volcarona is a potent wincon that benefits from the holes Araquanid punches with its powerful STAB moves and its Fire- and Water-type resistances. Mega Pinsir benefits greatly as a sweeper from the damage dealt to defensive cores by Araquanid's powerful Water-type STAB moves, and it is especially effective against the bulky Water and Grass teams that Araquanid can't touch. Choice Scarf Heracross and Buzzwole are strong revenge killers and cleaners whose powerful STAB and coverage moves help dispatch of the Steel-, Grass-, and Rock-types that Araquanid can't easily manage. Buzzwole's Ice-type coverage is tremendously helpful in the Dragon- and Ground-type matchups, and Heracross can utilize Pursuit to take pressure off Araquanid to manage threats such as Heatran and Victini.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Sticky Web supports Araquanid and its team by reducing the Speed of grounded Pokemon by one stage. Scald is a special Water-type STAB move with a relatively high burn chance that is helpful for pestering defensive threats that Araquanid can't break, such as Mega Venusaur and Toxapex, as well as physical attackers that threaten it. Toxic lets Araquanid put defensive walls that aren't threatened by Scald such as Mantine and Porygon2 on a timer. Mirror Coat helps Araquanid check dangerous special attackers it cannot threaten with Scald such as Tapu Koko and Porygon-Z.

Set Details
========

Maximum Special Defense EVs and a Calm nature give Araquanid the most special bulk possible to manage threats such as Mega Charizard Y, and the remaining EVs go into HP to further improve Araquanid's bulk. A Wacan Berry is used to let Araquanid stomach hits from powerful Electric-types such as Tapu Koko and Alolan Raichu and either KO them in return with Mirror Coat or set Sticky Web in a matchup where that would otherwise be impossible. Water Bubble doubles the damage dealt by Water-type attacks, halves the damage taken from Fire-type attacks, and grants an immunity to burns. Focus Sash is an option over Wacan Berry so that Araquanid can check more threats such as Mega Diancie and act as a suicide lead.

Usage Tips
========

Araquanid's first priority should be to set Sticky Web in any given matchup so that teammates like Mega Pinsir and Volcarona can sweep more easily; however, take care to keep Araquanid healthy when it is needed to check threats such as Volcarona or Alolan Raichu. Araquanid should also be used as a switch-in and offensive check to special threats in the metagame such as Mega Charizard Y. Use Scald liberally, as it is Araquanid's strongest move; even when resisted, it can burn defensive threats such as Ferrothorn and Toxapex. Use Araquanid's immunity to burns to absorb Scald or Will-O-Wisp from defensive threats such as Mantine and Mega Sableye. Take care not to reveal Mirror Coat until the moment it is needed to check a threat such as Porygon-Z.

Team Options
========

As an offensive type, every Pokemon on Bug appreciates the Speed reduction dealt by Araquanid's Sticky Web. Forretress and Armaldo are Rapid Spin users that help keep Araquanid healthy and able to check threats consistently by keeping entry hazards off the field. Scizor and Mega Scizor both pair well with Araquanid, covering Araquanid's Rock- and Flying-type weaknesses, while Araquanid, in turn, covers their 4x weakness to Fire-type moves. Both are also able to check threats such as Nihilego with Bullet Punch and pivot into Araquanid with U-turn. Volcarona and Mega Pinsir are potent sweepers that benefit from Araquanid's Sticky Web support to outspeed key targets such as Choice Scarf Victini. Choice Scarf users like Heracross and Buzzwole are effective cleaners whose powerful STAB and coverage moves help check the Steel-, Grass-, and Rock-types that Araquanid can't manage.

Bug
--------

Choice Band Araquanid can be run as a wallbreaker on more offensive teams that still checks special attackers with its natural bulk; however, this set is a much less sturdy check to threats in the metagame like Volcarona. Magic Coat can be used over Toxic or Mirror Coat on Sticky Web Araquanid to try to prevent entry hazards from going up or being afflicted by Taunt. However, Magic Coat is very inconsistent and can cost Araquanid severe momentum. Leftovers is an option over Wacan Berry or Focus Sash on the Sticky Web utility set to give Araquanid more longevity with passive recovery, but this can limit the threats it can check.

Checks and Counters
===================

Bug
--------

**Physical Attackers**: Araquanid has only decent Defense and cannot take unresisted hits from physical attackers like Mega Sharpedo and Tapu Bulu. Araquanid will even struggle with physical attacks from some defensive threats like Skarmory.

**Rock-types**: Araquanid fails to sponge strong special Rock-type attacks over the course of a match and cannot consistently check threats like Nihilego.

**Flying-types**: Araquanid cannot sponge strong Flying-type attacks consistently and struggles to manage threats such as Tornadus-T and Skarmory.

**Electric-types**: Araquanid struggles to sponge strong special Electric-type attacks and can only really take one STAB Thunderbolt from threats like Tapu Koko and Alolan Raichu, limiting how often it can check them.

**Bulky Water-resistant Pokemon**: Araquanid depends on its Water-type STAB moves and struggles to break bulky Water-type Pokemon like Toxapex and Lanturn and Grass-type Pokemon like Mega Venusaur and Ferrothorn. Water-immune Pokemon like Gastrodon and Mantine are especially troublesome, as they keep Araquanid from spamming its STAB moves.

**Residual Damage**: With no source of recovery, consistent chip damage from weather, entry hazards, Rocky Helmet, Leech Seed, or status will undermine Araquanid's ability to operate as a specially defensive tank.

* Araquanid's signature ability Water Bubble halves the damage taken by Fire-type attacks, doubles the power of Water-type attacks, and makes Araquanid immune to burns. Relate its ability back to Bug and why that's such a big deal.
* Araquanid's high Special Defense and resistance to Fire and Water moves allow it to function as a specially defensive tank on Bug, and they make Araquanid a reliable sponge for Fire-type moves and allow it to check special threats like Mega Charizard Y and Volcarona.
* It can also serve as a Sticky Web setter to allow Galvantula to run more offensive sets, or for a different Pokemon to be used in that teamslot altogether. The second half of this bullet is kind of vague and i dunno if webs araquanid and offensive galv pair well together in the first place.
* However, Araquanid is one-dimensional offensively, as outside of its Water-type STAB moves, Araquanid is very weak and cannot threaten Pokemon with coverage.
* Araquanid's weakness to Electric-type attacks is problematic for Bug, as the type lacks sturdy resistances to Electric-type moves and struggles with threats like Tapu Koko and Alolan Raichu.

* Mirror Coat is a tool for checking special attackers that are not threatened by Araquanid's other three attacks like Volcanion. It also manages threats that can 2HKO Araquanid like Tapu Koko and Alolan Raichu so Araquanid can OHKO back in a trade. I don't think "in a trade" is good wording here since it implies that you die, but so do they, like Destiny Bond.

* Utilize Araquanid as a switch in and offensive check to special threats in the metagame such as Kingdra, Mega Alakazam, and Mega Charizard Y. Kingdra and Mega Alakazam are old examples
* Preserve Araquanid when faced with powerful wincons that can otherwise sweep the team, like Volcarona, Choice Scarf Victini, and Porygon-Z. Mention beating them with Mirror Coat/Liquidation
* Use Liquidation liberally. It is Araquanid's strongest move, and even when resisted, it is more powerful than Leech Life.
* Scald should be used to burn defensive threats that aren't threatened by Liquidation such as Skarmory, Ferrothorn, Mega Venusaur, and Toxapex. It can also be used to pester physical attackers that are switching in to take advantage of Araquanid's poor Defense. Reduce defensive mon examples to 2 and add physical attacker examples.
* Use Araquanid's immunity to burns to absorb Will-O-Wisp. This is too brief, expand on it with actual users / scald.
* It is essential that entry hazards, especially Stealth Rock, are kept off Araquanid's side of the field, as they compromise its ability to switch in on threats.
* Araquanid has mediocre Defense and should not risk taking unresisted physical attacks, even from defensive threats like Skarmory and Mandibuzz.

Maybe change Tyranitar to Mega Diancie.
* Galvantula acts as a strong offensive check for the Flying- and Water-types that Araquanid struggles with like Togekiss, Toxapex, and Mantine while offering valuable Sticky Web support to the team. Remove Togekiss
* Volcarona is a potent wincon who benefits from the holes Araquanid punches with its powerful STAB moves and its Fire- and Water-type resistances.
* Choice Scarf Heracross is an effective cleaner whose powerful STAB and coverage moves help dispatch of the Steel-, Grass-, and Rock-types that Araquanid can't easily manage.
* Buzzwole is a powerful wallbreaker whose Electric, Rock, and Fighting coverage threatens the Flying-, Rock-, Steel-, and Water-types that Araquanid fears. Buzzwole's physical bulk pairs well with Araquanid's special bulk, and its Fighting typing helps sponge physical Rock-type attacks like Stone Edge easily. I think this bullet is outdated, I'd rewrite it, especially mention Dragon.
* Mega Pinsir benefits greatly as a sweeper from the damage dealt to defensive cores by Araquanid's powerful Water-type STAB moves, and it is especially effective against the bulky Water and Grass teams that Araquanid can't touch.

* Volcarona and Mega Pinsir are potent sweepers who benefit from Araquanid's Sticky Web support to outspeed key targets such as Scarf Victini.
* Choice Scarf Heracross and Buzzwole are effective cleaners whose powerful STAB and coverage moves help check of the Steel-, Grass-, and Rock-types that Araquanid can't manage. Wrap it together with webs.
Since you have a lot of team members consolidated here, maybe rewrite the AV set to be consolidated as well.

Bug
--------

**Physical Attackers**: Araquanid has only decent Defense and cannot take unresisted hits from physical attackers like Mega Sharpedo, Alolan Marowak, and Tapu Bulu. Araquanid will even struggle with physical attacks from defensive threats like Skarmory. A-Marowak is a bad example.

**Electric-Types**: Araquanid struggles to sponge strong special Electric-type attacks and can only really take one STAB Thunderbolt from threats like Tapu Koko. One of the sets has Wacan and the other is AV. I think you need to rewrite this a little bit and move it to much lower on the checks/counters list.

**Rock-Types**: Araquanid fails to sponge strong special Rock-type attacks over the course of a match and cannot consistently check threats like Nihilego and Mega Diancie.

**Flying-Types**: Araquanid cannot sponge strong Flying-type attacks consistently and struggles to manage threats such as Togekiss and Skarmory. Togekiss is a bad example. Maybe Staraptor?

**Bulky Water-type-resistant Pokemon**: Araquanid depends on its Water-type STAB moves and struggles to break bulky Water-type Pokemon like Toxapex and Lanturn and Grass-type Pokemon like Mega Venusaur and Ferrothorn, which take Leech Life neutrally. Water-immune Pokemon like Gastrodon and Mantine are especially troublesome, as they keep Araquanid from spamming its powerful STAB moves.

**Stealth Rock**: By causing heavy damage on every switch in, Stealth Rock severely hampers Araquanid's capacity to check special threats and sponge Fire-type attacks. This is covered by residual damage, just emphasize SR in the below bullet if you want to specifically mention it.

**Residual Damage**: With no source of recovery, consistent chip damage from either weather, entry hazards, Rocky Helmet, Leech seed, or status will undermine Araquanid's ability to operate as a specially defensive tank.

- Should explain that Focus Sash makes Araquanid mostly a lead, since it relies on having sash unbroken to use Mirror Coat or set up Sticky Web vs Electric.

- Some of this stuff likes almost identical to the other set can you change stuff up?

Looks good. By the way in Checks and Counters, it should be Rock-types, Flying-types, etc. The T is not capitalized.

Sticky Web supports the rest of Araquanid's team by reducing the Speed of grounded Pokemon by 1 stage. Scald is a special Water-type STAB move with a relatively high burn chance that is helpful for pestering defensive threats that Araquanid can't break such as Mega Venusaur and Toxapex,(RC) as well as physical attackers that threaten it. (Same reason for the "as" up above :P) Toxic lets Araquanid put defensive walls that aren't threatened by Scald such as Mantine and Porygon2 on a timer. Mirror Coat helps Araquanid check dangerous special attackers it cannot threaten with Scald such as Tapu Koko and PorygonZ.

Set Details
========

Maximum Special Defense EVs and an Calm Nature give Araquanid the most special bulk possible to manage threats such as Mega Charizard Y. The ,(AC) and the remaining EVs go into HP to improve Araquanid's bulk further. (A lot of the previous sentences have been one-off sentences, so connecting these two smaller sentences helps to improve overall sentence structure and connect the two ideas about EVs together.) Wacan Berry is used to either let Araquanid stomach hits from powerful Electric-types such as Tapu Koko and Alola Raichu and KO in return with Mirror Coat or use the opportunity to set Sticky Webs in a matchup where that would otherwise be impossible. (The clauses "stomach hits..." and "set Sticky Webs..." can be placed in an either...or clause, removing the need for restating the use of the opportunity and better connecting the ideas together.) Water Bubble doubles the damage dealt by Water-type attacks, halves the damage taken by Fire-type attacks, and grants an immunity to burns. Focus Sash is an option over Wacan Berry so that Araquanid can check more threats such as Mega Diancie and lets Araquanid can act as a suicide lead. (The clauses following "so that" need to have the same structure, and "can check" and "lets" are both not in the same tense and do not have the same structure. Changing "lets Araquanid" simply to "can" fixes this and avoids unnecessarily restating the subject.)

Usage Tips
========

Araquanid's first priority should be to set Sticky Webs in any given matchup so that teammates like Mega Pinsir and Volcarona can sweep more easily. However, take Take care,(AC) however, (AC) to keep Araquanid healthy when it is needed to check threats such as Volcarona or Alolan Raichu. (A command has to start with the verb, so moving the "however" to follow it as an interrupter keeps the same intent while being grammatically correct.) Araquanid should also be used as a switch in and offensive check to special threats in the metagame such as Mega Charizard Y. Use Scald liberally. It -- it is Araquanid's strongest move, and,(AC) even when resisted, it can burn defensive threats such as Ferrothorn and Toxapex. (The first sentence is very short and would do better being connected to the following sentence to emphasize why Scald should be used liberally; the subordinate clause "even when resisted" needs a comma before it as well.) Use Araquanid's immunity to burns to absorb Will-O-Wisp or Scalds from defensive threats such as Mantine and Mega Sableye. It is essential that entry hazards, especially Stealth Rock, are kept off Araquanid's side of the field,(RC) as they compromise its ability to switch in on threats. (Same reason for the "as" up above :P) Araquanid has mediocre Defense and should not risk taking unresisted physical attacks, even from defensive threats like Skarmory and Mandibuzz. Take care not to reveal Mirror Coat until the moment it is needed to check a threat such as PorygonZ.

Team Options

As an offensive type, every Pokemon on Bug appreciates the Speed reduction dealt by Araquanid's Sticky Web. Forretress and Armaldo are Rapid Spin users that help keep Araquanid healthy and able to check threats consistently by keeping entry hazards off the field. Scizor and Mega Scizor are both pair well with Araquanid, covering Araquanid's Rock- and Flying-type weaknesses while Araquanid,(AC) in turn,(AC) covers their 4x weakness to Fire-type moves. (The "are" implies that "are both" is a helper verb, yet that is not the case. Removing the "are" fixes this. The "in turn" is an interrupting clause and needs commas around it.) Both are also able to check threats such as Nihilego with Bullet Punch and can pivot into Araquanid with U-turn. (The clause that follows the "and" here must have the same structure, and the "can pivot" does not match due to the helper verb; removing it solves the issue.) Volcarona and Mega Pinsir are potent sweepers who benefit from Araquanid's Sticky Web support to outspeed key targets such as Scarf Victini. Choice Scarf Heracross and Buzzwole are effective cleaners whose powerful STAB and coverage moves help check of the Steel-, Grass-, and Rock-types that Araquanid can't manage.

This ; this set is a much less sturdy check to threats in the metagame like Volcarona, however. Magic Coat can be used over Toxic or Mirror Coat on Sticky Web Araquanid to try and prevent entry hazards from going up or getting Taunted. However, Magic Coat is very inconsistent and can cost you severe momentum. **Physical Attackers**: Araquanid has only decent Defense and cannot take unresisted hits from physical attackers like Mega Sharpedo and Tapu Bulu. Araquanid will even struggle with physical attacks from defensive threats like Skarmory.

**Rock-types**: Araquanid fails to sponge strong special Rock-type attacks over the course of a match and cannot consistently check threats like Nihilego and Mega Diancie.

**Bulky Water-type-resistant Pokemon**: Araquanid depends on its Water-type STAB moves and struggles to break bulky Water-type Pokemon like Toxapex and Lanturn and Grass-type Pokemon like Mega Venusaur and Ferrothorn. Water-immune Pokemon like Gastrodon and Mantine are especially troublesome, as they keep Araquanid from spamming its STAB moves.

**Residual Damage**: With no source of recovery, consistent chip damage from either weather, entry hazards, Rocky Helmet, Leech seed, or status will undermine Araquanid's ability to operate as a specially defensive tank. (Either...or statements are for two subjects only.)

Araquanid's signature ability Water Bubble offers tremendous offensive and defensive utility to Bug, halfing halving the damage taken by from Fire-type attacks, doubling the power of Water-type attacks, and making Araquanid immune to burns. Araquanid's high Special Defense and resistance to Fire and Water moves allow it to function as a specially defensive tank on Bug, and they make Araquanid a reliable sponge for Fire-type moves and allowing it to check special threats like Mega Charizard Y and Volcarona. It can also serve as a Sticky Web setter to allows other Pokemon to be used over Galvantula, such as Yanmega. (Since the subject, Araquanid (It) is singular, the conjugation of "allow" must also be singular.) (correct) However, Araquanid is one-dimensional offensively, (RC) as, (AC) (original structure was correct - don't make these changes) outside of its Water-type STAB moves, Araquanid is very weak and cannot threaten Pokemon with coverage. (The comma should be directly in front of the interrupting clause rather than in front of "as" so that the interrupting clause flows naturally within the sentence structure.) (nope, in this case there's also an interrupting clause of sorts in "Araquanid is one-dimensional offensively", so that needs to be surrounded by commas.) Araquanid's weakness to Electric-type attacks is problematic for Bug, (RC) (leave this) as the type lacks sturdy resistances to Electric-type moves and struggles with threats like Tapu Koko and Alolan Raichu. Araquanid can also struggle with longevity, (RC) (leave this too) as it is weak to Stealth Rock and lacks reliable recovery. (The commas here are not needed as "as" is not functioning as a conjunction for the two sentences; you can change that by changing the "as" to an "and" or a similar conjunction, but that can make the sentence structure sound choppy. I think it's fine how it is, but that's completely up to you c:) (in this case, the word "as" separates a statement from its justification, so adding a comma clarifies this) Araquanid is slow and cannot outspeed even uninvested defensive threats like such as Mega Venusaur; (RH, ASC). This , (AC) and this, (leave this out) combined with it's its one-dimensional offenses, (AC) this can make it a source of momentum drain on Bug teams. (Both of these sentences are rather short and can be combined into one sentence to keep the flow of ideas in tact. This one's more of a recommendation as both the original and the revision are grammatically correct c:) (When combining two independent, grammatically correct sentences, a semicolon ensures you avoid a comma splice)

With its power doubled by Water Bubble, Liquidation is Araquanid's strongest and most spammable attack. Scald is a weaker Water-type STAB move with a 30% burn chance, which is helpful for pestering defensive threats that Araquanid can't break with Liquidation or Water-type-resistant targets such as those on Dragon- and Water-types. Leech Life is a Bug-type STAB move, (AC) useful against Psychic-types and bulky Water-resistant or Water-immune Pokemon such as Slowbro and Seismitoad, (AC) to that can recover health and keep Araquanid healthy for checking threats. (Since there is already an adverb applied to "Leech Life", adding a normal verb into the sentence can make things confusing. I recommend changing "to" to "that can" to help with the overall sentence structure, although both are grammatically correct.) Mirror Coat is a useful tool for checking special attackers that are not threatened by Araquanid's other three attacks like Volcanion. It that which ('that' is used to further specify a previous clause: "Water Bubble protects Araquanid from attacks that would inflict a burn"; 'which' simply gives details but is used for clauses that, when removed, wouldn't change the core meaning of a sentence: "Bug teams benefit greatly from Araquanid, which offers them security against Fire-types") also manages threats that can 2HKO Araquanid like Tapu Koko and Alolan Raichu. (Both of these sentences are rather short and can be combined into one sentence to keep the flow of ideas intact and not sound choppy. This one's more of a recommendation as both the original and the revision are grammatically correct c:) (that vs which is a tricky issue, but you were right to combine here)

Maximum Attack EVs with an Adamant nature give Liquidation and Leech Life the most damage output possible. 68 Speed EVs allow Araquanid to outspeed key special walls such as Chansey and Alolan Muk, (AC) as well as Hippowdon and Azumarill after Sticky Web, (RC) as well as key special walls such as Chansey and Alolan Muk. (The comma here is not needed as "as" is not functioning as a conjunction for the two sentences; you can change that by changing the "as" to an "and" or a similar conjunction, but that can make the sentence structure sound choppy. I think it's fine how it is, but that's completely up to you c:) (avoid ambiguity from the qualifier "after Sticky Web") The remaining EVs go into HP to improve Araquanid's bulk. Water Bubble doubles the damage dealt by Water-type attacks, halves the damage taken by Fire-type attacks, and grants an immunity to burns. Assault Vest bolsters Araquanid's Special Defense to make it as formidable of a special switch-in as possible.

Usage Tips
========

Utilize Use Araquanid as a switch-in (AH) and offensive check to special threats in the metagame such as Kingdra and Mega Charizard Y. Preserve Araquanid when faced with powerful wincons that can otherwise sweep the team, like Volcarona, Choice Scarf Victini, and Porygon-Z so that it can revenge kill them with Liquidation and or Mirror Coat. Use Liquidation liberally, (period -> comma) as it is Araquanid's strongest move; (comma -> semicolon) and,(AC) even when resisted, it is more powerful than Leech Life. (A conjunction needs a comma after it if a subordinate clause follows, as subordinate clauses are separated by commas.) (true, but this makes the flow awkward. A workaround, such as the one I provided, is greatly preferably in this case) Scald should be used to burn defensive threats that aren't threatened by Liquidation such as Skarmory and Toxapex. It can also be used to pester physical attackers such as Dragonite that are switching in to take advantage of Araquanid's poor Defense. Use Araquanid's immunity to burns to absorb Will-O-Wisp and switch into Scald and absorb Will-O-Wisp from threats such as Mega Sableye. (the old sentence structure made it sound like you were switching into Mega Sableye's Scald) It is essential that entry hazards, especially Stealth Rock, are kept off Araquanid's side of the field,(RC) (leave it) as they compromise its ability to switch in on threats.(Same reason for the "as" up above :P) (same reason I'm leaving it there) Araquanid has mediocre Defense and should not risk taking unresisted physical attacks, even from defensive threats like Skarmory and Mandibuzz.

Forretress and Armaldo are reliable Rapid Spin users that help keep Stealth Rock, Spikes, and Toxic Spikes off the field so that Araquanid can operate effectively. Forretress's Steel typing offers a neutrality to the Rock- and Flying-type attacks that Araquanid struggles with, while Armaldo's Rock typing helps offensively (Is this correct? Otherwise, it sounds like Armaldo is a directly worse version of Forretress) deal with Flying-type threats that Araquanid can't manage like Zapdos. Scizor and Mega Scizor are both excellent partners for Araquanid, as their Steel typing covers Araquanid's Rock- and Flying-type weaknesses while Araquanid covers their 4x weakness to Fire-type moves. Scizor and Mega Scizor are able to force out threats like Nihilego and Mega Diancie with Technician Bullet Punch and can pivot with U-turn to create opportunities to bring Araquanid in safely. Galvantula acts as a strong offensive check for the Flying- and Water-types that Araquanid struggles with, (AC) like such as Toxapex and Mantine, (AC) (watch your formatting of edits, the changes I made here make it much easier to read and fix) while offering valuable Sticky Web support to the team. (Making "Toxapex and Mantine" an interrupting clause helps the overall sentence structure and helps differentiate between this point and the point about Sticky web support.) Scald is a special Water-type STAB move with a relatively high burn chance that is helpful for pestering defensive threats that Araquanid can't break, such as Mega Venusaur and Toxapex, as well as physical attackers that threaten it. Toxic lets Araquanid put defensive walls that aren't threatened by Scald such as Mantine and Porygon2 on a timer. Mirror Coat helps Araquanid check dangerous special attackers it cannot threaten with Scald such as Tapu Koko and Porygon-Z.

Set Details
========

Maximum Special Defense EVs and a Calm Nature give Araquanid the most special bulk possible to manage threats such as Mega Charizard Y, and the remaining EVs go into HP to further improve Araquanid's bulk. Wacan Berry is used to let Araquanid stomach hits from powerful Electric-types such as Tapu Koko and Alolan Raichu and either KO in return with Mirror Coat or set Sticky Web in a matchup where that would otherwise be impossible.

Usage Tips
========

Take care not to reveal Mirror Coat until the moment it is needed to check a threat such as Porygon-Z.

Team Options
========

As an offensive type, every Pokemon on Bug appreciates the Speed reduction dealt by Araquanid's Sticky Web. Forretress and Armaldo are Rapid Spin users that help keep Araquanid healthy and able to check threats consistently by keeping entry hazards off the field. Scizor and Mega Scizor both pair well with Araquanid, covering Araquanid's Rock- and Flying-type weaknesses while Araquanid, in turn, covers their 4x weakness to Fire-type moves. Both are also able to check threats such as Nihilego with Bullet Punch and pivot into Araquanid with U-turn. Volcarona and Mega Pinsir are potent sweepers that benefit from Araquanid's Sticky Web support to outspeed key targets such as Scarf Victini. Choice Scarf Heracross and Buzzwole are effective cleaners whose powerful STAB and coverage moves help check of the Steel-, Grass-, and Rock-types that Araquanid can't manage.

Choice Band Araquanid can be run as a wallbreaker on more offensive teams that still checks special attackers with its natural bulk; however, this set is a much less sturdy check to threats in the metagame like Volcarona. Magic Coat can be used over Toxic or Mirror Coat on Sticky Web Araquanid to try to prevent entry hazards from going up or being Taunted. However, Magic Coat is very inconsistent and can cost you severe momentum. Leftovers is an option over Wacan Berry or Focus Sash on the Sticky Web utility set to give Araquanid more longevity with passive recovery, but this can limit what threats it can check.

Checks and Counters

Bug
--------

**Physical Attackers**: Araquanid has only decent Defense and cannot take unresisted hits from physical attackers like Mega Sharpedo and Tapu Bulu. Araquanid will even struggle with physical attacks from some defensive threats like Skarmory.

**Rock-types**: Araquanid fails to sponge strong special Rock-type attacks over the course of a match and cannot consistently check threats like Nihilego and Mega Diancie.

Gweebis, you have a decent grasp on some of the fundamentals, but you'd benefit greatly from reading the standards linked here and made a few unnecessary changes. Keep it up and you'll only get better from here!

[OVERVIEW]

Bug
========

However, Araquanid is one-dimensional offensively, as outside of its Water-type STAB moves, Araquanid it is very weak and cannot threaten Pokemon with coverage.

Moves
========

With its power doubled by Water Bubble, Liquidation is Araquanid's strongest and most spammable attack. Scald is a weaker Water-type STAB move with a 30% burn chance, which is helpful for pestering defensive threats that Araquanid can't break with Liquidation or Water-type-resistant Water-resistant targets such as those on Dragon- and Water-types. Leech Life is a Bug-type STAB move, useful against Psychic-types and bulky Water-resistant or Water-immune -immune Pokemon such as Slowbro and Seismitoad, that can recover health and keep Araquanid healthy for checking threats. Mirror Coat is a useful tool for checking special attackers that are not threatened by Araquanid's other three attacks like Volcanion which also manages threats that can 2HKO Araquanid like Tapu Koko and Alolan Raichu.

Set Details
========

(period) The remaining EVs go into HP to improve Araquanid's bulk. Water Bubble doubles the damage dealt by Water-type attacks, halves the damage taken by Fire-type attacks, and grants an immunity to burns. Assault Vest bolsters Araquanid's Special Defense to make it as formidable of a special switch-in as possible.

Usage Tips
========

Use Araquanid as a switch-in and offensive check to special threats in the metagame such as Kingdra and Mega Charizard Y. Preserve Araquanid when faced with powerful wincons Pokemon that can otherwise sweep the team, like Volcarona, Choice Scarf Victini, and Porygon-Z so that it can revenge kill them with Liquidation or Mirror Coat.

========
