[SET COMMENTS]
A good Attack stat combined with decent coverage and useful priority in Extreme Speed makes Arcanine a hard-hitting physical wallbreaker for Fire-type teams. Its decent Speed stat lets it outspeed Pokemon such as Mamoswine, Togekiss, and Toxtricity while having a Speed tie with Kyurem-B, Obstagoon, and Indeedee. Its ability Initmidate provides some utility support, as it allows it to deter physical attackers like Gyarados for the team. Being a STAB move, Flare Blitz is the hardest hitting move on the set and hits very hard under sun, letting Arcanine heavily damage Pokemon like Mandibuzz. Wild Charge lets Arcanine deal with Water-type Pokemon such as Toxapex, Pelipper, Mantine, and Gyarados. Close Combat allows Arcanine to beat Thick Fat Snorlax and threaten Normal-type teams and is also good against common Rock-types like Tyranitar that can switch into its Flare Blitz. Extreme Speed lets Arcanine beat faster Pokemon like Hydreigon, Keldeo, and Alolan Raichu after they have been weakened. An Adamant nature allows Arcanine to hit harder and makes Extreme Speed more powerful, but it comes at the cost of it not being able to Speed tie with other base 95 Speed Pokemon.
Choice Scarf Charizard appreciates Arcanine weakening walls for it. In return, Charizard deals with troublesome and faster Pokemon like Dragapult, Zeraora, and Choice Scarf Excadrill. Rotom-H can pressure Water-type Pokemon like Toxapex and can pivot into Arcanine through Volt Switch. Torkoal and Ninetales provide essential sun support for Arcanine to boost its Flare Blitz, even further letting it wallbreak easily without much prediction. They can also put opposing Pokemon to sleep with moves like Yawn and Hypnosis respectively, giving Arcanine more opportunities to switch in during the battle. Additionally, Torkoal can keep hazards away with Rapid Spin, while Ninetales can beat Ground- and Water-type Pokemon such as Rhyperior and Rotom-W with Solar Beam. Cinderace can also keep Stealth Rock off the field with Court Change and provide U-turn support as well as form a priority spam core with Arcanine thanks to Sucker Punch. Arcanine also appreciates Cinderace beating faster Pokemon like Hydreigon and Dragapult for it. Salazzle can put defensive Pokemon like Toxapex, Rotom-W, and Seismitoad on a timer with Toxic, making it easier for Arcanine to beat them. It can absorb Toxic Spikes for the team, too.
