Arcanine (QC 0/2)

[OVERVIEW]
Arcanine's main function is to be a pivot and glue for teams. The combination of several elements such as Intimidate, moves like Snarl or Wow and its decent speed makes it a great option to complete your team, since Arcanine allows you to control many of the most common pokemon in the current meta, such as Gholdengo, Chien Pao or Armarouge.

The Intimidate ability makes it possible for Arcanine to switch into of powerful physical attackers and allows us to get momentum for our team since we will have those threats under control. In addition, Arcanine having access to snarl and with the good base stat speed also makes it a great answer to special pokemon of the opponent. Also the fact that it has a powerful fire type attack like Flare Blitz makes it a great answer to Amoonguss or many of the bulky grass or steel pokemon in the meta.

Still one of the big problems with Arcanine is that even though it has decent stats and good moves it tends to be a pokemon that takes a lot of damage over the course of the games. And that it is so versatile makes Arcanine has to fulfill too many functions in game and this makes it is overloaded and is fainted too quickly.

[SET]
Name: The Pivot
Arcanine @ Sitrus Berry / Safety Goggles
Ability: Intimidate
Tera Type: Grass / Water
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Flare Blitz
- Snarl
- Will-O-Wisp
- Protect / Morning Sun

[SET COMMENTS]
*Flare Blitz is the most common stab move in Arcanine, which allows you to damage pokemon like Chien Pao, Amooguss or Gholdengo.

* Snarl is a double target move that lowers the opponent's special attack allowing to get better positions in game against offensive threats and have them more controlled.

* Will-O-Wisp allows Arcanine to have more freedom of responsibility within the battle since WoW allows to quickly nullify physical pokemon as well as being a constant damage that can be very useful in some games.

* The Protect and Morning Sun moves have the same function, which is to make Arcanine last longer healthy. As I mentioned before, Arcanine usually receives a lot of damages and has many functions to fulfill, so having it alive for more turns is ideal.

* This EV spread, 252 HP / 4 SpD / 252 Spe, is the most common in Arcanine, as we in order to get maximize its HP and speed so that it can do the maximum number of actions per game.

* Arcanine's tera type grass has the idea of being able to be a Switch in a Spore as well as a way to resist a dangerous water type or ground type move. On the other hand, the tera type water has a more general function of enduring, and turning Arcanine into a more solid pivot with less weaknesses and more resistances.

* The Sitrus Berry and Safety Goggles items have the function of making it a better pivot, getting an extra 25% of HP or it can be the switch in front of moves like Spore.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Other interesting options for Arcanine is to use Heavy Boots as Item, since hazards are very problematic for a pokemon like Arcanine that has to enter the field many times and takes so much damage from them. You can also explore options in Arcanine by changing the fourth move to Roar, Extreme Speed or Helping Hand, to better adapt it to the style of team you have built. And finally, you can keep in mind the special offensive options with Overheat or Heat Wave over Flare Blitz.

is this QC ready? if so remember to change the prefix from WIP to Quality Control

[OVERVIEW]
Arcanine's main function is to be a pivot and glue for teams. (Combine this with the second sentence so the first sentence emphasizes what specific elements make Arcanine a good pivot/glue. Keep in mind that newer players might not understand what you mean by glue -- something like " The combination of several elements such as Intimidate, moves like Snarl or Wow and its decent speed makes it a great support Pokemon that can hold a team together." and focus in on how these moves help hold the rest of the team together in the rest of the analysis.) The combination of several elements such as Intimidate, moves like Snarl or Wow (Write Will-O-Wisp. Don't use abbreviations for moves) and its decent speed makes it a great option to complete your team, since Arcanine allows you to control many of the most common pokemon (Specify the manner in which Arcanine controls common pokemon -- something like "allows you to slow down common offensive threats") in the current meta, such as Gholdengo, Chien Pao or Armarouge.

The Intimidate ability makes it possible for Arcanine to switch into of powerful physical attackers (Give examples) and allows us to get momentum for our team since we will have those threats under control (How so? Be specific i.e. "allows the players to build momentum by weakening opposing Pokemon"). In addition, Arcanine having access to snarl and with the a good base stat speed also makes it a great answer to special pokemon of the opponent opposing special Pokemon. Also the fact that it has a powerful fire type attack like Flare Blitz makes it a great answer to Amoonguss or many of the bulky grass or steel pokemon in the meta. (You don't need to mention this if it's something that goes into the move description -- I would recommend either removing this, or making it more general rather than talking about the specific move.)

Still one of the big problems with Arcanine is that even though it has decent stats and good moves it tends to be a pokemon that takes a lot of damage over the course of the games. (Why?) And that it is so versatile makes Arcanine has to fulfill too many functions in game and this makes it is overloaded and is fainted too quickly. (This doesn't seem like a flaw. Specify what specifically makes it difficult to stay healthy over the course of the game.)

(Be sure to mention specific teammates and Pokemon that work well with Arcanine. What teammates appreciate Arcanine support? What teammates cover Arcanine's weaknesses?)

*Flare Blitz is the most common stab capitalize STAB move in on Arcanine, which allows you to damage pokemon like Chien Pao, Amooguss or Gholdengo.

* Snarl is a double target move that lowers the opponent's special attack allowing to get better positions in game against offensive threats and have them more controlled. (What specific threats does this cover? Needs more detail. You also should avoid basic dex information about what a move does and just focus on how the move plays in the current meta. Something like "Snarl weakens strong special attackers like Gholdengo and Chi Yu, allowing teammates to more reliably check them" or something similar. )

* Will-O-Wisp allows Arcanine to have more freedom of responsibility within the battle since WoW allows to quickly nullify physical pokemon as well as being a constant damage that can be very useful in some games. (don't abbreviate will-o-wisp, would recommend rewording this. What do you mean by freedom of responsibility? Additionally, you don't need to state what a burn does, just focus on how it works in the current meta.)

* The Protect and Morning Sun moves have the same function, which is to make Arcanine last longer healthy. As I mentioned before, Arcanine usually receives a lot of damages and has many functions to fulfill, so having it alive for more turns is ideal. (With slashed moves, be sure that you emphasize the reason why you would choose one move over another.)

* This EV spread, 252 HP / 4 SpD / 252 Spe, is the most common in Arcanine, as we in order to get maximize its HP and speed so that it can do the maximum number of actions per game. (Explain what benefits Arcanine gets from moving first, and why it would rather be bulky than have any attack investment.)

(Specifics are needed here with regards to Water -- what does Water specifically resist? Why would you run Water specifically over something like Steel?)

* The Sitrus Berry and Safety Goggles items have the function of making it a better pivot, getting an extra 25% of HP or it can be the switch in front of moves like Spore. (Split Sitrus and Safety Goggles into separate sentences so it's clear what the benefits of each are. Something like Sitrus Berry enhances Arcanine's longevity, allowing for it to switch into threats with Intimidate more often. On the other hand, Safety Goggles allows Arcanine to safely switch into Amoonguss without the risk of being put to sleep.)

And finally, you can keep in mind the special offensive options with Overheat or Heat Wave over Flare Blitz.

(Gonna mention that you should specify *why* you want to run some of these -- when would you want to run Roar, extremespeed, or Helping Hand? What specifically benefits from these. The same goes for the section about Overheat over Flare Blitz.)

In general, I would recommend going over this again in order to mention more specific examples of why certain things are good, when you would want to make certain decisions with Arcanine, etc. Think about writing as if you're talking to a newer player. It might also be helpful to look at other Pokemon in previous gens to see how people wrote about similar roles i.e. https://www.smogon.com/dex/ss/pokemon/incineroar/doubles/ . I would strongly encourage another pass to make sure the analysis is more compact with the information it presents, but more concrete and focusing on real examples. Feel free to ask if you have any questions.

Red is remove, Yellow is comments on things to change, green is add.

moving this to Locked/Outdated Analyses due to the low chance we can get this out before HOME.
